Is Canada's Support for Ukraine Sufficient?

More than two years into the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, many people question: Is Ukraine still a priority? Does what happens in "a far-away land, distant from our shores" really matter? Does what happens in Ukraine really have any bearing on our lives?
Canadian Member of Parliament Yvan Baker is emphatic that not only does Ukraine matter, but that we should be doing more than ever to support it in fighting against Russian aggression while also providing humanitarian support, including helping to locate Ukraine's stolen children.
Canada, though less mentioned in the press, has done tremendous work to support Ukraine. However, a recent tide of right-wing populism, analogous to America's MAGA, is seeking to end Canada's support for Ukraine. The fight to support Ukraine is exacerbated by ongoing efforts, by Moscow, to disinform Canadians as to what is transpiring in Canada and abroad. Despite things looking rough, Baker assures that most Canadians support Ukraine and see past the lies in which Moscow deals.
Aside from being a Member of Parliament from the Riding of Etobicoke, Yvan Baker "Chairs the Canada-Ukraine Parliamentary Friendship Group and an executive member of the Canadian NATO Parliamentary Association," according to his parliamentary website.

As a Canadian, I am downright ashamed of Canada's lack of help to Ukraine. Lots of talk and boasting of helping but hardly any real aid. Talk is cheap. Actions speak louder than words. Canadian politicians can yell all they want about how much they support Ukraine but the facts are there for everyone to see. Shameful and pathetic!! By the way, has Canada officially apologised and provided compensation for throwing Ukrainians into concentration camps during World War I, while confiscating all of their belongings?

Your introduction of an egregious logical error, and consequent attempt to impose bias, TODAY, THIS moment, seems extremely Toxic in intent. For others, , merely look up the NUMEROUS Red Herring Strategies intended to induce discord. I support Ukraine 100%. I will be the first to demonstrate and go to Ottawa if Canada does not support Ukraine. Canada, like most Western countries, no longer believed in a conventional, strong and well-armed army. We believed that the fall of the USSR put an end to the risk of war with Russia. Big mistake that we are paying for now. Because of one man, Putin, the rearmament and strengthening of our armies will cost hundreds of billions.

The Conservatives have shown their clear support for Ukraine 🇺🇦. It was Conservatives that made the free trade agreement with Ukraine 🇺🇦 in the first place. Poilievre and the Conservatives encouraged Trudeau NOT to send the gas turbines to Russia that helped Putler fund the "SMO." Poilievre encouraged Trudeau to send armaments to Ukraine and get the lead out regarding the delay in sending the Patriot missile system promised a yrear ago as well as a host of other weapons. By acting in such a partisan fashion, when Baker knows the Conservatives support Ukraine 🇺🇦, he is hurting the cause. Shame on the Liberal Party of Canada. They are not fooling informed Canadians. You have to understand the white supremacy groups in North America have always been against government in general and these groups date back quite a while. Add in financial support from foreign adversaries and you have a natural alliance with common goals. Questions should be how can we deal with the radical behavior which are clearly not in national security interest?

And don't forget that Putin and his NAZIonalist clique that's ruling Russia today, gives strong and steadfast support in all different forms. Mainly through the very skillful right wing propaganda to all different white supremacy and the NAZIonalist groups, parties and individuals all around the Western Europe, North America and the world. Putin decided to change Russia into the 'new', but actually old, the neo-NAZIonalist, fascist leader and center in the world around among the nations. He wants to make Russia into an example for the future world to follow. After his victory in the Ukraine that he has to achieve in order to continuously stay in power. His propaganda machine is working very well by spinning around the world his version of the Russian and European history. Specially that of the Eastern European history. I.e. he's claiming that it was Poland who caused the 2ndWW by refusing to negotiate with Hitler about giving up the Danzing (Gdansk) Corridor!.. And all kind of nonsense like this, that only he and his followers believe in. With all kind of grotesque historical facts that his twisted, delusional mind produces continuously and is motivated by his own lies that he believes in (just like his buddy Trump). But unfortunately half of the world believes in his version of the Europe's (and the world) History. And the history of events in the Ukraine, who was, and still is fighting for its freedom and independence from Russia for over last 100th years! Slava Ukraina! 🔱🙏🏼🇺🇦

A big country run by a dictator has been misled to believe that they are in title to "take back" something that does not belong to them. Several agreements have been signed over the years cleay stating Ukraine is borders and independency, also by Putin himself, but as usual he does not respect anything said or written and he has a plan that he has prepared since 2003. His plan is known, but still lots of politicians give him "a chance". Today he asked for Ceasefire. He has been cornered and needs time to re-arrange. I sincerely hope Ukraine and all it's allies sees through his trick and ignore his requests. All countries need to help Ukraine financially so Russia must withdraw totally. If Putin loses his crazy war, not only Ukraine will benefit. We all will and hopefully all the millions of Russians that are against both the war and Putin's regime might get a better future, as well. My understanding is that Canada has a large population of those with backgrounds of ancestry from Ukrainian. That is to say, there are many people who have come from Ukraine in previous decades who now live in Canada. I write short stories. I am no Hemingway. I wrote a story about a Canadian I had met in Kyiv in May of 2022. He was from a logger from Vancouver. He was an Iraq war veteran and he went to Ukraine to fight russians. It is the only story I have been able to narrate on my RU-vid channel. My trip to Poland to see the refugees in Przemysl, and to Ukraine in May of June of 2022, was emotionally difficult. It really impacted me. I have since returned in December of 2022 to purchase and get delivered generators and other items I purchase to soldiers and civilians, and then again in July of 2023 and then again in January of 2024. I have booked my flight to Poland and then the train again in June of this year through July.

1. Who ARE those in Parliament so rudely and obstructionally speaking loudly while the MP is addressing the body? Perhaps some accommodation for disruptors can be made through helping those individuals outside the room so vital to measured conference and civil debate, so that they can compete in the open air in their loudness competition, a "discipline" ENTIRELY separate from moral, intellectual, civil debate or negotiation. 2. when one steps back from rhetoric anywhere and all over the human world, one sees what is occurring , which is illustrated by what is occurring in Ukraine, There appear to be two cognitive types of humans = a) Those who deny the validity of other life and lives, seeking to acquire, invade by force, and impose hierarchical domination as "masters" over "enslaved.". The sole value of others, other life, to them appears to be as unthinking servant to the aggressive. Any present Ukraine map shows the infectious invasion and necrosis of such exploitative minds. b) Those who appear to have significant regard for the validity of others' lives, a corollary of respect for life itself. In biology descriptions of life forms are neutral in salience/arousal, if illuminating. Valence i(positive/negative, toxic/nutritive) is only attached by individuals. The biotic universe does reflect the nature of the physical - individuation constantly occurs, no matter the aggregative scale. Biological individuals tend to sample their environment, traveling toward or reproducing toward nutritive surrounds and away from conditions tpxic to them. Some adaptation also occur. Tpxic environments induce less offspring care and greater proliferation, shorter functional lifespan, and greater active competitiveness, with increased destructive effects. Since exploitation unconstrained ALWAYS results in habitat destruction, nature tends to adapt by severely limiting species, creating an active resilient harmony in any ecosystem. Here the illustration diverges from what that odd manipulative species, human primates, do. Our brains are so focused upon ourselves socially, that unless inhabiting a diverse community of life, ourselves being a SMALL, relatively insignificant part, and therefore eagerly affiliative toward others of our kind, we disregard both their Equal validity, and their very lives. We find parallel analogue inthe brutal treatment, arrogation, torture, violent attack, and unimpeded attempt to destroy, rather than affiliate or create richly diverse harmony with ourselves being that relatively miniscule parts versus the tolerant, welcoming, inclusive. Acquiescence does mean absorption by the unremittingly exploitative. Illusory "deities" have no part in behaviors, other than as deluded closure of minds already dissociated from the environment, from reality.

However for at least the last decade Canada has borrowed over 700 billion dollars. It runs a huge annual deficit, It raises taxes and expects inflation. It does not have a strong capable military. It is a poor country unable to pay its present bills, it cannot house its people, or control its own borders. Ukraine is in need.
