Born in 73, Blackpool was magical growing up. Now its sadly become run down. Foxhall village and Central drive look a disgrace. Sadly all the wonderful shops and markets on the back streets have gone too.
Blackpool feels like a mix between a post apocalyptic city and a haunted amusement park. There's an unwholesome unsettling feeling to the place that the camera doesn't do justice.
Great video. Blackpool born and bred so love place. Shame u didn't video up by train station where lots of new development. Lots of old hotels need knocking down or doing up as houses/flats but lots just seem to be empty for years and years.... but loved video
@@pammackenzie8917 I've not knocked the town what you on about? Went for the classic English day out at the seaside. Not gonna walk around a fancy mall or upscale area are we...
Think ive found two new favourite youtubers to watch, big fan of mark weins and Harald baldr, but honestly going to binge watch your abroad vids this week after work. Love you guys!!
Guys epic vlog loving the uk series, bingo was so nostalgic , My aunt lived in Manchester ( now passed away ) but when my mum went to visit her in uk they would love going to play bingo , loving the native people so friendly willing to answer any questions with history etc greetings from Emerald Isle 🇮🇪🫶🏻
Went to Blackpool loads of times in the 1960s as a kid. Brilliant. Years later on a visit we lost our young son, aged 3, for 2 hours in the Pleasure Beach. An older son almost fell out a ride. Talk about scared and getting TF out of there quick. Went back 10 years and used it as a base for a week when back from TH. It's grotty back from the front but TBH I still 💕 it.
I do miss Blackpool we often went when the rebellion festival was on at the winter gardens. Enjoy your videos only came across your channel a few days ago. Looking forward to your trip to Mexico, we have been a few times years ago, the food is so good there.
Hiya! Loved this! You can't beat doughnuts, rock, bingo, fish and chips and a 2p slot machine hahaha. How do you feel being back in GB? There are so many wonderful places to visit here. Safe travels x
Blackpool, It’s tacky but easy going and something for everyone on the whole! Very easy to spend a lot there too. Seafood bar was nice to see! As there has been loads of pork food on the England vlogs. We visited the fish chip shop that had donner kebabs too and it was good! Fresh and the full group was sorted.
Definitely a good little day out, she's run down but it is what it is! Yeah we love pork aha its life for most of us! Good to hear the food was good, can't go wrong if things are done fresh and proper! Have a lovely weekend.
Hiya mate, another good upload, thank you! I believe the cheapest pub in Blackers is the Ardwick, £1.80 a pint. We might have to go there on our next visit cos thanks to you pair of buggers, Bury market has cost us a bomb this afternoon!! Bloody funny watching our dog, Harls tackle a chunk of tripe, he shook the hell out of it before he eventually ate it. Well funny! Cheers guys ❤
Bloody loved this guys. It actually made me feel a bit emotional ❤ I’m from Stoke On Trent so Blackpool was a staple annual day out for me from as far back as I can remember. It used to be packed in the 80s and 90s. We’ve also stayed over in a few B&Bs there over the years. It would be heaving with people back then in the summer holidays and the Potters Fortnight that it used to be. Mum always thought it was a dive 😂 but took us anyway because we loved it. I’ve got A LOT of very very beautiful memories of this place with some people that are no longer here today. We were so excited when we knew we’re going. And absolutely, you can’t go Blackpool or any seaside without having fish n chips. I’m 50 now and the last time I went was around 10 years ago. I took my niece and nephew to experience what I used to experience and I’m glad to say they loved it. But it wasn’t quite the same, maybe because I’m older and have experienced some beautiful places around the world since those days as a kid. But one thing for sure, I will always cherish every memory I’m fortunate enough to still have of Blackpool. It really was the Las Vegas of the north. It’s a shame to see so many places boarded up and looking so run down. However it still looks posh compared to Stoke 😂 So cheers for this guys. This took me on a nostalgic journey I didn’t realise I needed to go on. True story….. I moved house a couple of years ago and I found 3 sticks of rock in a draw from Blackpool from years ago 🤦 it had gone soft but I tried a bite for old times sake and it were still bloody lovely 😂
Yeah, me too. I found Ellis channel while he was sitting with Gary and one other guy I forgot his name. Anyway back into the first time seeing Ellis on RU-vid with Gary sitting somewhere in Thailand 🇹🇭 😅 trying Thai food and chatting. I think at the time Ellis had over 10 thousands subscribers. I'm glad to see Ellis's channel has grown and successful over a 100k subscribers now. 🎉🙌
Blackpool is still great people saying it's a dying area yet it still brings thousands in every summer I've lived here for years and it's best for the beach,sunrise/sets, quiet, loads to do, yes you have your bad areas but you get bad areas everywhere you go so nowhere is perfect
Oh I like the coast like. Gotta say it's one of most deprived towns we've seen in UK though. She is what she is, rough in parts but a good day out none the less!
As a thought experiment, imagine you spent your day in Blackpool blind folded. What would your opinion be based on? Maybe the multiple friendly people you interacted with? The many fully independent and affordable food and drinks outlets? The many affordable opportunities to have old school fun? Its often easy to brand a place a s*it hole based on appearance only, but its a cheap judgement and disregards the many other unique faculties a place brings. A great example is the contrast between your commentary in the pub, and the branding of it as "rough" in the thumbnail. I can only imagine it is labelled as such based on appearance only as I couldnt make out anything that happened to you that would constitute as "rough". As someone born in Blackpool, and has since moved to a more modern and affluent city for work, I often return home craving the friendliness, colourful characters, independent pubs and affordable fun which won't be spoiled for me by the sight a few boarded up hotels. I by no means mean to critisise your video or yourself. Just my thoughts of how shifting focus from shallow appearence can completely change someone's opinion of a place, and this is what Blackpool could do with.
There is no denying blackpool is one of the roughest seaside towns in't country. I didn't film much of the streets just behind the promenade but they are just terrible and full of substance users, probably some of the most deprived areas i've seen nation wide like. As you saw in the video yeah we had a great time, sadly if I call the video 'we had a great day in blackpool' nobody would watch to even see what its like. It's one o them. We like Blackpool for what she is and on a nice day shes definitely worth a visit.
Please don't change the title on my account. I am well aware of the issues Blackpool faces. However, as the place depends heavily on tourism it really is a difficult situation with not ignoring these issues but also defending it's reputation as a nice place to visit such that people aren't deterred from going there!
It's so sad for me to see Blackpool as it is today. I remember spending a lot of time there in 1956 (I was 16) We used to go there and would see the live shows with the stars of the day. Frankie Vaughan, Dickie Valentine, Max Bygraves and more. I had a girlfriend at the time and we had some wonderful times there, and, No, we didn't get married, but we have still kept in touch to this day. Great memories but sad to see it today in this video. It was so alive in the 50s. The Blackpool rock in those days was only one flavour and it was red, not all those different flavours and colours like today. The fish and chip meal is not too badly priced, twenty pounds is equal to $38 Australian, (where I live these days) and you wouldn't buy a meal like that for $38 over here. I wish people could travel back in time and see Blackpool as it was back in the day. Thanks for showing it as it is today and it is very nostalgic but so, so sad. I am now 83 years old but still remember Blackpool with great fondness and often think of the old days and the time spent there. There was a saying in England at the time and I quote..."If you haven't been to Blackpool, you haven't lived."
This is not the town He's down south shore where there us a lot of deprivation I can assure you if you were up in town you would see Blackpool in a different light xx
@@pammackenzie8917 This is all over from north shore to south. Reality is Blackpool is a deprived city same as most our northern towns. It is what it is come on. Still love the place but can't lie 🏴
I met Roy chubby brown there when I was a young girl. Did not like him one bit but was always some celebs doing the rounds. The ballroom with the organ coming up through the floor in tower! Brilliant. Black lace etc etc. just so much fun as a child
Nice upload! Blackpool at times reninds me of St.Kilda in Melbourne.. look up Luna Park in St.Kilda. Those old seaside towns in England definitely have their own look and feel hey. I can imagine what they would have been like in their heyday.
For me blackpool is the best place to visit in the uk with lake district second even on video blackpool seems so good compared to anywhere else then again alot of cities in uk i have not visited yet.
£20.50... I see the prices have almost caught up with the South. £13.50 for single fish, chips and peas where I am. Looks good though, hope you enjoyed it!
Totally agree with you both, I myself enjoyed Blackpool as a kid and then when I had my own children we used to take them a few times a year, it’s sad how it’s declined but I guess that’s the way of the world now… the traditional seaside holiday has gone down the pan rather than progressed. Saying that I don’t mind Scarborough or Llandudno or even better Whitby
Only found your channel tonight, have subbed. Nice couple exploring and saying how it is. Love the way you guys go "cheers" with your food bites. Have fun ^_^
I just love how you are showing us England. Loving your day trips and adventures. The fish and chips looked so good. No sign of any fish sauce and minty herbs 😂 As I am Australian, I just double the price in pounds to convert to Aussie dollars 😊
omg. Yay. You had fish 🐟 and chips mushy peas 🫛 I'm glad 😊 Good to see 🙂 black pool never changes sane with most places you know that stays the same ... Very true about the seagulls to 🐦 well put. 🌟🌟🌟🌟 hope both had a win. 🤔👍👍 blimey see 👀 rock still sane to. 😊
I am the same, I can't swallow tablets because I am afraid of choking, I chew them and they taste terrible, and what made it worse was my dad used to say I was a mardarse and made me swallow whole paracetamol tabs, but I just couldn't. If people think its weird thats their problem.
I went to Blackpool a few years ago for my son's birthday, never again. Gypsy kids running between the tables in hotels and pubs, making you second guess where your stuff is all the time. Crazy people everywhere - I was queuing in Argos when the guy in front of me was saying random stuff to the cashier. He turned to me, quoted something from a film, did a bird whistle and just looked at me, waiting for me to respond. The cashier's colleague slipped round the corner to have a good laugh 🤣 I can only compare my trip there to The Simpsons episode - New York vs Homer Simpson 😬
Very expensive now, did a day with my daughter n grandkids 2 weeks ago, 550 quid for a day out. 170 quid for wrist bands for pleasure beach for 2 adults n 3 kids. I could ov gone abroad for 2 weeks on my own lol 😂, but it's all about making memories with the kids.
Grim place now Blackpool from its 70s heyday. They keep spending money on the front & council attractions but don’t realise the whole front needs bulldozing & rebuilding. Then recycle the people there 😂
Haha Ellis I've been following you for ages and I was in Blackpool this week, sad I didn't bump into you. Blackpool is a mixed bag, some great places (Notriani's ice cream is the best I've ever had anywhere), some really good restaurants (especially for Thai food), good attractions you'll have to pay for (Tower, Zoo, Sealife Center, Pleasure Beach, Sandcastle). Some rougher areas around too though.
Happy dayz ...is a very happy family run business..Yes the shutters are a bit neglected but paint them and all you get is a blank canvas for graffiti artists.. They have an amazing bingo with unbelievable prizes.. A reasonable priced cafe at the back of the arcade that make fantastic breakfast.. freshly cooked pizza's.. nothing is too much trouble.. Its a child friendly and dog friendly bingo special wider space for the disabled with wheelchairs boards for not so good eyesight with brighter iluminated boards So as they say dont knock it till you try it. Seeing can be deceiving.
Used to always go to Blackpool with my parents back in the day. It's a shame the way it's gone now. You should of had a look around the flats. She wasn't giving away that price was she lol. U need go chippy
I think a lot of seaside in england have gone down hill. Becoues cost of living . no one got any money to spend ,every one waching what spending. You fish and chips looked lush 😘
Nah my friend, I reckon she's are fine. Look very sit back and relax town by the ocean. The people seems friendly too. Wish you two have a great day ahead. Looking forward to watch your next episode. 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍.
@@EllisWR Maybe people nowadays put away life values and not appreciate what's come before them (except you two)... Hope everything getting better especially what on going in UK today. Take care my friends.
Hi E&A Chewing means you taste it, thats a good thing. and its normal to feel uncomfortable to just swallow whole. tabasco, red hot chilli candy I knowwwww Eliis missed something.🌶🌶🌶 and I just know that bingo could b a real seriously business. thanks to show me that. 42:42 most delicious looking fish and chips that I've ever seen. Gorgeous!!! I love the vibes of this town ,relaxing seaside. Safety is the best , no need to rush. Hope everything back to normal and peaceful soon.
13:30 🎶 "Oh, well, a-bless my soul, we're at Blackpool beach, return itchin' like a man that's made up o' fleas, my friends say I'm wild eatin' these doughnuts, but, I'm in love, they're all shook up, hmmm, oooh, yeah, yeah, yeah" 🎶...... "Thank you, thank you very much"..... 🌝..... 🚪🏃♂️..... Soz..... 🫣🤧😩😂
Blackpool is not the same as it used to be when I was a kid it needs investment into new shops new amusements with more things to do to attract more people into the place, it still gets people coming from all over the world even the old folks coming down with their four wheeled walkers, the smellies come into coral island walked past you at the 2p pushers you have to hold your nose at the smell!, and of course the place would not be without it's smell of weed!!. Ah Blackpool it's iconic for that tower.
@@EllisWR we go blackpool about 6-8 times a year family & friends use mainly 3 boozers ma kellys north , the station pub , & best of all the soul suite
Its a right shit-hole, but, I do love the place! Tacky 'n crappy, but, "I doooo like to be beside the seaside, ohhh, I do like to be beside the seeeaaa" 🤸♂️
Oyster man made me laugh. Where do you get your food from? All over mate 😂 no sh1st given about food miles / local produce 😅 you might as well have gone to tesco.
There's not a seaside town any different. What the hell did you expect? There's some good and decent areas and attractions you could've picked but you picked all the roughest looking 👍
Fair enough pal, you do some great content. Blackpools on its arse but they are trying up on St Johns square and other bits of town. Hopefully a bit of the right investment can pull it back 🙌@@EllisWR
@@BearzyWhopper We actually like Blackpool and visit a fair bit rain or shine. Realistically when visiting you don't see all the bad stuff, only when you go mooching round the backstreets. Appreciate that thanks have a top week 🙏
random timing, i just watched one of those 'tenants from hell' programmes that was from just near that pier in Blackpool(they had a view of it from the lounge lol) and it was full of scummy junkies not paying rent lol
Forgot to tell you #amyjackson from #Liverpool was a star till now and current movie #thangalan #British #Actor going ... I am a die hard #richardburton #jasonstatham #DanielCaltagirone has done a #tamilmovie in #southindia
Ahah he just made his business look terrible it is what it is. Generally around the world when we ask people questions like that they tell us all about their business with great pride. Won't be going back like aha.
Hi just found your channel by accident great vlog am a RU-vidr myself I have to disagree with you about one pound burger there not minging quite the opposite actually I suggest you go back and try one
@@EllisWR Am good thanks yes try one on your mates channel you will be surprised there the same cash and carry burgers 🍔 that they sell on the prom at 3 times the price! Any way I have subbed you mate
Yeah your probably right! We've been eating some belting food around the world that's only problem so the mighty one pound burger might not hit the spot aha. Check his channel 'where is dan' Have a top weekend!!Thanks mate
Hang on a minute ... I adore you both and so appreciate how hard you work, but this is the very first time I've been disappointed. How can you vlog about Blackpool and not show me a single drag queen? Its like going to the Isle of Man and not mentioning motobikes.
