The accidents the train had was not because of the grade crossings , it’s because of the drivers going around the crossings and doing illegal things. It happens with freight trains also

Yes, even freight trains, which move much slower than the average Floridian drives smh

Bright-line is faster than a plane. That other RU-vidr you referenced didn't make a fair comparison & didn't even take direct which is about 3.5 hours. Planes have all kinds of delays & the lines for TSA are huge!

It’s amazing. When I took it to go to Disney world from Miami. The train came at the exact time and I was in Orlando 3 hours later. I just took an Uber to the train station and didn’t have to worry about parking or gas. The train was really comfortable and had Wi-Fi. Will do again

Great video and it definitely reminded me of how fortunate living in France with proper high speed rail networks at my disposal is. Also loved the subtle jab at Jeb 😅

Brightline should share their experience with their new starlink network service on their trains, as the first in the world train operator to use it, and share it with Amtrak, Via rail, and others, tell them all the benefits and advantages, so they can also install it on all of their trains.
@Travelog
@Travelog 10 месяцев назад
That’s a good point about the fact that it’s Starlink, I had that in my notes but it totally got lost when I wrote the script. JSX also uses starlink in the air. Whatever you think of Elon, it’s a cool technology that has the potential of really improving WiFi for planes and trains.

You say killed as if they did it maliciously. It is the drivers who have decided to try and drive around the gates. Might I add the section with the most accidents is the WPB-Fort Lauderale-Miami segment which has a 79mph speed limit, the same as freight.

Some of the trains have a whole trainset or individual cars with an advertising wrap that includes the windows that seriously obstructs your view of the passing scenery. You can't find out if the trip you booked will have one of those trainsets.

I get "complains too much" a lot. Phone book reading is a new one! I poke fun at a lot of creators. Sam Chui, Jeb, Noel Philips, Dennis Bunnick, and Josh Cahil in a future video. From repeated comments, my audience actually finds it refreshing and funny. But you are proceeding from a false premise. I have no desire of being a big creator, or ever making this a material source of income. I doubt there are 600k people out there who would enjoy my style of content. And that's ok. That's the beauty of RU-vid, you can find a creator that caters to all sorts of different audiences. But if you appeal to everyone you need to either rely on drama or be very bland and inoffensive, and I'd rather be me and draw downvotes.

It is not a high speed train, high speed trains travel at 155mph.

I mean we can get technical if you prefer. UIC category II high speed rail is 200kph, ie 124mph. Hence why in the video I explicitly say that it briefly technically hits the minimum definition of high speed rail. Is it true high speed rail, ie category I? No. Never said it was.
@Shytot-1

@@Travelog The UK only has one HS train and that's the Eurostar, its speeds are between 100mph and 181mph, 100mph in the actual tunnel. There are dozens of commuter trains that regularly run at 125mph and 140mph but they are not seen as HS trains.

Let's compare Brightline to China Railways Brightline CR - Hundreds of railway crossings. - None ( except for some regular trains that are not high speed ) - Top speed of 125 MPH in some sections - Full 186-217 MPH on Main Line sections, and 125-155 MPH in sub line sections - Seats are comfortable and have 2nd and 1st class. - 2nd class is worst ( 2-3 instead of 2-2 ) 1st class is a little worst ( seat are comfortable in a 2-2 ) - Stations are new and clean! - Stations are bigger and mostly clean, and crowded all the time but have more shops and is more impressive( Tie ) - Some delays due to railway crossing and shared railroad - Almost no delay unless weather - Provided full meal service in 1st class. - None provided in both classes ( There is meals in the class with lie flat seats) - Speed close to a car - Way faster most of the time - Only between Orlando to Miami. - Almost everywhere in Mainland China - Has good Wifi - Might have it, but never get it to work - Pretty easy to book, not normally sold out. - Fast trains sold out the time bookings open, and all trains are sold out 1-2 days before departure Score: Brightline 5 China Railways 6 ( close, but China Railways still win on higher speeds )
@itstimefor...9492

Stations is a tie, since China has multiple stations in bigger cities, and they are not very close to the city center, and Bightline's station is at the airport and near the Miami downtown.

On my first ride on Brightline from Orlando, I was really pleased. The trip down was so smooth and the return was a little delayed because there were very severe wind in southern Florida, but they handled it well.

I love the subtle jabs you have with the other content creators lol It’s all out of fun so that’s entertaining. The seats look pretty comfortable. I definitely will miss the Amtrak Amfleet sets… but it’s only a 3 hour train for Brightline ride from start to finish so it should be great. Great vid!

Throwing shade at Jeb Brooks I expected, (wouldn't be the first time 😆) but I did not expect to discover that Travelog watches Armchair Urbanist. As for Brightline I hope they stay successful, it would be fun to try out a train that doesn't feel like either an old city bus, or American Airlines Economy for once.
@Travelog
@Travelog 10 месяцев назад
Indeed I do! I also don’t have anything personal against Jeb, I’m subscribed and used to watch his content. It’s just it’s become a bit “mass market.” He’s cracked RU-vid and earns a living off it. I have no intention in ever doing that, so my content is always just going to be a bit different. I’ve got one other jab at Jeb in a future video airing next spring.
@johnswanson2600

@@Travelog I enjoy Jeb Brooks' content, mostly because it's fluffy and generally positive content that I don't have to think too hard about. So given the cynical humor you use in your videos, there's no way you CAN'T jab at the mainstream youtube channel that makes videos like that.

Facts. Considering several Americans were on the panel of engineers that designed the Shinkansen in 1963, we here could’ve had bullet trains a LONG time ago.
@halholland1637

You did see all the road crossings? Right? Florida doesn't want to lead the world in Bullet trains. It wants to not lose money while virtue signaling. After buying their third bus that ran on magic Unicore gas, Orlando finally wised up.

Nobody expects a “fast” train in America. My condolences to the families of those 100 people but if you don’t want to be a factor of natural selection, maybe dont walk, bike, or drive in front of any train for that matter. After all, even if you can’t hear the horn, there are flashing signals and physical barriers to warn you one is coming 🤷‍♂️
@shechshire
@shechshire 10 месяцев назад
All the things you're mentioning about what it should be are true but they needed to achieve a level of revenue that proves this business model. Truly electric fast speed rail is very expensive. In Europe, it's more expensive than a plane. Unlike planes, these guys don't get subsidization from the government. They need to plan their business & take it step by step so tickets can remain reasonably priced for the average rider. This is why bright line is beating the California government because they don't know anything about business.

Yes, I definitely agree taking brightline is comfortable more than taking an airplane. And. You have usually have a huge security line in Orlando airport, which, of course they have to do that, but the security line for the train., I happen to be the only one waiting in line at that time.

Well, yes, but to greater and lesser extents. 93% of households in Florida have a car, compared to 71% in NY and 64% in DC. Also some states invest in large rail projects (like California), while Florida…doesn’t.
