00:00 Carly Gregg Day 4 Recap 04:46 Biggest Moments from Day 4 16:31 Expert Analysis #CourtTV What do YOU think? Catch up on MS v. #CarlyGregg: www.courttv.com/tag/carly-gregg/?
An insane person would NOT remember the cameras. They would walk around the house with the gun exposed. They would kill and stay put. We’ve seen it too many times. They’re insane and impulsive. This girl planned this out that day. She’s smart, methodical, conniving and deeply disturbed- NOT insane.
You ask whether she was LEGALLY INSANE when she fired the gun? Look at the video - lurking in house, tracking mom and shooting in face 3X, brags to friend, uses mom's phone to lure the step father home, laying in wait for the step father, ambushes stepfather shooting him, runs in attempt to flee THAT IS NOT INSANE. That is CALCULATED. THE question should be is she LEGALLY INSANE NOW - she is calculating playing school girl but reality is she is a KILLER.
After she shot her mother she sang to her dogs. That’s mental illness. She called her friend to look at the body. That’s mental illness. She’s not normal.
I don’t understand the title of this video. If she was determined to be legally insane, she wouldn’t be on trial right now, right? Wasn’t Lori Vallow not competent to stand trial and she was treated and medicated until competent enough to stand trial.
@@JenniAndJonnyDoCrimesI don't think you understand the words you are using and hearing and it's confusing you. Any one can have mental illness and mental health issues. Those don't excuse you of a crime. Yes in court there is a legal standard of insanity. It means you don't know right from wrong in the moment. That's the standard. That doesn't mean that she wasn't having mental issues, just that she wasn't legally insane. Legally insane is the only excuse a court will accept. Using your standard, no crimes would ever been charged as no one who was mentally completely stable would ever commit any crime. Every crime comes with a mental breakdown, at least to the point of not caring about punishment. Rational well functioning people don't harm others.
No. She is not insane. Mentally ill? Yes. Doesn't excuse her from murdering her mother. If anyone is insane, it's her stepfather and arguably, the grandparents. She knew what she was doing.
Why is that woman playing with her hair like she some kinda princess, she should not have no respect at all from anybody. That's a murderer, not a princess.
She was calm and alert enough to put the gun behind her back on the counter and still managed to text without missing a beat. No shaking hands, no panic..nothing!
What 15 yr old uses or knows the word "extotensial"? I didn't and have never used that word. I have two college degrees and was on the deans list for high grades.
@@Suzie-he9niIkr? 😂😂Do you mean existential?Guess spelling wasn't your strong suit getting your degrees and being on Dean's list? Or your phone really misunderstood you and used a non-existent word. You have to laugh at this, (my comment, not this murder case). The kid is smart but diabolical for certain, and thinks she'll be able to fool jury into thinking she's legally insane. Ugh.
@@Suzie-he9ni in reality, they may never be able to except what she did. But that should only be viewed from an empathetic perspective. They are in denial because to them… that’s their little girl:(
I agree. A mentally unstable angry teen. I don't think she was insane tho. I think she knew what she was doing but forgot life isn't a movie and this isn't short lived, it's a life sentence.
@@joeking433a rational human being would never murder someone because, unless you have parents that teach you morals (what is right and what is wrong), a child would know murdering someone is wrong. Once a child has grown a bit and has a better understanding of the law, then they learn that murdering someone will lead to prison and in some cases, they may end up executed. I’ve been punished before growing up and never in my mind did I ever thought about murdering my parents. Unfortunate that this girl did not get a grip on herself and just deal with whatever punishment her mom would have given her. No phone without a month sure beats the hell out of prison for life.
No way - saw that video. She did what she did calmly and methodically and it shocks me how supportive family is - but they already feel shocked and shattered. I would not back her up. She knew what she was doing
@@JenniAndJonnyDoCrimesdid she know right from wrong at the time of the crime.. actions speak volumes (video) and shows she did.. why is she hiding the gun, checking to make sure it isn't knocked off when dog goes behind stool, sending text messages from her mother's phone callous and calculated... Obviously she has mental issues to do what she did, but doesn't diminish her from the crime and guilt..
I also noticed in the video that after Carly placed the gun down behind her, while sitting on the kitchen stool, one of the dogs walked behind her and she checks on the gun and makes sure that the dog didn't bother the gun or that the gun didn't fall off the stool. She was in her right mind while doing evil.
I really don't think she was insane at the time of the crime. She has issues, for sure. Legally insane? Absolutely not. I've seen legally insane. It looked nothing like Carly Gregg. She's very scary. Very intelligent and not quite right in the head.
She killed her mother in cold blood. The reason she acted the way she did with her stepfather was because her first shot crazed him, and he was able to grab the gun, stopping her from killing him. She was freaking out because she didn't kill him, and she knew she couldn't cover up her actions.
The step dad is pretty pathetic to take her side, it smells fishy to me! those dogs are terrified of her especially the white golden. She looks like a creepy little doll,.
When she first shot her mom, she completely ignored the dogs. Then, when the one dog tried to get in the room where her mother is, she screams at them and tells them to stay away. It isn’t until the end of what we see in the video that she actually says “it’s ok” to them. All 3 of those behaviors show guilt and awareness. It’s also really creepy how she looks at people on the stand. She’s a psychopath.
During the entire trial, this “teenager” sits there barely batting an eyelid and showing no emotion. She even puts her chin in her hand like she is observing something really interesting. I wonder if the jury is taking all this in. She’s a full blown psychopath, but what do I know?
🚩 Surveillance cameras in the kitchen?! The parents must have known she was not well, not trusted, but she was calculated and diabolical - her poor mother
Carly reminds me of my older sister. She always wanted her image to be a "sweet person" to everyone around her. She had the nickname "sunshine" at work, except she would say horrible things about her coworkers, neighbors, family members and strangers behind their backs. Yet she wouldn't let it go that she wasn't a "sweet person". None of those people would believe the truth about her if I told them, they would think I was lying. She hid it so well. I can see why Carly's family refuses to see the truth about her, she put on a great performance of being a "sweet person".
Watching the defence attorney playing with the defendant's hair while she sat there smiling contentedly after watching her cold bloodedly murder her own murder made me sick to my stomach.
I love how the defense asks the Psychologist how many children he has evaluated in situations like this. Um... None, because (thankfully) if the child is sane or mentally insane, this doesn't happen often!
She's not insane, she's a born psychopath! Why is the stepfather supporting her?! The poor mother, you would think the husband would honor her memory and rebuke her killer but here he is supporting the demonic perpetrator.
Trying to dodge a murder case with an insanity plea is always their go to… She plotted, planned, and bragged about it. She knew and was well aware of everything.
There’s more to this with her step dad.. 3?yrs married and he’s smiling at her in court.. wrong, wrong, wrong for him to be behaving this way, as someone who has lost his spouse he should be heartbroken.. something else is happening here 😮.. Ashley needs justice!
:33 She had a presence of mind to hide the gun behind her back both before she shot her mom and then again after as she goes into the kitchen and sits on the stool. She made sure the home surveillance camera didn't show her with the gun. Then she ran after shooting the step dad. Both show she knew what she was doing was wrong and she didn't want any evidence to prove she'd done it. Nope, not insane, just another evil kid.
Science/Medicine doesn’t recognize Evil. They always want to blame something other than true Evil exists in this world. A book from the 70’s by Dr Scott Peck was the first time I read of this…he was chastised by his colleagues…it’s called “People of the Lie”. Includes his personal case studies of some of his patients. A great read!
Her mother found out she was on drugs . Carly did not want her mother to punish her and keep her off drugs. She seemed so calculated. The only other possibility is the drugs made her paranoid. Except for the cutting ,most teenagers go through very similar behaviour but never ever kill.
She knew exactly what she was doing. She planned it methodically. The Lexapro was explained by the other dr. Her dosage was half of the beginning dose and it would take about 2 weeks of meds to be in her system. She was on it three days i think.
30 years ago I rotated through psychiatric training. I was called to see one of the most disturbed patients ever - and she was a dead-ringer for Carly. Have to wonder if she has some sort of syndrome?
@@GoSheepie 🤔 short, endomorphic, cherubic face, blunt bangs, square bob, flat presentation; kind of a cute innocent facade that almost makes one want to oat them on the head. It’s strange that 2 such similar appearing adolescent girls should both be so deeply disturbed
@@TimothyWiebe-v2y , She’s definitely mentally ill. No normal person does what she did to her mother and then sings to her dogs and then call a friend to look at her mother.
The defense attorney is trying to get a not guilty verdict by reason of insanity. She's a psychopath. A cold blooded killer who should never be free in society
People often blame the antidepressants, but often those with mental health disorders are already bent a certain way and she clearly wasn’t balanced on them yet. I would agree though that if she had been switched on meds it’s possible it didn't help esp if a dr doesn't know what he was doing. I've seen in person a close, young loved one who went "crazy" from an antidepressant switch done unsafely. Thankfully they didn't hurt another person but did try to hurt themselves.
Yes they do, but that doesn’t mean every teen on an SSRI has suicidal ideation or acts like Carly. This was not meds related. She’s a manipulator and wanted to do what she wanted. Her Mom got in her way.
I am so sick of the mental health or trauma from childhood card being played when their caught for taking someones life. It is over played by people like her and there are a lot of them. This is exactly why people who really do have these mental heath issue are dismissed and judged and its not ok! These murders need to take responsibility for their actions and stop playing the victim..Shame on the defense team for being allowed to use mental heath as a defense when they clearly know its all crap.
I think mental health can help maybe soften it from first degree to second degree for example, but she also took a life and broke the law and needs to be held accountable.
She and her mother got into an argument on the drive home. The spoiled, narcissistic little princess got ticked off about it & decided to kill her mother. That's it, period.
There are thousands of kids out there that fit that description and who fight with their parents, but she’s the only one blowing her Mother’s brains out. Plus, she had no prior history of violence or cruelty. So, I don’t think this case is as cut and dry as it appears to be.
The defence expert withess saying she didn't know right from wrong when she put the camera in the fridge, shot her mother, hid the gun was just laughable
She was 14 and being medicated for so many different things. Parents denied or ignored problematic situations. This is a tragic story…yet again. We are seeing our children making horrific decisions. We need to figure out why.
I’m wondering if SSRI meds are behind these shootings. Ppl don’t want to hear that but I want to know what all these kids had in common aside from a loaded gun
@@m.c.5459 She was on the SSRI Zoloft (the drug Sertraline) for a few months, and a week before the murder, they changed her to the SSRI Lexapro apparently without tapering her off Zoloft (Lexapro is the market name for the drug, Escitalopram). In the jail, they changed her medication to 20 mg of Abilify (the drug Aripiprazole, an antipsychotic used to treat psychosis / hearing voices) and citalopram (which is a similar SSRI to Escitalopram, but is a racemic mixture i.e. contains both enantiomers of the drug, S- and L- versions, whereas Escitalopram is only the S- version). You'll have to look up what stereoisomers means, to understand what S- and L- means, it's like trying to explain the rules of Cricket. Basically, it was a bad idea to put her on a similar drug to the one that might have caused her psychosis / dissociation to get worse.
The Stepfather sitting up in there courtroom like he's so in love. He look so silly in the face. IG she had a chance. She probably finish yje job. She is the beginning of a psychopath
No to me its obvious she wanted out of her mother's grip Carly thinks she's the smartest one in the room. I have worked in healthcare since the 80's and had to do a medical test on people with mental disorders. She's none of that. Her defense counsel is rubbish she will be appealing. They dress her like a little girl we have not seen the real her. Her stepfather has no idea who she is.
She got confronted about all her hidden actions and she didn't like it. The video is all I needed to see. The Prosecutor's psychiatrist did a good job for them.
She knew right from wrong..I think she was one spoilt child not enough NOs ..not mentally unstable..she knew exactly what she was doing..now she should go to jail
They say she had been in trouble for taking a knife to school. What in the hell were her parents thinking keeping a firearm under the mattress?! It's stupid to have firearms in the house with teenagers
