48hrs? My sister has regularly worked for 72hrs straight multiple times. This is a inhuman profession. When her duty used to be in NICUs they can’t even sit for 24hrs straight. One time she fainted and I visited her in the hospital during covid. What I saw shocked me to the core. All her colleagues had bandages in their legs because of standing for 24-36 straight hrs! Don’t know why doctors don’t protest against this long inhuman duty schedules.

The angle of drug nexus, organ selling nexus, should not be overlooked. SSR case resembles this case to a great extent. SSR made India aware that a drug nexus in Mumbai was responsible for his death! Almost all doctors work for 48-72 hrs shifts during their residency. I personally did such duties while my surgical training - upto 72 hrs duty twice a week. This is kind of glorified but the huge mental and physical strain it causes is irreparable. Most doctors i know have dealt with some form anxiety depression and suicidal ideation. This is due to immense work pressure, toxic work environment, long duty hours, and harrassment by patients at work. This harrassment is a daily thing we encounter.

By going on detailed probings and investigations, more evils done by these rapist will be unfolded. Therefore citizens should protest sensibly. Quicker capital punishment will put full stop to this chain of crime. Also, public demanding for the resignation of Mamata doesn't mean BJP should sandwich TMC. The public should demand for their right as such protesting for her resignation, action agains the ex principal, etc. However my point still revolves back to politicians taking advantage of this situation to gain power which is gross and outlandish.

@@Sixx_012 that's what politics is all about. Morality doesn't work here. It's Mamata who provided BJP a tool against her. If she had taken proper measures in required manner, it wouldn't go this far. Hospital Management, Bengal Police and government were busy declaring it a suicide at first, then they wiped out all the evidences and now they're busy saving the real culprits and filing FIR against the students and doctors who are raising their voices for the victim.

It’s not a issue to doctors; it’s issue against women nationwide. There must be a separate law to be created to safeguard women or girl child against these issues. There should be separate team created which should be monitor under Supreme Court without any control of central/state across nation. These central/state governments will not do anything in each states which is very sad thing for our country 😢
