My opinion about her is that she is signing these roles just to gain that "mass" audience so when she does movies like Qala or Bulbbul it would be backed by her star power. Right now Bollywood is giving her all the B grade roles which other successful actresses would choose to pass basically all the roles objectifying woman and she's happy to do it as it gives her work and money (I don't blame her). Tripti, if you are reading this I was a big fan of your acting and I'm waiting to see you in movies like Qala, Bulbul again, hopefully this time the audience will appreciate.
I can't call her becoming an item girl. She's finally getting her commercial recognition. As someone who watched her since Bulbbul and Qala, I'm happy to see a new face in commercial films. Women are mainly subjected to the glamour roles and item songs in the industry(even nepo female stars) since, it's a patriarchal set up not only in India but in the world. If Alia, Jhanvi, Sara would have done BulBul and Qala they would have been considered as Superstar. The hype would have been different. The project they will receive next would have been different. Now, bollywood actresses are starving so much to get female centric role. And are unable to get one. While Tripti Dimri start her career with those kind of role and totally nailed it. Still, there is no such hype for her. I will always respect her for Bulbul and Qala. She deserves better. I hope she will get it.
She IS being typecast lol. I haven't enough of her to make a complete judgement but from the little I've seen she's a way better actress than the likes of Janvi Kapoor or Sarah Ali Khan, but they just keep getting good, proper characters one after the other even though they can't act to save their lives. Tripti is forced to accept these sort of roles because they're the only ones being offered to her and she does have to do SOMETHING to establish herself and make some money too. It's sad, really. I think audience and Mumbai's high rent made her to sign films just for living. It is audience's fault they didn't give her attention in Qala and Bulbul. Anyways she has to live in Mumbai for work which is tough if you don't have work specially in film industry. I am happy that she atleast getting Fame , growth and audience knowing her for something.

This is the same issue on people complaining about Varun Dhawan doing illogical masala films and the hot status of films like Veere Di Wedding. It is a show business at the end of the day and is run by not production houses or actors but by the audience. The audience shamelessly makes illogical masala mass films blockbusters and doesn't bat an eye when Dhawan does October, Badlapur or even Bhediya. Veere Di Wedding was criticised yet it became a hit whereas Bhaves Joshi that released on the same day and became a cult favourite was a flop. Tripti saw that people wants to see not acting, people actually doesn't care about the art she was associated with, hence she did what the show business, rather what the audience wanted.
