I've got a 72" Montezuma Triple that actually sits higher and deeper than an equivalent Snap-On. Have the hutch on it as well. Paid a fraction of what Snap-On wanted, and that was 12yrs ago. Still looks and works like new. A toolbox is just a metal dresser. What you need to spend money on is the tools to fill it. Knowledge will come...but a tool box doesn't help with that what so ever.
That’s my opinion. I bought a used 72” Matco 4s 3 bay for half of new price, from a buddy that got out of it. Got a nice stainless top made for $250, n bought a side cabinet for it. N yeah over the past 6 yrs, spent 50k + in the best tools money can buy.. Because that’s what makes you money. N who likes cheap o tools! there is still lifetime warranty on the box, so anything goes wrong there, it’s taken care of.
definetly agree that a tool box just holds tools. i have been lucky buying my box used but i couldnt justify the cost of a new box at this point in my life
@@markm0000 blame eddie lampert. He bought sears and Kmart and ran them into the ground, sucking money from them. Sears was doomed the moment he bought them. HF on the other hand was managed correctly and is successful. Sorry but that's facts, sears could be what HF is now and be a real competitive force. Instead just a money grab for an already rich man.
I work with two guys that had the husky boxes and they've had them since 2013 and where very happy with the husky! There work on big trucks in North Dakota!!
I work in the business and have Always have said tool boxes make you zero money. Being organized is a big part of it tho. Spending a grand on a box instead of 5 grand let’s you buy more tools to get the job done instead of being tied up with a expensive box and not being able to get the tools you need because your tool bill is too high.
@@williamuskoski1385 I use a 3 bank us general box with a side cabinet/locker that cost me 975 bucks brand new. Full of snap on, Mac, Matco etc... I’d buy my box 5 times over before I wasted money on a box from one of the bigger guys
I have a snap on box from a co worker who had to retire … 5 k for a 72” huge box with a chrome top and hutch….. and I love it… it’s a lifetime box, seen friends of mines buy multiple boxes due to the drawers not being able to hold weight or just becoming worn out. I rather buy one box than but the same box over and over
I work in the business too. I have full sets up to one inch drive in my top drawer, chrome, impact, impact swivels. Probably at least 600 pounds in the top drawer alone. I don’t feel anything less than my Epiq series slides would handle it. My Mac Tech series wasn’t happy.
I have US General in my shop…and the same Husky in my house garage for the house tools. Love them for what they are. Rather spend the money on my tools and cars….I also don’t use it every day.
This has got to be one of the best color combos in a tool box I've seen! Great job on picking that, it is gorgeous! 😁 would just love to come hangout with you guys for a day or 2. That would be absolutely a dream lol. Keep up with the great videos! 🤘🤘
Just sold my Epiq 84” and bought ICON boxes to replace it, adding a locker and more storage rather than a hitch. Couldn’t be happier and put the other $8,000 back in the bank.
The material on every item of merch is very high quality and durable, still have my shirts and hoodies from 2017 when it first launched and wear them multiple times a week in all weather conditions here in Michigan
My buddy was showing me how strong his snap on box was by sitting on the draw and it literally broke and he didn't even have all his weight on it he weighed around 200 ponds. Needlessly to say he was mad and really embarrassed.
No matter how much money I make, I will never be able to rationalize 10,000 for a cabinet to store tools that’s only 56 inch while a us general is enough for 1/20 of the price
I still have the Snap On top and bottom boxes I bought new in 1982 and the Matco center box I bought in 83. Told my wife she would be long gone before I sold my tools and boxes. I've been happily divorced 33 years now. still have my tools!
im 17. I just bought a 40 inch snap on roll cart with a sliding top for 1600 on market place. I figure I have a lot of years to own it. might as well have the good one. buy once, cry once. its only a few months old too
I'd spend all my money on wrench workz stuff to get that box or hangout with u, but I just had a baby less than a week ago so I dont have extra money. Good luck to everyone though, hopefully whoever gets the box can truly put that to use. 🙌🙌
First I’ve ram both Stihl and Husqvarna definitely a Husqvarna fan seamed to run better and smoother throughout a 10 hour day on a mountain. An ideal day in the world of Greg would definitely be a drive to the race track in the Pete. As far as tool boxes you really get what you pay for I think heavier materials and more attention to details.
Love snap on tool boxes...exceeept their key and barrel locking system. At work we lock and unlock tool boxes 20 or more times a day. The locks/ keys and locking bar fails and cracks so quickly when theyre used that much. This is in an industrial setting so it's a bit understood but still. Otherwise I love snap-on boxes and tools alike.
Yep I’ve had to break into my Snap On roll cart that’s only a year old. One of the pins in the lock jammed but thankfully my snap on guy warrantied it. I now grease the lock every week.
Its not the box, or the tools in the box that makes a tech, its the knowledge on how to use those tools. Now that being said, a quality tool is very nice to have, but they aren't cheap and it comes with time and experience.
This comments 🔥 Im 23 years old started working with my pops when I was 10. I got a 300$ husky box filled with MAC and Snap-On tools people still don’t believe their eyes when they see me pulling pistons, heads, transmission, differentials, if Its on a semi Ill do it lol. Its all about them years of experience because I can do all the same jobs with harbor freight tools quality tools just make the job better a tool box does nothing but hold and lock your your tools. They all roll and can be lifted by a fork lift If anybody wanted to take it they would. After breaking down the shops doors haha
@@madcannagrow2833 exactly, I'm 28 and Have been doing this professionally for 10 years now. 6 of those years ive been a shop owner. Ive owned craftsman, tool vault, and now my snap on epiq. Love the box, I think it comes down to personal preference too. I know some guys that are perfectly satisfied driving around a 98 civic and dont care, and I know other folks that enjoy driving a lifted truck with big power. Not an ego or status thing, just what someone likes. My senior tech at my shop is one of the best techs your ever going to find and works out of a $300 husky box, why? His words to me were "thats dumb" lol. He would rather spend money on his hobbies.
Saw the cummins block shirt. Couldn't order it fast enough. Hanging out would be badass! Met you at UCC and was good to chat. Maybe have to do some 2a shenanigans with the winner. Lol
Tekton tool box are made by Rousseau in Canada. Just compare the $3450 Tekton 60 x 30 Inch (ORG75201)with 400 lb.(each of the 12 drawers) to the $12,175 Snap-on 60 x 30 Inch EPIQ Series (KETN602C0PBO) with 226lb (for 6 drawers) and 454lb (for 4 drawers) the Tekton got more rigidity with it's undercarriage drawer and it's 3.5 time cheaper!, To bad they didn't order the triple bank from Rousseau, this one may made you wonder why you spend that much on a Snap-on. Rousseau make industrial tool box, they can custom build you the box of your dream for far cheaper then Snap-on but it's still too expensive for home user. For that you have the Heavy duty Husky series, the Harbor freight U.S General tool box and specially their new fantastic 6 drawers cart.
Let's not forget to mention the convenience of tool truck tools. They come right to your work, you're on the clock while tool shopping and you don't have to drive to town to replace something that's breaks
On the saw note, I’ve owned a husqvarna 372xp for 15 years beat the heck out of it and only issue was blowing muffler gasket out. Best saw I’ve ever used
I started with a small craftsman tool box. started filling with tools. eventually when I started making more money. upgraded to a snapon KRL722. got a good deal on it. it was a repo in great shape. over the years I added a top chest and a locker. just over a yr ago. I got a good deal and trade in on a KCP1423 triple bank with spee drawer and power drawer. love the box and this will be my last tool box purchase. there are lots of matco tool boxes in my shop. the same triple bank needs 6 casters under it where snapon has 4. snapon is built better and stronger in my opinion. also love the lock n roll drawers.
Ahhhhhh, the Matco doesn't NEED 6 Casters. It's simply more structurally stable that's all. I'm my opinion, Matco does make the best boxes. For ANY Triple Bay, they need 6 Casters, not 4. It just makes common sense
I’ve had a snap on, craftsman, husky and us general. By far as an aircraft mechanic and automotive mechanic I find that my US General is the best for me. I use one at home and at work.
Buy what makes sense. Period. It’s a box, that you store tools in; nothing more. If you’re on a budget, there are much better things to spend your money on. I have a buddy who lives in a trailer, who is paying on 50k plus in snap on tools; he’s dumb. Don’t be that guy.. It all depends on your situation.
Nice setup. I used watch your channel for long time I missed long time from just seeing this video. Think last one I seen was gen 1 Cummins when u bought it
Snap on and Matco seem to make the best boxes. However they are very expensive, buying a used one if you have the cash is the way to go and save a lot of money. A lot of dealerships provide boxes so they can have a uniform look in the shop. So unfortunately for techs unless they have a place to store them they usually have to sell at a discount price to move it.
One thing to keep in mind when buying off a Tool Truck compared to companies like Mountain, Tektonic, Pneumatic Grey and such. Is you aren't paying so much more for some name on a tool. You are paying for the Service that comes with it..... If the Tool Guy ain't consistent, Doesn't warranty things. You are paying a suckers fee.
I have a small roll cart from snap on in my garage that my dad had won years ago from his work and have that thing full. Now for my work I have US GENERAL roll cart and 56inch box for the most part both fully loaded now but already finding myself needing bigger. But I buy what I can afford as I go. As for tool guys I have really only had a great Mac tool guy at the first shop I worked at to where I’m at now I have a great snap on guy so far hoping to build a better relationship with my snap on guy to where I feel comfortable paying his kids college fund.
If you guys ever get board and have a chance to I would love to see your comparison of the harbor freight icon boxes verse the snap on since you have experience with them. Just due to price point area.
Snap on makes the best box and the best ratchet. Milwaukee makes the best power tools. My slid top roll cart is full but it hold a lot. The orange on the box is cool.
We lost our mechanics shop do to a fire and trying to find tool in ones has been a nightmare,we do not do want or need the tool truck pricey stuff and these reviews help let us know what quality is out there
i use to have a snap-on box and loved it.. I am not a professional i just tinker with my own stuff. I like to say i have more tools than talent anyway. I use to think it was nuts to pay that kind of money .. but its well worth it after having one. I just purchased a 26" US General top and bottom and i hate it poorly designed drawers but the build quality seems very good. I want to get rid of it and get something else.
Being a class 8 diesel mechanic I have a Matco 3 bank RevelX with a hutch. Paid 10K for it (7K trade in and dealer held me off until the end of the year to not pay full price) instead of 26K+. I’ve been doing this for 10 years and honestly just wanted a stand out box and it’s by far the best looking box on the market in my opinion. Loaded down with almost 80K in tools and the drawers are still as smooth as the day I got it. I was looking at a EPIQ from Snap-on and my dealer just couldn’t match the offers Matco made. Even as a Snap-on dealer he drools over my box lol. It all comes down to what you want to pay, can you afford it, how long you’ve been in your industry, etc. to each their own.
Being that I have a Mac double bank I do enjoy having no latch style. It’s lasted me in the field for 5 years and it’s about to become a garage box since moving into a service truck. But my next box I ever buy will be an epic series box
That student discount is awesome. For Snap On the boxes are around 50% off. I bought my KRSC cart from there a little over a year ago, believe it or not, I’m already outgrowing it. Its amazing how quick tool collections grow, lol. I’m wrapping up my last year of school so im thinking about getting a classic 55” while I can still get it cheap.
50%??? Damn that’s crazy! The snap on truck sells used ones because guy tend to use them and buy bigger with a buy back from the truck if and when I buy a snap on box it WILL be used because I’m not spending 10k on a box that’s me tho I want to spend money on tool ya know!
Well. . . A guy has to look at like an old mechanic told me back when I started filling my fingernails with sludge for a living ...." SNAP-ON isn't the only major sponsor of the big boys that play the game of who's the fastest today" and " being the shiniest only really counts at car shows and reflections off the brass poles" :P
All I have to say as a 25 year veteran in my profession as a diesel mechanic if I loaded cheap boxes with my tools maybe not at first but eventually the cheap box would fold under the weight
I realize that this video is a year old, but do you know that Husky makes three different levels/grades of tool boxes. They make the typical or regular use, entry level grade boxes, the Heavy Duty boxes and Professional grade boxes. Quite interesting. The Pro series boxes actually come with a Lifetime Warranty as well.
In Aviation all tools have to be shadowed in the tool box. My current tool box is SnapOn KRL 1056 which is the big square box but it’s super deep KRL line. I love a box that has the full length drawers all the way down no small drawers. If I could post pics of the shadowing I would.
Sthil or husky ftw. Just get there professional modeles and not the ones you Gan buy at the big box stores they are night and day different and worth the extra $$ in the quality you get
For a small saw go with Husqvara 550xp Mark2 it is a small professional grade saw. I run Husqvara 390xp and 395xp daily logging can’t beat Husqvara saw in my opinion.
Use to be the best lol they have gone cheaper now. My local sthil dealer told me not to buy a new one. My new favorite is efco they have been insane for years now for me that is
The biggest issues with lower tier boxes is the flimsiness of the steel, and the shitty drawer slides. Time will kill cheap drawer slides, and weight will make them feel like shit to open and close all the time. If you only use the box on weekends, go mid level. If you want to use your box more than 1 - 2 days a week, get something nicer.
Of all the boxes I've used and most are old lol but I do believe that snap on makes one of if not the nicest boxes out there but I don't have the money to have one
If you’re still looking for Peterbilt parts, there’s a semi junk yard in terre haute, indiana that has tons of Pete’s. I see it all the time when I stop at the pilot in front of it.
I’m an up and coming CNC machinist and I just bought a small Kennedy box and have already filled it up with just measuring tools. I did go to UTI but the snap on program was never mentioned to the machinist students I wish it was but I still don’t see myself buying a new snap on possibly a used one.
As a Tool maker that moved to heavy duty, stay away from anything with snap on written on it unless you bought it stolen, it's just Williams or Bahco tools made in Spain or Taiwan with snap on printed/etched on it in USA with a 500% mark up. Their only good product they sell is the 87 piece hex/torx socket set by blue point. Life time warranty and you'll need it cause they will break. Power tools go Milwaukee, air go Matco.
Have you had any front tire issues with your dually? I have a ‘15 3500 with tire cupping. All new suspension components and still can’t seem to fix it.
I actually own the exact same box, but in black with purple trim with the hutch. Bought it used of marketplace, but i love it. would love to have a Epiq but cant justify the cost right now. Just only got a roll cart recently and do love that too, got it used off the snap on truck but having 2 snap on boxes i own outright and only making payments on the roll cart is nice. I personally like the snap on boxes over the others
SK and SP tools are also really really good . ( there’s 2 more companies that also have really good stuff but I don’t recall their names atm ) imho… But when it comes down to it SnapOn did it first and everything stems from them. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
I’m a welder/fabricator so if I was a mechanic or wrenching everyday I’d definitely upgrade but my roller at the shop us general 🤷🏼♂️ and at home I have a few husky boxes..
IMO matco makes the best box I stated with a us general 5 drawer roll cart then bout a 4s 28” deep double bank. I chose to do credit app and snap on denied me but matco gave me over 10k which I only used 7k box and tools together then once I bought that snap on was trying to give me credit yet it was still not very much. I have cool dealers but my matco dealer is hands down the best of the three and I get way more for my money from matco over snap on just my experience
Would love to hangout with both of you and pick your brains on Alfa OBD questions, performance mods, etc. BTW I have a '14 2500 with the Cummins and 68rfe.. Absolutely love my truck!!!!! Keep up the great work and great content.
Can you please start pumpin out some youth sizes? My son is 8 and won't stop asking for Greg's t-shirts. He's gonna want that Cummins block t-shirt! And the wrench and piston. I just ordered 2 of the block XL tshirts
I have a Husky and a u.s. general toolbox I'm not a mechanic I just like having my tools organized and these toolboxes work well for me. I've never seen a snap on tool box in person to see how well they are made I just know they are out of my price range to ever buy one
Buy used just as good if they been through a cpl owners. I love cornwell mac matco snap-on blue point apex gear wrench etc if it's a good tool it's a good tool. Cause I know me myself I can tare up a lead brick which my dad always said that since I was little then I Finally noticed why he always said boy you'd tare up a lead brick. Because if it don't tare up its worth having. I put shit through the ringer believe me buddy. But yeah their boxes are super nyiouce!!!
Also I love the old school boxes and tools. I go to flea markets n buy them for basically nothing these tools I'm talking are 20-60+ yrs old n still cranking shit out! I stretch my money far as it'll go and buy shit that if it's basically thrown away at the flea mkt n been through who knows how many ppl and that mf still Goin it'll probably last me half my life or til the end. If you use tools as they are specified to be used and to the ratings in which they're meant. Meaning big tools for big jobs little tools for small easy jobs and take care of them they'll definitely take care of you. Hell I had few old I mean old tools snapon and Mac that they wanted try give me a new tool nope I want this old ratchet fixed . Those old school tools built way way heavy duty compared some these companies newer stuff.
We can all agree Snap on has the better box than husky but……..pricing begs the question. How much better is it ? I would happily pay double , or maybe even triple for snap on. 5x the cost is unwarranted in my book , I’ll get the husky and more tools
My snap-on guy retired and the new guy doesn't come to my area so I got a little handful of broken snap on tools that I can't get replaced so it kinda sucks.. I like Mac tools but snap-on definitely makes a very nice toolbox both of the ones I have owned were amazing just moved and had to sell them since the new house didn't have a garage :( one day I'll have another snap-on box. I still got all the tools though haha
I started with a blow molded case. I bought a 55 inch snap on box when I got close to graduating college turns out my work gave me a sunex 6 drawer roll cart so my snap on box stayed home. I sold my snap on box simply cause i had no need for it and bought a us general five drawer cart. Ran out or space in my sunex cart at work so I sold it and got a used matco Jamestown cart
