Another cat project I think Joobie would love is cat shelves. See, cats are very territorial creatures and they love being high overseeing their domain--it makes them feel confident. So if you made some shelves going up a wall like a staircase with a big carpeted perch she could sleep in at the top she would absolutely use it.

Poor cat just wants to go outside. That box isn't great at all, way too small really. I'll be cat proofing our entire yard when we move so at least they can enjoy more space.

@@hippopotamus86 For some people it's more feasible and easy to keep their cat indoors, not to mention healthier and safer. From what it looks like, they have a giant yard, and their cat loves the little spot they made for her. They know their cat better than anyone, don't come after them like you're better than them for cat-proofing your yard.

I have an experience to share: We made a dog house with a acrylic top and it made the inside of the dogouse so hot when the sun was out. We made a cover for it out of UV fabric, like they use for greenhouses, that helped but the California sun was too brutal. We ended up putting a different top on it.

Well done! Here's a tip for the future. The acrylic piece initially fit because you were dropping it in vertically. When you are installing a thick piece of acrylic (or anything thick and rigid) into a fixed opening at a tiny angle (as you did here), if possible the top edge should be beveled slightly so that it will fit into the opening at that angle, while still ending up tight at the very end.

I'm not sure if "genuis" literally translates to any language, but "genu" is Latin for "knee", and the words for "knee" in most Romance languages are built from that root: e.g., "genoux" in French and "genoll" in Catalan.

I’ve been thinking about making my own cat a catio for a while. She’s getting older and originally was someone’s indoor/outdoor cat who had a lot of anxiety when it came to being exclusively indoors. As she’s getting older I’ve started to become worried about her spending time outside so I hope by building a catio it will both keep her safe and alleviate the anxiety she had when I tried to keep her as an indoor only cat so she can live a long and healthy life into old age.

My sister got both a free Huge bird game (you can step inside it!) and a dog crate for cheap on Facebook marketplace. With some zip ties and a cat flap installed into the fly screen of Her cats favourite window the kitty now has a really easy, strong and budget friendly play space. It’s not a permanent structure as they rent but that can be a plus in some cases too

We have two cats, a brother and sister. The brother is super outgoing and the sister is super shy. We built them a walk-in catio, and were surprised that the cat that loves it the most is the shy sister! She spends all day every day out there when it's a nice day. It's so satisfying that she loves it. Would the Supervisor like cat shelves? Our cats love their shelves, too!

Great project! Actually given me an idea of making something similar for my chinchillas. They're not allowed outside, but during play time it would be nice if they could get something of an outdoor experience while still being safely indoors. A chinio!

Watching the 1st Catio video and now this one...Joobie is loving it. I will suggest one thing...Cats have night vision and the extra lights at night will hamper her seeing out in the yard. Might want re-direct the lights out to the yard so she can see out farther. Joobie is a beautiful cat and good job on being a responsible cat owner. Love the videos!

I’ve made several, and my cats love them. Here are some tips: 1) The weight of s carried by the windowsill. I attach it using slotted angles, which are concealed by the various; 2) Heavy duty cat screen all around. Where there are other critters, reinforce this on the outside with hardware cloth; 3) Keep the top screen and flat. Neighbor cats will lay on top and hang out with your cat; 4) Open window all the way. Insert piece of thick foam board. Lower window slightly to secure in place. Install cat door in the foam panel. 5) Design shelves so they dry quickly to prevent mildew.

I have to agree with a lot of the sentiments in the comments. I always looked forward to you guys posting videos. And the amount of time I've rewatched videos is staggering. I can't remember which video I first watched, but i don't think it matters... because I love them all!

This catio idea is very cool. I had my sweet short-haired tabby cat for 15 years until she passed on. She was a Polydactyl Hemingway type cat. Her little mittens were so cute. I wish I had one of these catios for Kitty to enjoy back then. She was an indoor cat her whole lifetime but she liked to look out of the windows. I really enjoyed watching this catio build. Great video and good craftsmanship! Just a suggestion- consider using a polarizer filter on your camera lenses to reduce unwanted reflections on surfaces like glass, so that when you show off stuff like this, we can see inside without glare!

It's so beautiful! The rug and the lights are a nice touch. I want a human sized catio 0_0 AKA a bay window reading nook or a screened in porch. I want to enjoy fresh air and sunlight without mosquitoes and ants!

You guys gave me a fantastic idea. I live in an apartment on the second floor so catio's are difficult, but I think making a design almost like a Window AC should hold! (Window AC's are pretty heavy)

I'm so glad you updated the catio! I'm planning my own so this was really helpful! Definitely gonna go as big as I feasibly can and get those cat measurements since those were the biggest (non-aesthetic) improvements in my eyes. Also I love the idea of lighting for the dusk and early morning kitty explorers!
