Some people will tell you, “America is not a Christian nation. Look at how sinful it is.” They will say that the Founding Fathers weren’t Christian and most were deists. But is that all true? The reality is that America wouldn’t exist if Christians had stayed out of politics. In fact, everything that makes America great today is us living in the blessing of prosperity birthed in morality from God.

Technically, America is not a Christian nation. If we were, we'd be a Theocracy, and God's Word would be our Law. Christians do, however, need to have influence in every area of life in this free land. I get that people came here for religious freedom, but when the founding fathers penned the governing documents of this nation, serving the Christian God was not a requirement by law. This is why every other religion has freedom here, including the ridiculous "church" of satan.

I think that America was an imperfect Christian nation but with much promise. I don’t think that a nation needs to be a theocracy in order to be considered a Christian nation. One important element for a nation to be Christian is that it needs to have a majority of Christians who have instituted the moral law of God as a foundation for all laws. Which we had more of in the past. A Christian nation can and should have Christian political leaders and still have separation of Church and state. Civil government and Church Government should be separate from one another, yet both have a responsibility to obey God. There’s much to be said about how this ought to work while still giving room for freedom of religious expression or no religion at all, for individuals. Suffice it to say that we can glean a lot from the word of God to help our thinking on this subject.

@Declared-righteous I agree, but that is not Ametica. Look at the models of the actual majority Christian nations around the world. Africa has many. Some Christian nations, like Muslim nations, use force even.

@@b0rn1king I think what I described was very close to what the Colonies looked like and even post-Constitution America. Though it is debatable as to whether the Federal Government was necessary, I think that what our ancestors were given could have worked if more individuals had obeyed God. For example, I think as a nation that was majority Christian, we should have repented of slavery much sooner. Instead, it took a civil war and the abuse didn’t end there. Yet, the law towards black men and women did change, which was the Godly thing to do. If you read the justification for ending slavery in America and Great Britain it was founded upon the Bible. But there’s much weaved into our foundational form of Government that is very Christian. If you haven’t read it already, you might be interested in reading “Slaying Leviathan” by Glen Sunshine.
