Join John Sootheran as he explores the benefits of Camping & Caravanning Club membership and tries to answer the question 'Is club membership worth it?'. If you own a motorhome or a caravan and like to holiday in the UK, then you could likely reap many of the benefits that club membership has to offer, but what are they? We visited three campsites in the south of the UK, to try and find the answer.

If you don't mind paying for the pitch as well as per person per night on top of the yearly fee then fill your boots. The CCC and the CaMHC both do the same rip off charges, thats why I didn't renew my membership and stick to independant sites where you pay for the pitch per night

i use an indepent site and it costs £10 per adult each night on top of top end pitch fees.

I wouldn't call this rare video from PC a balanced view. In fact it gives no negatives which their are many.

Since motorhomes have joined the Club,it's almost impossible to book a full week anywhere as there's always a MH booking 2-3 days in the middle of a week. Also the Club has become even more cliquey (if that was possible!)We ended up paying for a magazine only, and that was full of overpriced "Gucci" kit,and holidays that were completely out of the range of your average vanner.

couple of christmas ago i stayed on a CAMC site and 80% of the fully serviced pitches were motorhomes. and i couldnt get a full week booked on the fully service pitches, and most were not fully hooked up. Don't get me wrong everyone has the right to pay for the pitch they want. but if you are paying but not using it as such i think thats wrong. They should have motorhome pitches.

We have been members of both at one qtime or another, and I really dont know why. We only use their sites at the start and end of the season, and every so called offer regarding insurance, equipment and the like are always more expensive. Not renewing membership next year.

You’ve totally failed to mention the biggest benefit of being a member of the Camping & Caravanning Club, access to all the District Association weekend meets and Temporary Holiday Sites (THS); camping off grid from as little as £10 per unit night! Much cheaper than the extortionate fees charged to camp on a club site. Members can find out details of all meets and THSs by accessing the Out & About app, or the paper supplement.

100% agree with this! If you've not tried DA camping, you're missing out 😊

The cost of the clubs now is obscene... a pitch for 2 kids and 2 adults on a busier weekend can peak at over £50!!! You can get hotels for not much more, it's obscene. And the amenities arent modern enough to justify it. Pre COVID it was £30-odd - classic price gouging.

I disagree, most hotels are £80 a night for a double. Also given how much electricity costs have gone up and how much caravans use. ( look at caravan vloggers recent video ) £50 for a weekend for 4 people seams fair to me. £6.25 each per night. What makes me laugh is you find people in a £40,000 caravan complaining about £30 for a nights stay.

Will not be renewing this year due to being overpriced for a family. If I am taking my unit why should you have to pay per person and the dog when we all in the same pitch?

As someone has already mentioned, the district associations (DA) are the biggest cost saver, and you are not even tied down to visiting one da's arranged holiday areas

So not really an 'Is it worth it' video, more an advert for the 3C's.

This is rubbish . Site fees have gone right up average site is around £6 more than a private site and it costs you £53 for the privilege of paying more for your campsites .we certainly won't be rejoining
