I got a 11' F150 with the 3.5L currently at 216k miles. Only things that went wrong are the transmission blew (my fault) and the water pump started leaking and had it replaced. Other than that she is strong. Can spin my 35x12.5s easily it is leveled. The secret to keep this engine going is to do your basic maintenance.
Agreee I have an 11 FX4 and I had timing failure at 225k miles. Sadly mechanic did a bad job and blew the same engine but I’m sure it could’ve lasted 275k+ miles
I currently have a 13 FX4 ecoboost. I absolutely love it. So far I've done 🐈less down pipes, 3inch MBRP exhaust. And have a BDX tuner on the way. I also had an 11 5.0 I'll be honest it was gutless compared to this eco.
I have a 2020 f150 3.5 ecoboost,it’s my second one, love them. They pull like a diesel literally, and get decent mpg empty. Torque is everywhere, I left the diesel world due to not needing I bag camper anymore and due to the emissions systems. This was a natural transition…I love boost.
I have a 2013 platinum with the ecoboost engine and I love it. I take care of it and do regular maintenance and it has been super reliable. We loved that truck so much that we got a second one for my wife. My only complaint is they don’t sound as cool rolling down the street as a big v8. But I live in California so the ecoboost is the way to go.
This is probably your most informative video of the year. I love my 2018 ecoboost and I'm going to send pics as soon as my fabtech lift and kenda klevers that I got from you are on!
Got a 2013 f150 fx4 with the 3.5 and have 210k miles. Did timing chains at 200k as "preventative maintenance". As a gm mechanic I'm not used to seeing timing chains last longer that 100k miles and was very happy when I pulled my front cover and realized I probably could've made it to 300k before having to do chains
I’m currently at 301,199.1 (sitting in my truck right now) I couldn’t be happier with my 2013 just did a lead frame and have upgraded my manifolds to a newer 3 bolt style and replaced the bolts.
@@Reconbeatz509doing great just crossed 263,000 needs a left hand valve cover bc it’s cracked. Still gets taken on 30 hour plus road trips once over 4 months.
2011 f150 236,000mi FBO, E30 tune. Did the exhaust manifolds at 200,000 and the original water pump last week. They are more difficult to work on but i have been extremely impressed with the engine.
I wasn't a fan of the Ecoboost until I drove one. Now I own one and love it! At least right now anyway. Time will tell how reliable it is over the long run.
I had a 18 with the 2.7 ... blast for sure I then turned it in and now have a 21 with a 3.5... makes you think you can take on anything haha! Love it. Plus I have heard they tow better then the 5.0
My grandad owns a 2013 3.5. Despite his age, he still drives it like he stole it. Got it at 8k miles, now it has (about) 110k. Only bad problem is how much they hate cold weather. Truck is always sluggish below 50F and gets mileage. Tows like a champ too.
@@shotplacement21 3.5 is miles ahead of the 5.0 in terms of towing. Literally no comparison. You have to rev the piss out of the 5.0 at every stop light while the 3.5 quietly pulls away below 3k rpm.
I went from a 2017 2.7L Ecoboost to a 2021 XLT 3.5L Ecoboost and love them both. I know some folks like the noise of a 5.0L but I’m just not one of them.
@@rizingpho3nix yeah the 3.5 makes a considerable amount more torque than the 5.0 but tbh both are amazing options and ford really has topped chevy and dodge the last 2 generations I would say
I’ve owned 4: 2012 Lariat 2015 Lariat 2017 Lariat 2020 Platinum I loved each and everyone of them. Very powerful considering they are only V-6’s. But I bought a 30 foot toy hauler and decided to upgrade to a 2022 2500 Cummins.
@@neby_nebs add a 2022 Platinum. I put more miles than most people do on my vehicles and usually try to trade them in around the 90 to 100,000 mile mark
@@poorthingproductions do they still hold any trade in value at that point? how much does the dealer give you back, especially if you're a repeat customer?
Got my 2012 FX4 ecoboost used, and immediately got oil catch cans, run good fuel, keep the filters and oil changed on a 4 month rotation. Cold air, 4 inch exhaust, and she runs great. Wheels and tires are next.
had one brand new from 2015 to 2020 when i rolled and wrecked it. i legit only changed the oil on it literally once a year if that, only popped the hood to refill windshield washer fluid, drove it on countless 1000 mile plus road trips, battered it off roading in colorado and utah and straight up abused it it’s whole life. great truck.
I own a 2013 f150 ecoboost crew cab short bed fx4. 168k miles with leveling kit with 20x9 Mavericks 33x12.50x20 nittos. Little bit of rub backing at full tilt. 18mpg zero issues. Damn do I love the looks of this truck.
Had a 16 platinum and now have a 17 limited. My 16 had a 6 inch lift with 24x12s on 35s. Still would slap leveled 5.0s. Drove it across the country for pipeline and it saw all types of terrain and long idle or drive time. The motor is an absolute stud. My favorite gas engine I’ve ever had. Close second would be the 5.3. Only downside to the eco boost is if you do a level with 33x12.50 your gas mileage takes a huge hit. Lifting it is oven worse. My 16 only got like 11.5 to 12 most of the time. Good looking trucks though.
I own a 2018 F150 STX with the 2.7 Eco Boost...I love it! It definitely has get up and go when I want it plus great gas mileage. I put a Rough Country 2 inch level on it and doing wheels/tires in the next 6 months (once my current tires wear out). I highly recommend it!
I have a 2018 2.7 EB and couldnt be happier. Its only leveled on 33s, but it definitely handles its own against V8 trucks, 5.3 Chevy and 5.7 Ram cant touch it.
Some of my best memories is working on vehicles with Dad. From flying tools, multiple curse words weaved together in barly comprehensible sentences, to the roar of ford V8 engine with fresh heads, longtube headers, offroad Y pipe and exhaust. I learned everything I know watching and helping dad.
12 fx4 ecoboost crp full bore headers, stage 3 turbos with turbine housing adapters, 3in cated y pipe. Inter cooler intake running a tune. 176,000 miles running strong only failure was the valve body years ago switched it out myself never gave me another problem we’ll see with the higher mileage I’m putting on it
@@OfficialRegulatededitss I should have done internal upgrades but I don’t push mine all crazy I believe melling has a high volume oil pump which you could put on with the 85psi spring if you keep internals stock. Look into crpengineering or I went with 5startuning they get the turbos from crpengineering well worth the money in my opinion you can really tell a difference
I have a 2013 F150 3.5 Ecoboost Limited. Never an issue..223,540 miles..I outsold Ford..mostly trucks at a dealership in Belleville Wisconsin...Oil changes are vital to the Ecoboost..I change my oil every 40,000, probably more than necessary. I still get 18 to 19 MPG. Never a timing chain issue.
Currently on my 2nd Ecoboost. First was a 15 Fusion with the 1.5L. Now in a 19 Ranger with the 2.3. I kind of screwed up and bought a RV that’s gonna be right at edge of what I’d be comfortable towing with the Ranger (28’ and about 6800lbs) so I’m not sure if I need a bigger truck for safety if I get a older PowerStroke (7.3 preferably but open to a 6.0 if it’s in good shape) or a F150 with one of the Ecoboosts. Other than the high pressure pump acting up at about 90k miles on the Fusion, absolutely zero issues.
I LOVE my 15 ecoboost! Had it for about a year now, and I have no complaints at all. I did some work to it(cold air, MBRP 4 inch exhaust, and morimoto y pipe from the turbos) but that's only because I HATE stock lol
@@ernestogarcia4563 I haven't noticed any hard shifts. I bought it with 81k on it, it's now at 131k. Like I said, I did do some work to it, but nothing in the transmission. I've pulled my boat with it up and down hills at the lake, which isn't that big or heavy(18ft bass boat) but I never had any problems. Even before the work was done it didn't give me any trouble.
If you want to get technicole, yes. The fiesta was the first to bare the ecoboost name. But the ecoboost traces its lineage back to the mazdaspeed 3 and mazdaspeed6 from the early 2000s.
Not gonna lie was a bit skeptical of the eco boost... and I'm coming from a 7.3 and a 6.0 powerstroke. Now have a 2015 ecoboost and it impress at every turn. I pull trailers regularly and it pulls everything with out a hiccup fule mileage is grate and is a solid truck very happy with it
Curious how many miles you have on it. I am looking into the PowerBoost but am concerned about longevity in a twin turbo v6. I have a 2004 Tahoe with the 5.3 with 200k and never an issue aside from replacing water pump at 180k. Looking for a new truck I can get 200k out of with no major issues.
@@chrisdemas8246 I recommend you watch the torture test that top gear did for the 3.5L eco boost. I drive a 2014 3.5L and I’ve had no issues this far with 125,xxx miles on it I’ve done all the maintenance in the truck and it runs like a dream definitely recommend gets about 17 mpg going 60-65 and all in all I’ve had great experiences with it
I had a 2013 ecoboost. I miss it. It was quite a bit stouter than the next truck which was a 5.0 and they were both substantially stouter than the 04 GMC 5.3 that both my boys drove through high school. I’m currently in a Taco but will soon be back in a ecoboost or powerboost. Maybe a f250 with a 6.7 (I don’t need it just kinda want it).
I have 128k miles on my 2014 F150. I change the oil every 3500 miles. Only issue so far was the leaking vacuum pump. Still a strong engine that I am very happy with.
I don’t know why i just thought of this, but what ever happened to the Chevy Reaper? I remember they made a concept for it, but then never heard another thing.
I remember there were two for sale at a dealership near me. A top of the line one and a lesser one. They were a lot of money and didn’t look all that nice. Their unique styling didn’t go well with that generation (slopping nose but boxy headlights etc…). I feel if they brought the Reaper back with its styling but on the current Chevy generation it would look sooo nice.
Never thought I would like it as much as I did but 2014 FX4 EcoBoost loved it so much only issue rust badly just traded it a few months back 2018 lariat EcoBoost fully loaded so love the truck
Love my 2013 bought it with 50,000 miles at the end of 2017 just shy of 115,000 miles now and almost 30,000 miles of that have been towing either boat, car hauler, and camper I've towed as much as 15,000 pounds on short trips and once between passengers and a box full of cement blocks and mulch had almost 4000 pounds of weight on the truck an never bottomed out the suspension and have had no issues I absolutely love that engine
Like randomly loosing oil pressure... or how they don’t like to start with old oil.. lol worst thing they ever put them in was the econoline vans. No friggin room . One of them were in our other bay today . I chose to work on a 6.4 instead 😂 they had the whole thing apart for a single leaking o ring under the drivers valve cover. Not long after a dealer bulletproofed it for the man. 6.0’s are great , but you need tools . Lol
Buddy that shit has been told time and time and time again just ask a cummins or duramax guy they will tell you for free all the problems they have and why they suck which you just have to take because they aren’t really wrong
Looking to buy an F-150 EcoBoost within the next two weeks. I’ve already experienced the EcoBoost in an Explorer Sport, and it is no joke. It is by far the most refined engine I’ve ever been behind, and also very quiet. At idle it ticks away quietly at 600 rpm’s. But this is no lazy engine, you put your foot into it and if you’ve got the radio turned down you hear the turbo spool and the endless torque just starts pushing you down the road. This engine doesn’t even break a sweat towing anything under 5,000 lbs, and you’ve got plenty of passing power at disposal. The one huge drawback with this engine is that mercilessly guzzles gas. When driving on backroads, it only managed to average 20 mpg. The best I’ve ever gotten from it was on a 3 hour long highway trip where it managed 32 mpg, but I haven’t seen those kinds of numbers ever again. Great engine, just be ready to maintain it religiously and pay for only slightly better fuel economy than a V8.
All I’m going to say is I bought my first truck 2020 ford-150 2.7L 4x4 and from LA to Caldwell ID I filled the tank once. I even had the decked drawer in the back.
Have 2018 Expedition Max.... beautiful, comfortable, powerful and economical. I've gotten 22.5 mog hwy on the regular. I did phasers myself, along with Motorcraft plugs, filters, coolant hoses etc. All parts cost less than $900 including all timing components. Haven't had any issues. 109k mi
Went from a much loved but no longer needed '11 6.7 Lariat CCLB to a 3.5 Eco XLT Sport SC and love that one now except for the dinky 6.5 foot bed. I do NOT miss $4.50 diesel fuel and $13/jug DEF. If I need a nice soothing V8 rumble, I just crank up the modified 302 (5.0) engine in my '31 Ford roadster and go for a ride around town.
Bought a used 2015 today. I'm a Chevy man but damn when I stepped on the pedal I became a believer. I got the lariat. I don't know much about Ford trim levels or engines so I was definitely hesitant but then I drove it.
I have a 2021 f150 3.5 ecoboost 4x4 it has 51k on it in witch my dad bought new and I just got it as a Xmas gift being he bought a 2024 gmc 3500 Denali dually ultimate I was totally surprised by the power and and hauling handling I'm truly impressed so when warranty is up I plan to do a tune nothing crazy and a Exhaust upgrade with waistgate we shall see how she holds up never though I would see a v6 doing what they do honestly great video Marry Christmas to everyone
I have 2016 f150 lariat eco boost 3.5 . The power that such a small cubic inch engine can put out amazes me , and it’s hard to comprehend this is just an engine out of a Taurus . I had a 2010 Mazda truck with the 4.0 litre ,and the mileage was worse and the truck smaller too boot, so it’s quite an accomplishment to have far better ergonomics and better mileage with no negatives that I have found so far . Maybe I’ll change my mind if I have a catastrophic failure , but I only have 27,000 kilometres on it since I purchased it in 2016, and ford changes the oil when they swap the winter tires off and on, so she’s getting a major amount of oil changes to actual miles used
Had a gmc 1500 with 100 000km had trouble towing 3000pounds, traded it in for a 3,5 ecoboost was towing a 6000pound camping rv felt like i was pulling a quad , i dont regret buying one at all
My 2 cents from an '13 F150 Eco owner: They're great trucks till they're not. At about 100k the turbo coolant lines will start to leak and will be very costly if you are not mechanically inclined and fix it yourself. It's is a time consuming job to do yourself. If that's not enough the eco also will require new cam phasers and chains which will also cost a small fortune. So, unless you plan to trade it in after so many miles I would say go 5.0 or get the maximum extended warranty you can get FROM FORD not aftermarket. I hope Ford has fixed this issue on the newer models or that will be a huge mess for them.
I currently have a 2020 f150 with the 2.7 ecoboost and it has been a great truck. I also had a 2018 (same truck basically) with the 2.7 and I beat the hell out of it. It handled everything just fine and I never had an issue. I would probably buy an ecoboost based off my almost 4 years experience driving them but I would probably go with the 3.5. The 2.7 is a great little engine but it is pushing almost 30 pounds of boost so longevity is something i'd be more concerned with.
2012 Platty, Corsa DB exhaust with a res delete and she sounds like a baby diesel. Catch cans are an absolute must for this engine! got over 176k and shes still kicking like bruce lee! just started doing the timing/phaser rattle at start up if i havent started her in a couple days.
As far as a Ecoboost in a fiesta i had a 2017 Fiesta ST and it’s actually a 1.6L not a 1.0 I built mine Big turbo kit, Mishimoto front mount intercooler, hardened charge pipes, short throw shift kit, 1 step colder NGK spark plugs, bigger injectors, Whoosh Race Rear motor mount, Custom cold air intake etc. tuned on 93 I was pushing 306hp to the front tires so yeah the Ecoboost is capable
Mines dead in the driveway until my timing chain comes in from being on back order.... other than that pretty good fully loaded platinum makes it really enjoyable to drive
Had a 2017 3.5 ecoboost, leveled on 34’s. Loved it, but had to change phasers twice. Plus a few other issues. Just traded up to a 2021 3.5 ecoboost. Had some custom paint and decals added. Just waiting on my 4” BDS lift & Nitto trail grapplers. Will be adding to gallery once all the work is done.
“Hello”.Can you guys do me a favour.I can buy a 2013 2500 Chevy V8 for $1500 but I need to get a transmission for it how much would that cost. But is it a good idea to buy it for $1500.It also has 300,000km and a little surface rust on the box fenders but if I do buy it how would I fix that.
I’m team V8, if I wanna have more power a super charger will make insane power on the Coyote 5.0L Plus I like the V8 rumble, and not having to worry about over complicated turbo issues.
I love the eco boost had 3 different company trucks with a eco boost over the past 6 years. Cam fazzer was an issue but I think ford figured that so finally I bought one for myself a 2021 f150 xlt sport 4wd love it but I want to make it look better looking at wheels and tires. Do you guys have someone I can chat with in your website to help me pick the right wheel tire combo would love to hear back from you thanks again for the viedos.
Going with a 2021 3.5 ecoboost in my new truck, had a 5.0 in my 2018 that I had plans to build up but sadly she had a drinking problem that she just couldn’t get over, 1 qt every 1000 miles even after the tsb from ford 🥲 I loved the V8 sound but couldn’t justify getting the new truck with the same engine after the heartache I went through.
