Branch is a future superstar. He clearly knows the game extremely well, and his motor simply doesn't quit. Athleticism and talent go a long ways, but he has that 'it' factor.
Best overall talent wise is probably Gibbs but what Laporta has done at one of the most difficult positions to transition into the NFL is just unheard of. Branch is also amazing but, yeah man, it's a good time to be a Detroit Lions fan.
All the draft “experts” hated on the Lions after the draft. Turns out the Lions knew something they didn’t. All they did was get the best RB, TE, S and possibly LB in the draft. I’m sure Jalen Carter would have helped our D line, but the impact Gibbs and Laporta have had are far greater than a DT could have.
I love slow 40 times. That’s how Brad Holmes landed Amon-Ra and Branch where he did for the Lions. Keep runnin slow at the combine fellas-Holmes will find ya.
Ye Olde Lions never got much in the draft. I can recall years where Detroit ended up with no players from a draft after the rookie deals ended. Brad Holmes has turned that upsidedown. His 1st 3 drafts have been remarkable. 22 of 23 players are still with the Lions. Many of them are potential pro-bowl players. They rest are capable backups. This years draft produced 4 players that may end up as all time Lions greats. That is how you go from 3-13-1 to 11-4 in 2 seasons. Love to see your Lions breakdowns.
The crazy part about Brian Branch is that I don't even think he was on Brad Holmes' draft board based off their behind the scenes videos. He just so happen to be there and they realized it was too good a value for the pick. They passed on him 3 times.
They were interested in branch for the 34th pick, it was between laporta and branch and they picked laporta, so when they seen branch was still available, they moved up to pick him. It could’ve went completely different, but I’m glad they went the way they did so they got both.
Yeah, they wanted him. Day 2 they kept talking about him or Laporta. They went with the bigger need and assumed he would be gone. They had a 1st round grade on him.
Brian Branch does not miss any tackles, ever. Something as a lifelong Lions fan, just not used to seeing. It's awsome. Plus he has a great coach in probowl player Aaron Glen. You mentioned in the preseason, how it was almost embarrassingly unfair, the lions defensive backfield was with their free agent signings plus drafting Branch-and that was before Melafanwoo has come on recently. Breakdowns are diligent, observant & smart. Appreciate your time spent on out team, thank you
Funnily enough,I believe Branch missed less than 10 tackles in his college career which thankfully translated into his pro career so far. Even with average NFL athleticism,Branch is versatile in a lot of ways and you have Saban to thank for that.
@Johdoe8729'Spoon and Anderson would still be ahead of him too, but you're talking about the 2 highest drafted defensive players and the guy who would have been there too if not for the off the field issues.
No keep the branch content coming...he's amazing. Oh btw...branch was the pick in that draft video where they were celebrating. I see why...you're spot on in your analysis .All pro talent
The Lions have 2 players that will be in the Top 4 of voting for OROTY and Branch will be in the conversation for DROTY..Thats 3 runner ups for the rookie of the year voting and thats just fanfuckintastic. Last year Hutch and Houston were runners up for DROTY, this type of draft success is how elite teams are built. There is not another team in the league right now hitting at this rate..The Ravens and Seahawks can make a case but that case is for second place.
EVERYONE clowned on this year’s draft….. I was sitting back like, bravo 👏🏾 I wanted, Gibbs ALL DAY! Did want Witherspoon too. But we got Branch! I was floored! Like WHAT, we got, Brain Branch too! We drafted FOUR ROOKIES, that have a very significant impact on this team. Stop it…. We didn’t have a great draft, WE HAD A HELL OF A DRAFT!!!!!🎉🎊🍻 #OnePride✊🏾🦁💙 #InBradWeTrust💯
Keep the branch film studies coming, watching the break down makes me appreciate how much he does even more. Obviously I’m biased but the lions might just have the best young talent in the game. Go Lions, the kings of the north!!
Do you think they could put branch at outside corner opposite of Sutton. Put cj/gj at Nicole and keep iffy and Kirby at their safty spots respectively! Honest opinion please😊
Love your work, especially your fondness of Branch and other Lions. I dont know it you saw the interview where Branch was asked what position he plays he said, "I'm like a linebacker who can cover." I loved that answer
Amazing draft, couldn't agree more. I've never seen it's like even after 40 years of cheering for the team. Love your video's coach. Thank you for the coverage this year.
I personally believe that this draft class by Brad and staff, WILL be the one we talk about years down the road. B.B. is in my top 5 lions players of 2023 …. And he is a Rook. Dude is Ray Lewis mini , but faster!
No one will disagree with that in all likelihood, but l have a question for you: lf Sauce Gardner was in this class instead of Branch, who then would you say is the most talented? Obviously running backs and corners have a higher profile than a safety and we could discuss these things all day, but l think it will be very interesting to see what kind of awards are given to these guys after the season.
Really look forward to all of your videos, and thanks for the great Lions content! Branch plays about as fast as a defensive rookie as I can remember in Detroit, which is a clear sign of exceptional training and preparation. Really a gift that he found his way to the Lions in this year's draft class.
It's hard to have a favorite rookie, several so freakin' good. And then there is the new guys on the team (Monty's been great), and then also you've the maturing 2, 3, 4 year guys (Melifonwu just hitting his stride.). Dang!
I just want to say I absolutely love your content. I came across a twitter thread today where people were talking about how your videos are head and shoulders above people who get paid to do this and it made me happy to see you getting the recognition you deserve. Keep up the good work! Go Lions!! 🦁
