I’m on a low dose of accutane as well and I’m soooo incredibly pleased with how efficient it’s been for my fungal acne especially. It literally cleared in 2-3 weeks. It’s insane. My cystic acne has been popping up everyday here and there but I suspect it has something more to do with dead skin cells getting stuck underneath the surface with all this drying medication more so than hormonal flare ups. My lips need lip balm at almost all times of the day but they look completely normal and I’ve only now gotten my first sore from dryness which I got rid of quickly. I would really recommend slathering a water based moisturizer all over twice after cleansing everyday and then bringing sunscreen with you everyday, everywhere. I work outside in a cafe, and I’m on accutane during the summer months here in Denmark and I’m doing just fine (aaand I’m a ginger hahaha!) It’s definitely far more doable than I thought this journey would be and I definitely recommend going on a lower dose even if you’re desperate for results. I’m 6 weeks in and yesterday a friend told me that despite some of the dryness from leftover scabs, I’ve got porcelain texture now🥹 I got my life and confidence back.

I used Accutane in the 8th grade for a year after having very bad cystic acne. Since completing Accutane at age 13 I can count the number of pimples I have had since on one hand. I'm 25! It cured my acne for good and I'm so thankful

im in 8th grade and i am considering something like accutane or like epuris. I just want to take pills because all the products and prescribed creams dont work on my acne, and i have a LOT for a 13 year old, like my acne is all over my face it sucks. Do you recommend it? Im really scared though because i heard the side effects are really bad

Today is a full month on Accutane & I’ve started purging a bit, but I was like you. I put it off for a while as I was terrified of side effects. If I would’ve went on it when my doctor first suggested it, I’d be just finishing my journey. But I refused at first and wanted to try all other methods. They all failed and so I’m excited to see my results from Accutane! My face is also always swollen bc of my constant break outs, so I’m excited to see my real face & jawline again at the end of this process!

Thank you for sharing your experiences, both with accutane and post-year!! Your skin looks beautiful!! Listening to your videos have helped me have the courage to start accutane. I've been thinking about taking accutane since 2020 (the first time my doctor recommended it) but have been extremely scared and nervous about the side effects and its long term impact on my body. It was really helpful hearing your perspective with the side effects and how it made you feel. I'm so happy for you that you felt it was worth it!

Allegra, Your skin looks great! I also did accutane and agree it was the best decision, but I had to go on tretinoin after. For some reason I started getting minor acne during my 6th month which was frustrating because I literally cleared up in the first 2 months. Can you do a post accutane skincare routine?

I'm currently on accutane, only on day 2 now. I've been struggling since 3 years now, it always fluctuated between moderate to mild acne. Sometimes its better, but when I try to get rid of the acne marks or sometimes when I don't even do or change anything it often gets worse and I get an acne flare with these big inflamed under the neath pimples etc, it was horrible, annoying and so persistant, I also tried many things already, I've been to a dermatologist last year, it helped a bit but in like july/september it got worse again so I decided to go to the dermatologist and ask for accutane. He saw my struggle and the things I already tried, I would say right now my acne wasn't as worse as in september because I had to wait almost 2 months for an appointment but it was still bad so he agreed on putting me on accutane. I was also very afraid of the side effects but this is my last hope and I would try anything now for clear skin. So far I have no side effects because I just started but I really hope that it will clear my skin someday. I've been dreaming since 3 years to wake up with clear skin, to be able to go out without makeup and do the other stuff I avoided because of my acne. The mental struggle is really hard. It is exactly as you described, the first thing I do when I wake up is to look at my skin and see if I have more or less pimples.

I just want to say to anyone who is interested in accutane but maybe don’t have the funds or healthcare or perhaps are even afraid, I would like to say LOOK INTO TAKING VITAMIN A!!! I take 10,000IU vitamin A capsules everyday and have seen a dramatic difference in my acne. It’s basically a cheaper and lower risk approach to accutane, which is basically just a medical dose of vitamin A. Peace and love y’all ❤️🥰

I've had accutane since I was 14 (now I'm 25). At the time when I had it, obviously I didn't do much research and just fully trust the derm. but as I got older, acne starts to flare up every 2 years and I'd go back to derm again and get another accutane. One point, the derm increased the dosage (from 10 mg to 20mg) and still not much difference made. I feel so helpless now bcs I don't want to go through accutane nor do I want to take doxycycline 😭 Those are just temporary for me, and I've always stick to dermatology-certified skincare routine.

I have a question - did your acne go away while u were on medication? and it came back after? or did it not go away at all? and how long dis you take the pills for?

@@mallikagupta4960 hey Mallika, no worries! When i took it, it went away within 3-6 months. Ive been to 4 derm. The 4th derm prescribed me with doxycycline first and accutane then. So that was 6 months doxy, 6 months accutane. But then after 2 years it got back (cystic acne) and i was prescribed with stronger accutane dose. I must say that this time around, it didnt go away bcs im guessing my body learn tolerance with it. So ive stopped and still dealing with acne 😕😖

Glad it worked for you hope it lasts. I loved my post accutane skin but sadly after a year my acne returned full blast. I managed to get rid of it again with pantothenic acid (vitamin B5). Also, the anxiety was so overwhelming as was the back pain that it caused me to quit my job temporarily so I would never try it again.
