Thank you for the very insightful demo of Aquario! I'm intrigued by this plugin. I wish that they were offering a free trial. I've posted in textile design groups asking for feedback from others about it. The response was not that good.....not from people who've used it but from designers who felt they were already pretty good at doing these things in photoshop as it is. Some were also really put off that we had access to that free photoshop plugin for textiles, only to have it taken away and instead presented with something that costs $25 a month. That being said, it looks like it would be fun to try.
I totally get all of that. I wish they had a free trial, too! It's not that expensive, but if you don't really like it, you're out $25 bucks! And yeah, kind of messed up that the beta plugin was free and now you have to pay for it. It'll be interesting to see how this goes. To your point, I think a lot of people have been designing so long without a plugin that paying $25 for something that's good (but not great!) seems silly at this point.
I really liked it. While I can do a regular repeat easily in Photoshop, I always struggle with halfdrop repeats and I find it really quite good for that. Yes, the output is not very comfortable, but you can manage. BUT... I've been using it for a year, I think, and there have been no updates. I mean, it's a subscription model and you expect that. But the biggest problem is that it no longer works for me with the current version of Photoshop. Support has only advised me to downgrade to an older PS version. I replied that I pay PS to always have the latest version and I certainly don't want to downgrade. And what solution do they have in mind? There was no reply. I'm going to cancel my subscription before it will renew, because it doesn't make any sense for me.
Hi, Andrea. Thanks for watching and commenting! That's pretty whack that they told you to downgrade. Who does that? And Photoshop is about to upgrade again next week when the Adobe conference starts. And no support! Ooof!! 🤦🏾♀I'm glad you're cancelling. I know what you mean about the half drop, but I don't know if it's worth it if you have to use an older version of Photoshop to do it and if they're not upgrading their software.
I used it for a month and I really didn't like it too much. Starting with the fact that the preview is not automathic and it was slow to see each change. But the worst thing to me was that when I exported the file to obtain the rapport, it was a mess of layers and many elements could not be edited anymore because they were flattened. In addition to the fact that since I live in South America, it really does not compensate for the price for me. I'd rather wait for them to improve it and pay for something more worthy.
Thank you so much for watching and for this very honest review! The manual preview is VERY annoying, and you're right, it's slow. Personally, I think the plugin overall is slow, but I thought maybe I was just being impatient (LOL). I also think they need a free trial, at least a few days or a week. It is the first iteration, so hopefully it'll get better. And I'd initially heard that they were going to work with Nedgraphics to do this plugin. Maybe they couldn't come to an agreement. But anyway, my point is that perhaps Nedgraphics will create their own plugin. Or maybe some other companies will work on one. Having more competition will push the developers to improve the functionality.
