I think it's less about what she can imagine and more about understanding potential. She's able to make herself giant because she realized that potential is boundless, and when she ages people up and down, she isn't controlling their time. She's changing and manipulating their potential. When she 'ages up' her body into giant forms, she isn't going to grow into a giant, she's tapping into that potential that she *can* someday become a giant. She *can* someday become stronger. Because she can now envision paths beyond just being older or younger, she can now see and experience potential beyond her own human limits.
@DexHD31 Her opponent at the time figured it out and made it clear that it only works if she can envision that path for herself. If he can oppress her enough for that potential path to no longer be visible to her mentally, then it's not something she can do. If an arrow is punching into her, she can't potential forward out of danger since she doesn't believe she has that furure anymore. But she can revert back to a point before that arrow did that to her, more than likely, if she can understand that possibility.
I think it's more like "what if" scenario, where she thought "what if I become this" "what if I become that" and so on. If you think about it, she's basically the embodiment of the true nature of devil fruit. Remember what Vegapunk said about the origin of the devil fruits? He says that devil fruits come from the desires of someone to become something. Her devil fruit perfectly matches that description. It's like devil fruit's fruit. The latest leaks basically confirm that since (spoiler) she can literally copy another devil fruit abilities itself. Not only she can access the ability of Nika, she can also turn into his full form. Basically, there's 2 Nika fighting the Gorosei now. Although I still need to wait for the raw scan since I don't know whether it's true or not. If that's true, it is now confirmed that her devil fruit is at the same level as Luffy's devil fruit.

Pretty sure that kinda how Devil Fruits work, on a fundamental level, think back to Kaku and his fruit, giraffes cant do most of the shit he was doing with his body, regardless of what form he was in. Having an Abstract and imaginative mindset must be the best set up for a devil fruit user because then they can stretch and expand what the meaning of the devil fruit and its powers can do
I was about to say. A devil fruit isn't set in stone. People give in to their preconceived notions, which is why we see basic users believe that logic are strongest and zoan are weakest. If you can imagine your powers well enough, your powers will be what you imagine them to be.
Not just that but closely each fruits represents and embodys something and if the wrong person eats a fruit it's not gonna fully give its full power cuz that person doesn't embody the ideals of that fruit, like luffy since his fruit is Nika and Nika is the sungod who plays a fool it is perfect for luffy cuz he may seem like a fool from the outside he really isn't and has shown he Is absolutely smart and genuinely cares for others cuz of the many Times he has show pure rage towards the tyrants he defeated for hurting people from whom he has heard there story. Idea: what if Bonnie was the answer to showing the world the void century. She can turn back a place of the world and show people what all has been covered up. She would bring up the world governments big bads and also getting payback for Kuma. Also I saw someone say "WE NEED TO SEE KUMA'S SMILE AGAIN" I agree and in this idea we would see him restored or see him at least smile again. Its an idea.

If that truly is the case, theoretically she could not only mimic/alter any devil fruit powers(including their awakened forms), she could also mimic/alter the most powerful Haki users provided she has their lineage factor(s) which honestly is as ridiculous as Luffy literally being able to whatever he wants.

Bonnet devil fruit can actually base on how theory of evolution work as she can set future to a specific condition which similar to how we force to evolve due to the current condition Basically she just speed up the evolve process of every living organism
Bonny’s fruit is limited; Saturn stated that if the user discovers the truth, then the only possible future they can manipulate the target into is that truth. Example being her idea of Nika was some sort of giant similar to Gear 3, but when Luffy showed her Gear 5 she was then able to properly turn into what Nika is.

i dont think her power allows her to manipulate peoples souls or consciousness as well. that would be a little too crazy. if that was the case then people wouldnt realize something was off when they get their age changed by bonny. also ace has long died, even if she were to find his body's remains, it would not have a soul left.

The creativity and extention of devil fruit powers is what I live for. Like using the age fruit to then basically reach into the multiverse and pull out any version of yourself to use is crazy.
I wouldnt be suprised if bonneys fruit was the real gum gum fruit because by changing age she is basically just smaking them small like post gear three or post gear five and also she becomes bug similar tk stretching

To me, it only makes sense. Bonney manipulates different ages throughout different parts of her body then stacks those manipulations to make herself and/or her arms really big. Boonie first needs to trully believe in something, she was told about nika from young age(she started believing then) but started trully beliving after seeing it with her own eyes, BUT she can't use reality manipulation like luffy, she can only stretch her body
Bonney's Awakening could be either the 2 of the following: Reversal: Bonney can also alter the surroundings around her either back in time or future to concieve what happened or what is going to happen. She can also freely change ages without any restrictions while also altering the body or an object to its previous state. Shattered Reality (Which is the current speculated one): This is where Bonney imagines herself in a near distinct and false reality where she becomes what she thinks. The only downside is she may die in the false reality or something else going haywire but thats just to put a disadvantage of some sorts
While Luffy lets him use the environment the way he wants I feel like Bonney will be able to transforms herself into anything she wants through her "distorted future" ability. Maybe she'll be able to distort the past too so she's able to make her present self what she changed in the past and maybe she'll be able to go to extremes with he future / past abilities such as "changing her past to make her born as a Mink" so she can uses Electro, or become a Lunarian, or change her future so that she's able to become a Germa soldier to get enhanced physical abilities or knowing Rokushiki to be able to use Soru, Tekkai and other techniques. Being able to freely manipulate what she can become as a living being depending on the limit of her imitation meaning she may even mimick devil fruits abilities by distorting her body so that she is able to become rubber like Luffy.

that would be kinda horrifying if you’re just some random new recruit into the marines and then she hits you with her power, aging you 80 years into the future, sending you to your death bed
What if in the end, since a devil fruit is made from an idea of a person, that every devil fruit has the ability of luffy’s but they just haven’t unlocked it
Y'all forget that her fruit is basically tied with her imagination as in when she uses her fruit these are possible futures/past she can dream of so turning someone to a weak elder/baby is something easy to do. But using imagination to turn someone back to a specific prime version of themselves w/o knowing about em is hard. This is why as a child this fruit is so strong cus she doesnt know her future and her imagination is strong leading to a lot of possibilities but as she grows older and loses some of the imagination the fruit gets weaker.
She can even age things as well, which is crazy. Like if she found an old mouldy book she can reduce its age to read it. She can get in to anything, anywhere. The part that I don't get is if the fruit ages physiologically as well as physically. If so, Bonney is immortal.
I’m gonna throw it out there and predict that with all fruits you can use your imagination to create abilities, and that it is really the individual user who defines the power. At this point you can’t even say that this has been foreshadowed as it’s everywhere they just haven’t outright said it, but perfect examples have of this have been upon examining king and queens devil fruit abilities and the hilarious dialogue when the cast 1st see their moves
