Did you mean to start the MCU movies with this one? It's the first in timeline order, but I think watching in film release order is the way to go if it's your first time through. It makes the post-credit scenes much better too. Yeah, keep watching after the credits roll in these Marvel movies.

From my understanding the serum increased his intelligence as well. He was already able to think through a problem but it became amplified. His reflexes and strength combined with the brains makes him the super soldier he is.

In answer to your comments/questions about German scientists coming to America before or after World War 2, the answer is actually both. Before the war, the Schmazis made it very hard for a lot of Jewish German scientists to remain in Germany, and a significant number of them ended up in the USA one way or another. Albert Einstein was the most famous example before the war, but other Jewish German scientists and engineers wound up working in various ways for the Manhattan Project to build the atomic bombs. Near the end of the war, there was a much more organized and deliberate program to bring German scientists and engineers to the USA called "Operation Paperclip"...at first to assist with deciphering all the ways in which German tech had advanced more than the Allies. Later, especially after the USSR joined the nuke club in 1949, the German scientists began working on US military projects to keep America ahead in the Cold War...the most famous of the post war Germans was Werner von Braun, who was instrumental in getting the US to the moon first. 🖖✌

It's been a year so there's no reason for anyone to read this, but FWIW : Captain America is described as "Peak Human", which isn't exactly the same as "Super Human". Exactly what that means seems to vary from story to story, but my take is that he's as strong, fast, durable, etc. as a human being can possibly be - which no actual human ever is. He also has an accelerated metabolism. Therefore he can't do anything which a normal human couldn't do but he does almost everything better than a normal human would. What sets him apart isn't his power, it's his character. As we see in this film, even before the process he was patriotic. determined, smart, brave and self-sacrificing. Tony Stark and Thor had to learn how to act like heroes, but Steve already was one - he just didn't have the power to go with it. The serum didn't give him anything, it just "amplified" whatever was already there.

To be sure, Alexander the Great did create a large empire, and his impact on our history and culture is very hard to quantify...but I do not believe you can place his empire at the top of any of the "largest empires" lists that historians have compiled. At the time of Alexander's death in 323BCE, his empire encompassed about 5.2 million square kilometers and contained about 15 percent of the entire population of the planet...while for example the Mongol Empire at its greatest extent around 1300CE covered around 24 million square kilometers and about 31 percent of the entire population of Earth. 🖖✌
@Lil_Paulie
@Lil_Paulie 2 года назад
The Mongol Empire is one of the largest I'm aware of. But what about the British Empire? With around 25% of the Earth's population and 35 million square kilometers of land mass, that would make them bigger in land mass, but not percentage of the planets population. Although I would imagine they ruled over MANY more people due to the different periods of time, as the British Empire was at its height in 1920. So I think it would be fair to say the British Empire was the biggest in recorded history.
@iKvetch558
@iKvetch558 2 года назад
@@Lil_Paulie I used the Mongol Empire just because it is a land empire and thus more analogous to Alexander's empire. Plus, the British had such huge advantages in technology over many of the lands they controlled, it seems as if the Mongols' achievement is slightly more impressive. There is also the matter that the Mongol Empire was, like Alexander's very short lived, but with impacts that have echoed outward in history. And after all...everyone names the British Empire so often, I figured I would use some other empire as my example. ✌😁

Just tuning into your reactions. Fun to see someone that hasn't seen them before. The biggest power that Captain America has is not an obvious one, he has an unnatural charisma that that allows him to inspire everyone around him. He could be running the world if he really wanted to be. That was why it was so important for him to be humble.

Explaining Cap's superpowers is usually a bit tricky. Essentially? He has the maximum physical potential of a human being, he is as strong and tough as human can be, and he requires minimal training to maintain that state, though he still needs to train himself in skills like marksmanship, etc. In terms of the role he fulfils in Marvel, his greatest strength is never his abilities, but his charisma and leadership alone. As a character it makes sense, he is the living embodiment of "heart and hard work always beats talent", a rejection of the very idea of nazi ubermensch.

@@MajorReacts Hey...if you want to understand the Spiderman movies with Tom Holland, don't forget to watch the 3 Toby McGuire Spidermans and the 2 Andrew Garfield ones too. I am not sure if you need to watch the Spiderverse movie to appreciate the Holland Spidermans, but perhaps somebody else can answer that question. I think you probably just want to watch the other Spiderman movies sometime before you watch the 3rd Tom Holland Spiderman, I don't think it is important for anytime before then...so definitely start with the rest of the MCU movies first. It sounds like you only need to fill in the Garfield Spidermans...but maybe you rewatch the McGuires at some point too...especially if you have not seen them in a long long time? 😁😁 Also, it is not huge deal, but the end credits scenes will not necessarily make sense if you do not watch the MCU movies in the order they were released. If you want to watch the movies in the chronological order, it is entirely up to you and I will enjoy them right along with you...but if you ask me, the best way to watch the MCU movies for the first time through is to see them in release order. 🖖✌😁

@@MajorReacts Oh...and sorry for commenting too much on this one, but they all feed the algorithm? Not that it is really important at all, but Cap was not in a coma for all that time...they never did find him until almost 70 years after the crash. He was really frozen in the ice for all that time. Like I said, not important at all, except that it is a cool little thing about Captain America in this version of the story. America abilities is to be a theoretical perfect human in strength, speed, senses, healing, intelligence, etc. though others who are not jacked on the serum may be superior in some aspect (e.g., cap is an uneducated genius who can memorize a map of Hydra bases at a glance, but Tony Stark who would surpass Cap in creative scientific projects).

The reason Marvel did this was because Cap (being a WWII morale booster & pro-Allied propaganda tool) was no longer relevant after WWII ended and they wanted to bring Cap into our modern society (considering he's been a major comic book franchise cash cow to Marvel for decades).
