It worked! This really improves the performance of my Mac and now it doesn't sound like a Jet Engine, thanks for the advice.

You’re welcome. If you want to further improve performance try this other value. But only if you have plenty of RAM and are 100% confident that it won’t run out. My Mac Pro now has 18gb and for logic, this is fine. Otherwise, you can expect crashes. nvram boot-args="vm_compressor=8”

thanks for the help it managed to get my mid 2010 15 inch mbp running sonoma from idling at 90-100% cpu usage to idleing at like 20-30%!!!

I usually keep this off, since a lot of what I do requires so. I believe turning this back on will also affect this setting change.

My apologies for the poor production quality. Perhaps I shall make an update video one day. nvram boot-args="vm_compressor=1" These days, I use a different value. If you have lots of RAM and are 100% confident that it isn’t gonna run out in what you’re doing then use this one. nvram boot-args="vm_compressor=8”
