You are SO right about content creators vs general playerbase having different priorities. The content creators want props and tools to make stuff look pretty, even when it has zero effect in the gameplay. While the general playerbase tends to focus on gameplay, and wants things that enhance how the game responds to what you are doing.
lol I’ve just made the exact same point… Playable to them is crying about not having mods to make their games marketable on RU-vid… Playable to everyone else is… can my mid-high range PC run this on mid settings without going on fire and are the major bugs fixed… Why do the content creators not realise no one is interested in watching content for games they cannot play… I’m so angry with the company and especially that it was content creators that said we can be the voice and managed to get mods fixed before game breaking bugs.
Seriously, thanks for pointing out that Colossal Order directly addressed the complaints people had with the game in their apology statement. That's far, FAR better than the generic copypasta statements that AAA developers would give, and lends credence to them genuinely wanting to turn the game around. I do remember hearing a story once about Paradox using the game as a buffer to appease shareholders after another game bombed, as they knew it would be an automatic hit, so I would not be surprised at all if it eventually came out that Paradox released the game against Colossal Order's wishes.
I think that was the problem, there was so much hype and hope that cities 2 would build and be greater than cities 1 but it just isn’t. It was rushed and should have just stayed longer in development 🤷🏻♀️
my biggest problem is the demand system. i've had skyscrapers become abandoned MID CONSTRUCTION because after i zone them the demand plummets. So im forced to build ghettos and not cities.
that may just be about your olay style. the game is doing what needs to be done in that case. when you level up more dont you worry the game will want so much high density. but for high density demand they do have to be richer and you need to play carefully otherwise you will end up with a mid density and low density housing city with 200k people that is losing money
Isn't the company behind this game also behind one of the life sims that have been majorly hyped up lately? If this game is a lesson in how their life sim will turn out... I'm not sure I'm so hyped anymore.
It's the same publisher, but Colossal Order (devs of CS2) are independently owned and don't have shareholders. Despite that, this game still ends up feeling like it was rushed to appease shareholders.
I hope this Cities II re-review isn't the last. I'd definitely love to see you re-reviewing it when the game is fixed. I'm definitely interested in more Cities content when you decide it's ok to make them. And I don't need you to always be about Sims 4 or even life sims all the time. Cities Skylines is fun, and I hope it gets fixed fast. (Obviously don't force yourself to make them if the game is still not enjoyable. It's still unfinished right now.)
I think it's best to wait 1 - 2 years after the release date. After the different bugs and the implementation of future mods, I estimate that time is the maximum for the game to be 100% and optimized. Of course, it could be sooner.

CS2 the biggest disappointment besides Starfield in 2023. And it still is crap. As long as the farmland and mines cause massive eye cancer and as long as the simulation itself is not transparent and working and as long as there is no mod support for buildings I will definetly not buy or play this piece of garbage
At least we knew starfield would suck. Everything BGS had been doing for years leading up signaled it would just be the dying breath of goodwill from Skyrim. CS2 becoming a glitchy, unoptimized, surface level game sold as the most deep sim they could come up with feels like betrayal lol
@@-ygb-voltage6244 It's not "new" when there are already DLCs get released. And "new" is something als than "unfinished." We're not talking about a few bugs but about a pre-alpha game.
@joelbyjack why not? i havent played starfield, but for what it promised, it seems okay now. Cs2 is miles away of what ir promised. Not to mention the unplayable performance on bigger cities- its quite literally unplayable as nothing happens in the simulation (due to it being so slow)
When I saw the happenings with CSL2, it reminded me of Sims4. Rushing to release new one, but poor working, annoying gameplayer because of that. CSL1 wasn't like that. We loved all DLC, and we didn't have problem with CSL1 for playing. We were still enjoying it. They really didn't have to release CSL2 this early.
Not really in a rushed to buy it yet...so I don't mind waiting. Still, I have to admit that it made me go back to my childhood and play SimCity 4 for a while. Great time.
It was on sale for just 10% off right now, and I just bought it for 45 bucks like an idiot. Probably going to regret it because I really didn't want to buy it, but just kind of had to.

@@Gigi-xr3qs well... CS1 is not that realistic either tho. CS2 simulation is more "realistic" than CS1 but it's too buggy. Like mail stuck on the hub, people and vehicle teleport to their destination if they're stuck, buggy tax revenue (sometime it's so profitable but sometimes you lost so much money) and many other bugs that haven't been solved by dev. I kinda don't care about lack of assets since the core simulation still broken, like what's the point of lots of assets but the simulation is trash. Now I don't even want to play both that game. After playing CS2, I can't play CS1 without some feature that only available on CS2 but the simulation is too broken in CS2 and ....I never touch it again ...
@@iqbals5684 I was comparing it more to a real city builder- like Sim City 4. Even "New City" had a more realistic city model and it was made by one guy.
I don't get why they didn't just take CS1 and add the popular mods people use, then up the graphics...BOOM - CS2. Enjoy! Weird to hear a game make a sequel that is worse than the original in like 90% of the things people liked about the first one, lol. They were like, "People want nicer looking roads that are easier to make and realistic cities, but lets ruin everything else!"
Regarding CO going back to CS1, they’d better not touch it. Major modders have retired or moved on by now, so if the devs simply even patch CS1, it will kill thousands of players’ cities.
So much potential. In just few hours I recognised what QOL UI was needed, took a few mins to find the mods for it made by modders. One of which is InfoLoom, persistent UI to show exact stats you need about building capacity, usage, detailed demands etc.

@@sebastianhaugland5611 The economy is largely fixed, traffic is now something that can actually be a challenge, your city responds a lot better to the changes you make and the early game can be really difficult. And a detail uptate have also come out witch gives us a lot more service buildings, including train and metro stations, as well as giving us the ability to edit surfaces.
i recently found out you can get almost 20 more fps by closing water animation in the dev tools. even more suprising is nothing changes visually when you make it zero. the sad thing is when time passes it returns to 1x speed and fps drops again. please try this and you will get the idea. i am trying to find a solution to this problem help me
At least one good thing came out of the CS2 fiasco for me ... I really didn't want to go back to CS1 so I picked up Sims 4 instead. That's how I found your channel and am enjoying the heck out of your content. 😂
I downloaded mods on Cities 2 that unlock a load of assets as well done to extend the parks' sining decals and the anarchy mods as well I just took biffas list of mods off of one of his videos it's improved it so much I can now put in key walls retaining walls and barriers anywhere. It's not 100% but has been able to merge buildings together, extending out the lots and using some of the ingamr assets as ploperble, put the fun back into the game
you can build pedestrian and roadway quays already, but the process is VERY finnicky. I recomment using the Extended Road Upgrade mod to instantly upgrade a street section into having a quay/retaining wall or be a bridge or tunnel. That being said, they also hinted at wanting to add actual quay walls with the Bridges and Ports DLC coming next year
The amount of ads in this video was almost as annoying as the current state of the game. I use two downloaded cities to test the game when a patch or update is posted. Lets just say I'll never pre purchase anything from C.O. again, even if their's a reach around.
My issue with this game is terrain forming. Especially water. When I try to do anything with the water my terrain glitches like crazy. In their trailer they say build anything, build home. How can I build my home if I cant do anything with the water? Thats just silly. Hopefully this has been fixed as I have not played in a while.
As a Finn 🇫🇮, I don't know if I should feel proud of that game. I haven't given it a go yet (it's never on sale when I remember it). If I'm not mistaken, it's developed near the city I come from.🤔
It just goes to show how much of a massive rushed flop CS2 is when people who have built their channels on playing Cities skylines are turning to doing other content because its so broken and non existent content. RU-vidrs like Biffa and city planner plays have all gone back to cities 1 because you just cant make the content in cities 2 because they were all basically making the same videos due to the lack of content. I loved cities 1 and all the british mods/assets and put many hours in. The fact they left out some of the must have mods from cities 1 was a massive turn off for me and the fact there is really no in game content. I played cities 2 when it came out for 30 mins and refunded it straight away. It has really put me off and i definitely wont be going back to it.
for the performance part i didn't really think you gave it a fair shot , you should test performance on a city with big population but from your video you have a very small population
Hey guys, I hope it's the right place to ask. So I'm contemplating between buying CS1 or CS2. I am a casual builder with some experience in SimCity, but I've wanted to try something new for years now. My idea was to buy CS1, but as the years went by, CS2 was released (I don't have much free time) and I see all the criticism surrounding it. So as a kind of beginner, who won't spend 10 hours daily on the game, but rather just play it casually sometimes, which game would you recommend?

I bought the first game the day it was released and played it several thousand hours by now. I was hyped about the new one (until it came out) and now i am glad that i couldnt afford a new PC 😂
IMO the problem has nothing to do with the shareholders. It has to do with PManagers and crappy developers that have zero habit of testing what they're developing. If they had tried the game in a real environment they had immediately noticed that you need an HPC to play anything other than a tiny village.
I tried it again yesterday, and the game is still unplayable. I have an RX570, it's not the best card, but it irritates me that I can play Ghost of Tsushima, or CyberPunk2077, or Elder Ring in ultra, all at more or less 45 fps, and I can't run Cities Skylines 2 in low quality at more than 22 fps
I wanna try playing Cities Skyline though I don’t know which one I should buy. I see a lot of people praising for the one being better and also having a lot of content (dlc or mods). But I’m still not sure
I dont think Quays are needed, just the current way of making quays needs to be easier, to keep a straight level. Anyways thats a tiny detail, sorry.to be so blunt but I really dont think that would bring anyone back by itself. 2 main issues; lack of assets and simulation performance. 1 will be fixed in 2-4 months hopefully, but 2 I dont see being fixed. Everything else is just details, however there are hundreds of other issues too and together they bring the game down also obviously.
Id be interested in more cities videos :) I feel the same about cities that its like a toxic lover you keep going back to LOL although for a less moderen city builder, manor lords has been my fix.
Criticism regarding rushing things several times in a row is definitely valid, but I think we don't keep the same energy for EA. They rush things out all the time and don't care about people's opinions whatsoever, yet we still buy their products and keep complaining. Of course it doesn't mean that Cities' company can do the same sh** and everyone has to buy it, but I think they are at least trying to listen to their customers.
I’m the opposite. I went back to cities one and realized how bad cities 2 two was. Lol the problem is city skylines too is it’s too overly complex and areas It should be basic and two basic in areas it should be more complex such as traffic control.
So, I have neither of the two, so should I buy the first or second one? That's my overall question because I don't want to spend money only to spend it again on the other game.
I hate that I am not able to play cs 1 anymote, because cs 2 gave me so many utility tools with buildung, that cs 1 is so cluncy and snow for me, but the rest of cs 2 is so bad, that I also cant play that game anymore too...

I think people from the company don't get, even if they give everything for free, people will not play it.. lol. I bought the xbox game pass for a day to try out cities2. Like the title, It was 2 fps when it came out. I refunded and never touched it again. My appetite hasnt returned because I dont see beautiful cities being made by content creators. When youtubers like two dollars twenty gain more attention from the beauty building they make, the game might be seen in a more positive light
As if I saw Sach’s PC specs, did a lil’ googling and eBay-ing and expected that something like that would cost a grand or so… only to learn that a modem of similar specs would set me back about £350 which is no more than I paid for my surface laptop🤦🏻♀️😂

I just loved Citys skylines 1 and I am disapointed with cs2. I think nearly all cities look the same : grey , concrete. And there are sooo feeeew building variations! I mean the rowhouses... There are just ONE type of building for each Size! And why is nobody talking about the fact that european low houses look more american, the american ones! I mean its just this one awful ugly block that should look like a house. Where did the developers take their "inspiration' from? I'm from Germany, and for me it's impossible to build a village that look nearly like any Village in europe! It's embarrassing that there are only so few ugly houses! I hope it will get better with the region Packs (And I think it'll be the best to ignore the buildings on uneven terain, that are even worse as in CS 1)
Mods should not be community patchs of an unfinished game. The game is crap by default and mods fanboys are the useful idiots of paradox and colossal which will always take side of mods solutions for all problems you may encounter or any other poorly developed feature originaly in the game. As long as ppl are willing to buy over priced dlc, nothing are going to change to the core game, sadly.
Really sad that they botched part 2... part 1 was awesome. But it seems they hoped the quick-money-train as most of todays game devs. They will not see any cent from me anymore. Vote with your wallet!

Dude you didn't even mention mods and how it's is holding up the game right now. Your video is off by 1. Mods are holding up the game now there are detail mods and move it and so on. But I guess your just too butt hurt mention that. Also saying that is is the final straw? Funny coming from the guy who said the same thing about the Sims 4 and keeps complaining and giving it a chance. Next time mention the mods or what's holding it together.
