Brazilian Blowout FAQs A Brazilian Blowout is a semi-permanent hair smoothing treatment that offers several benefits for those looking to manage frizzy, unruly, or difficult-to-style hair. Here's a comprehensive overview of its features, benefits, availability, and cost: What exactly is a Brazilian Blowout? A Brazilian Blowout is a liquid keratin formula treatment that creates a protective layer around each hair strand. This treatment is designed to smooth and straighten hair without permanently altering its structure. Features and Benefits: 1. Frizz Reduction: Significantly reduces frizz, making hair more manageable. 2. Smoothing Effect: Creates smoother, silkier hair texture. 3. Increased Shine: Enhances hair's natural shine and luster. 4. Faster Styling Time: Reduces blow-drying and styling time. 5. Customizable Results: Can be tailored to maintain some wave or curl while reducing frizz. 6. Improved Hair Condition: Strengthens and nourishes hair by creating a protective protein layer. 7. Versatility: Suitable for all hair types, including fine, medium, coarse, and even damaged hair. 8. Long-lasting Results: Effects can last up to 12 weeks with proper care. 9. Immediate Results: No waiting period after treatment; hair can be washed immediately. 10. No Line of Demarcation: As hair grows, there's no visible line between treated and untreated hair. Why Would Someone Want a Brazilian Blowout? People might choose this treatment for several reasons: 1. To manage difficult, frizzy, or unruly hair. 2. To reduce daily styling time and effort. 3. To achieve smoother, straighter hair without permanent alteration. 4. To improve overall hair condition and appearance. 5. To maintain easier-to-style hair in humid or tropical climates. How long does a Brazilian Blowout last? Brazilian Blowout typically lasts between 3-4 months on average, though individual experiences may vary. Here are the key points about the duration of a Brazilian Blowout: 1. Average duration: * 10-12 weeks (2.5-3 months) according to the official Brazilian Blowout website * 3-4 months according to most sources 2. Factors affecting longevity: * Hair type and texture * Maintenance routine * Environmental factors (humidity, sun exposure) * Hair porosity * Hair care products used * Frequency of washing 3. Duration for different hair types: * Curly hair: 2-3 months * Wavy hair: 3-4 months 4. How to extend the effects: * Use Brazilian Blowout sulfate-free and sodium chloride-free home care products * Avoid excessive heat styling 5. Signs it's wearing off: * Increased frizz * Loss of shine * Difficulty styling * Hair returning to natural texture, starting around the hairline It's important to note that while 3-4 months is the average, some people report effects lasting up to 6 months or even longer in some cases. Proper aftercare and maintenance can help maximize the longevity of the treatment. What aftercare steps are essential to maintain the Brazilian Blowout? Use the Brazilian Blowout Anti-Frizz Shampoo and conditioner for best results. Apply Brazilian Blowout Acai Deep Conditioning Masque regularly. Consider using the Brazilian Blowout Ionic Bonding Spray weekly to help extend the life of the treatment. Limit the use of hot styling tools, especially in the first few days after treatment. Use Brazilian Blowout Daily Smoothing Serum to protect hair from hot tools and environmental factors such as sun, chlorine, and salt. Schedule treatments every 10-12 weeks or as recommended by your stylist to maintain your frizz-free, smooth and shiny results. How is Brazilian Blowout performed and how long should the service take? The Brazilian Blowout process typically involves the following steps: 1. Cleansing: The hair is washed with a special ionic cleanser to remove impurities and prepare it for the treatment. 2. Application: The Brazilian Blowout solution is applied to the hair in sections, usually using a color applicator brush. Care is taken not to apply it directly to the scalp. 3. Blow-drying: The hair is blow-dried using tension to smooth it out. 4. Flat ironing: A flat iron is used to seal in the treatment. Each section is passed over 4-7 times, depending on the desired level of straightening. 5. Rinsing: The solution is rinsed from the hair (not shampooed out). 6. Final steps: An ionic bonding spray is applied, and the hair is given a final blow-dry. As for the duration of the service: * Most sources indicate that a Brazilian Blowout takes between 60-90 minutes to complete. * One source specifically mentions it can be done "in as little as 80 minutes." * The exact time can vary depending on hair length, thickness, and texture. It's worth noting that this is significantly faster than some other straightening treatments, which can take several hours. The relatively quick process is one of the advantages of the Brazilian Blowout treatment. How does a Brazilian Blowout compare to a traditional keratin treatment? 1. Active ingredients: * Brazilian Blowout uses amino acids, which are smaller molecules. * Keratin treatments use keratin protein. 2. Processing time: * Brazilian Blowout can be rinsed out the same day. * Keratin treatments need to crystallize for about 72 hours. 3. Post-treatment care: * Brazilian Blowout allows you to resume normal hair routine immediately. * Keratin treatments require 3 days of not washing, tying back, or clipping hair. 4. Customization: * Brazilian Blowout is more customizable for different hair textures and desired results. * Keratin treatments tend to straighten hair more uniformly. 5. Duration of results: * Brazilian Blowout typically lasts 2-3 months. * Keratin treatments can last 3-6 months. 6. Hair type suitability: * Brazilian Blowout works well for frizzy, curly, or wavy hair. * Keratin treatments are better for damaged, thick, or very frizzy hair. 7. Primary effects: * Brazilian Blowout focuses more on smoothing and frizz reduction. * Keratin treatments can help repair damaged hair in addition to smoothing. 8. Cost: * Brazilian Blowouts are generally less expensive than keratin treatments. Both treatments aim to reduce frizz, add shine, and make hair more manageable, but they differ in their application process, longevity, and specific effects on the hair. Availability: Brazilian Blowouts are typically available at professional hair salons. It's important to choose a salon with stylists certified in the Brazilian Blowout technique. Many high-end salons and some specialized hair smoothing treatment centers offer this service. Average Cost: The cost of a Brazilian Blowout can vary widely depending on factors such as location, salon reputation, hair length, and thickness: * Prices typically range from $200 to $500 per treatment. * In major metropolitan areas or high-end salons, prices can be higher. * Some salons may offer package deals or first-time client discounts. It's always best to consult with local salons for the most accurate pricing in your area.

Great video, truly informative! What is your opinion on the "express" brazilian blowout? I cannot decide between the brazilian blowout and the "express" version. I would appreciate your input.

Do you have any experience in hydrophobic hair vs hydrophilic hair? I have hair that’s fine but doesn’t absorbs water that much so called hydrophobic hair. Also I have curly coils. I had the treatment regularly from 2018-2023. But my hair broke of so bad at the end and I have stopped the treatment and coloring since then. I need to color my hair because they turning grey but I can’t take my hair in it’s natural state because of the amount of care time and money I have to put it 🥲 But Iam scared that my now recovered hair will not like it. Iam based in Germany so here are not many relatable stories from professionals. But my sister, my cousin and my friend had the same issue with breakage.

Can you tell me of a certified salon in the San Francisco bay area? A problem I have as a consumer is how do I know if they are following protocol or just doing their own thing. I remember going to a certified salon and after they finished with the flat iron, they never rinsed the product off my hair. I asked about it and was told that it would last longer if it’s not rinsed off. It was my 3rd Brazilian at that time so I knew that didn’t seem right. I called Brazilian Blowout as soon as I got home and was told that it should have been rinsed out so I did. I also feel weird questioning a salon professional while they are working on my hair. How would I know if they have changed the procedures recently or not. It’s a hard call on the customer’s part. Thank you for the great information. I am excited to get a Brazilian again to finally get my frizz under control .

Sorry to hear about your experience, but unfortunately this is happening more and more. Certification doesn't mean much if the stylist decides to take shortcuts. Brazilian Blowout home office should be able to direct you to a certified Salon in your area. Here's what you need to ask to see if they are following the protocol: Step 1 is cleansing the hair with Ionic Cleanser spray. Step 2 is towel dry and apply Step 2 solution to the hair with brush, section by section. After solution applied, the hair is blown dry with boar bristle brush while keeping dryer nozzle 3-4 inches away from hair. After 100% dry, they flat iron the hair taking small sections with several passes with 380-450 degree flat iron, depending on texture, thickness, and desired results. After fully flat ironed, Step 3 the hair is rinsed...not shampooed! The hair is towel dried and Step 3 Ionic Bonding Spray is applied and the blown dry again. No need to flat iron again. They also should recommend these home care products: Brazilian Blowout Anti-frizz shampoo and conditioner and Ionic Bonding Spray 3.4 Oz. Be sure to always shake the ionic bond spray well. That's the complete service! Hope this helps 😀

Thank you for the informative video! I have a question, is it ok to do another Brazilian blow out after 8 weeks? I am going on a vacation where it is super humid. My hair is naturally curly and frizzy. I blow dry it to get it straight. Thank you!

Your welcome! Sorry I somehow missed your question and didn't see it until now. Yes, it is safe to do another Brazilian Blowout as long as its been at least 2 weeks, so you are definitely safe to do another one after 8 weeks. Its important to use the proper aftercare products to keep your Brazilian Blowout looking great. The key products you should be using is: Anti-frizz Shampoo and Conditioner (or the Mask), and the Ionic Bonding spray weekly. Be sure to shake well the ionic bonding spray since it separates like oil and vinegar! Hope this helps, and thanks for watching! 😀
