Is BUS VANNIN the BEST way to travel around the Isle of Man? (01/03/23). Whilst on holiday in the Isle of Man, we spent a day riding with Bus Vannin, checking out the buses and the beautiful island itself.

What a great little video, I am one of the Bus Vannin Bus drivers and I would thank you for highlighting our buses. As drivers, we take the views for granted, but it’s a great job and most passengers are a pleasure. Thank you :)

Plenty of different vintage railways. The coast route between Laxey and Ramsey is georgeous. Along the clifftops and through the countryside and woods.

I have to say that the Isle of Man is a very interesting small Island located between Northern Ireland, Scotland, England and Republic of Ireland. Plus Douglas as it’s the capital city looks more like a seaside town. Very peaceful as well.

I must introduce you to the Alexander Dennis MMC range because then you will not only experience a lovely sounding bus but one of the prettiest as well

This round stop button is actually the last thing I've touched in public before coming home. The Citaros are part of my everyday life at this point. 5:11 We also have those luggage racks on the airport route 33 between Fürth and Nuremberg Airport. On the buses that have "Follow me" signs on the back. I thought it was a special one-off, but apparently they exist in other places as well. 9:03 So funny how this crazy kid ruins your shot at the perfect time, just as you talk about it being a school service. Apart from the buses, seeing your girlfriend always gives me hope that even as a transwoman, I can have a relationship later in my life.

I’ve been to the Isle of Man twice now, however I haven’t really used the transport because I go for the Isle of Man TT! I shall have to go a time when it’s not for the TT and see the Island more and use the transport! Great video again G! Stay safe 😀👍

Hi G, I had a week on the Isle of Man a few years back and the best and cheapest deal is to buy an all Island rover ticket which you can use on the buses, the horse drawn trams, the Manx Electric Railway, and the Steam Railway. When you travel on the Manx Electric Railway take the one that takes you up the mount from where, on a clear day, you can see the 5 kingdoms of Mann. Also, revisit the Laxey Wheel where you can climb up to the top of the wheel and enjoy the views from up there. There was once an aquaduct that wheel pumped water along which used to feed the entire island. The comedian Norman Wisdom used to live on the Island. They have their own Parliament as well as they are self governing. Their Police are red hot as well. It's one of my favourite places to visit. Glad you enjoyed your whistlestop tour there. Enjoyed this loads, as IoM is my home! The buses are pretty good, you can get to all the main towns and villages, but the trains are just magnificent. The Electric railway is a unique experience, astonishing views especially between Laxey & Ramsey, and the Douglas Bay horse trams have charm, despite no longer running the full length of the prom as they used to. There’s a Premier Inn in Douglas too!

Great video G. I used to live on the island for a few years and worked for Bus Vannin while I was there. The B9TLs and older Citaros are great buses to drive but it's the stunning views I miss the most. The steam railway is a truly fantastic, unique experience. You'll love it

Superb trip around the Isle. I tend to avoid buses as I am 6ft 3ins and buses tend to be designed for the smaller person. Another place you have added to my list of places to visit when I retire, I can imagine it being an enjoyable place to walk around. Keep up the good work, Ray xx

Love this little video. Went to Isle of man couple of years ago. It was in the summer though. They have a great bus/train ticket which covers everything for days. So went on busses, electric railway and steam train to port Erin. In fact all the same places you visited with the addition of tram to top of the mountain from laxley. I would recommend returning in the summer as there are horse drawn trams on Douglas's well.

Brilliant video G I highly recommend the Isle of Man steam Railway trains and possibly here on the main land the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway then possibly if you can come down south its the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway they are steam railways but the two I've mentioned are 15 inch gauge lines highly recommend those too

Lovely video. Ronaldsway Airport has a railway station! Its a request stop behind the industrial estate on the opposite side of the road. Its been upgraded since I used it and now has a platform and access is now via a gate rather than a stile!

Great Video! The £2 single journey fare cap here on island ended as of the 31st of March, it was a 6 month trial, so the fares are back up again. It's a huge anniversary year for both the railways, so don't wait too long to come back. 150 years of the steam railway and 130 years of the electric trams! There's special events around July and September to celebrate it. Glad the buses could get you around in the meantime.

Went to the Isle of Man a couple of years ago. Such a beautiful place. I want to go again sometime because there was so much stuff I wanted to see that I just didn't get around to. I went to Castletown when I was there but I couldn't get anywhere near the beach because it was extremely windy that day and when I tried to get down to the beach the wind just kept blowing me back. 😂

Brilliant video G, it's a shame there wasn't any trains in this one lol but it's good to see you enjoyed yourself on the Isle of man, I'd love to go there someday as the views look spectacular. I deffo make sure to go when theres trains as that's the thing I always go out for. I see you've had to ride alot of Mercedes-Bens Citaro's, I've ridden these on the Skylink route to East Midlands Airport from Leicester (and Derby) and I've heard they were unreliable which led to them getting replaced with Enviro 200 MMC's lol.

Very different G, most enjoyable. Isle of Man is a lovely Island, reminds me of England in the 50s, when life was so much nicer. People cared for one another, no one was racing about unsure of where they were going and you felt safe. Not only that, Bill Haley started Rockin Around The Clock. Aaahhh nostalgia. My favourite part of the island is Port Erin. The train from Douglas to Port Erin is defiantly worth it. Also the tram to the top of Snafell, there's a cafe and toilets!

I only did the electric coastal tram when I was on that island plus foot too.Manx is the least known of the Gaelic languages and a bit in the shadow of Irish and Scottish Gaelic.
