A youtuber built a similar 883 with a dyno run test before and after the upgrade. The final result was a tuner ($350+) , exhaust ($600+) and a K&N air filter ($50+). Basically he invested over $1000 in his upgrade and gained less than 3hp and a similar amount of torque. No disrespect intended as this person admits these upgrades are part of future plans, but thats alot of cash for the return. Keep in mind Hammer Performance offers a 1250 kit for apx $750 which delivers 40+ HP and a noticeable jump in torque.
Agreed, but correct me if I’m wrong, if you do the hammer performance kit (or any other kit for that matter)you still need a tuner, exhaust and intake.
@@Hellbentbiker You are correct. Peak performance would be achieved by choosing a performance based big bore kit, tuner, intake and exhaust. However, my point was somewhat missed (my fault). The video I referenced shares the owner invested over $1000 for a 3hp gain. A stock 883 will Dyno at apx 46hp, but this engine with a 1275 Hammer Performace conversion ($850) can achieve 85hp. These number do include the use of a stage 1 upgrade which include intake, tune and exhaust. Note, upgrading the heads from those included with an 883 can net performance gains up to 130+ hp. Choosing a big bore kit and a tuner ($250-$600) without upgrading the exhaust or intake will definitely prevent you from gaining the full potential of what's available, but you will still gain more than 3 hp. If an owner is pleased with the performance of their 883 (many people are) and wish to improve the looks and sound of their bike a stage 1 upgrade is a great option. However, if performance/torque is what's needed, a increase in displacement should be considered.
@@mrmatt7210 I’m in complete agreement, that’s why I said “agreed” My point, as you also pointed out is that the big bore kit will require a tuner, exhaust, and intake. Most, not all, but most people will also pay someone to install a big bore kit which adds to that cost. Still a better value though. Many get a stage 1 as a first step since it’s really required for big bore kits or even cams. People that aren’t planning a stage 2 or higher will definitely not see much hp/$ benefit and many times it just moves where the power comes in. Stage 1 is mostly just for looks, sound, and it’s DIY friendly. Plus many exhaust don’t perform very well either. Check out Hammers exhaust dyno comparison. We are saying the exact same thing. 👊🏻✌🏻🤘🏻
Having ridden my 2019 for two years with just slip ons, i have just installed high flow air cleaner and an fp3. To me, the difference was night and day 👍
I'm accustomed to bobber bikes and ride the freeway with them, love the raw feel of no fairing and a much lighter bike, it's also my main transport, except when it's heavy rain or lightning outside, or if I'm mentally and physically exhausted..then I'll take the car lol. But I've always wanted to pick up a newer-ish 883...purely just for the sound lol.
I pushed my 07 Sportster 883 from the Central Valley to pismo beach about 200 miles at 85 the whole way. With a little tlc those bikes go as far and fast as you want for as long as you want. Well as much as an air cooled 883 can allow
Same here. Mine has a stage one but it made the trip easily. My only complaint was not having a windshield to eat some of the wind. And I was riding 2 up the whole way
i think people saying 883 is not a good bike is under power etc they expect 883 to be like 1200 i don't understand you want 1200 go get a bigger bike no need to put down 883 you have the cash you want power go up in model to 1200 or bigger so tired of hearing people complaining live your life in higher extend spend the dollars get a bigger motor etc.....
I don't know what you're talkin about. My stock 883 runs glass smooth at 70 mph in 5th gear, 3750 RPM. I get 75 MPG running like that. Maybe I just have the best 883 ever built by Harley-Davidson. I'm fixing to do a stage 1. The first thing I did was shocks. 13 inch. That makes a world of difference.
@@GenZBiker you said in your video the top speed with 85 that's incorrect. You said it was vibrate at 70 MPH. It isn't. An iron 883 is the bike is a bike commute on everyday.
That look is going after a more streamlined look on the front end. When parked all you see is the motorcycle: tank, bars, engine & tires. Most people ditch the speedo and replace it with their phone and run waze to see gps and current speed.
What do you mean why?? It looks waaaay better! Have you been to a Harley dealership lately? All the new sportsters are coming like that stock from what I’ve seen there too

After installing the short shots today my right heel had to rest on the heat shield and I don't think I can get use to it. Do you have the same problem?
I have. 2011 bought I’m used I’ve put 8500 kms and this is my 2nd season with it. Been solid so far. Does he have quiet baffles on those pipes I have the same set up but no quiet baffles, he’s pipes sound a bit different but could be because it’s on video.
@@snidely_whiplash To each their own I suppose, the owner of the bike seems to enjoy it around town here in MKE. He also has an enduro & sweet miata he road races.
Hey man Ik this is a bit late but the speedometer is on the left side of the gas tank. It’s just a mod you can do but at stock it’s by where his phone is.
