Excellent analysis as always, Lawrence! I think it’s very safe to say that Acharya Prashant is antinatalist. The only way he could be any more of an antinatalist at this point is if he flat out declared, “I am an antinatalist!” As a vegantinatalist who grew up in a Hindu household, I feel extremely validated by his views.

Acharya Prashant is prominently a teacher of vedantic philosophy which basically focuses on the question "Who am I, really?". And the logical and critical reasoning suggested in the vedantic scriptures come down to the conclusion that we(the sentient beings) are actually not the body and the mind, but rather the witness consciousness(the experiencer) of it. We are consciousness (brahmn) itself manifested as physical beings. Its a very profound philosophy knowing which gives rise to compassion and from compassion follows Veganism and Antinatalism...so Prashant actually wants people to understand that veganism and Antinatalism must come from the centre of compassion and compassion can only come from realising who we actually are!

This is a good, and concise, presentation of Prashant's views. One comment: perhaps I misunderstood what you were saying, but you seemed to want to separate 'ethical' AN from 'spiritual' or 'metaphysical' AN. I wonder if that can be done. Most of the philosophical work on AN in the West appears to be 'secular', but it is my view that secular culture has an unacknowledged metaphysical foundation. Secular materialist culture tends to think of itself as not needing these, but if you are outside of that perspective it seems that this perspective is a metaphysical one, just as much as the one Prashant holds. Again, perhaps I misunderstood what you were saying. In any case, another fine video. Thanks.

If u really want to know clearly that why AP advocates antinatalism then u should watch his vids mainly on climate change n female liberation. I'm listening him from 2 yrs with all other concerns of the indian society he talks about so from all of it what I've understood I'll share. As our country is most populous that In itself became a huge problem for so many things at micro level. Also, according to "environmental research letter having a one fewer child has around 60% impact on climate change mitigation." And for highest concious growth n independence for a female it becomes a need that she would not just indulge into procreation n maternity related things n forgetting her own self, as it would only demands so much from herself physically, mentally n emotionally that eventually she would become the one who's sacrificing more for the upbringing of the child be it at the cost of keeping her hard earned career aside for few years. If one would be sensible enough to understand the urgency n importance of climate change mitigation then that would also get to realise the importance of being supportive of antinatalism. Climate change mitigation is the biggest urgency of the globe right now n being an antinatalist might bring us more towards it as it has the biggest impact onto climate change mitigation globally. If one would care for the planet they should consider either having no child or atleast adopting instead of procreation. It would also give liberty to the females from going through every pain n sacrifices they go through bringing a child.
