Subscribe to Wagon Hockey Here: / @wagonhockey Connor Bedard earned exceptional status to the WHL. In this video we take a closer look at his skills and breakdown what makes him such a special player.
I live in Vancouver and played with Connor through minor hockey and he’s honestly such a good person he reminds me a lot of Austin Mathews and I hope the best for him🙂
I can’t believe I didn’t even think of that. I was just happy he plays in Saskatchewan so I’ll hopefully get to see him play when he comes here. I totally forgot team canada will have him for all future events as well, it’d be so cool to see him, and Shane oh my gosh so many good players are gonna be on our world junior team in a few years.
@@tylergates772 savoie is better overall. Not only is he good offensively, but he's very good defensively. He's a better skater and he's more of a team player. Bedard is very fancy and often tries to score the goal himself. Bedard is obviously good but savoie is just the complete player. And before someone tries to comment "how come bedard got exceptional status and savoie didn't", there's more to it than savoie "not being good enough". Skill was not the reason he was denied, his lack of commitment to the WHL was the reason. He originally wanted to play college hockey instead of the chl.
Seen him live. I’ve played with friends who went to the nhl and also one went 1st in whl draft. This kid looks like he is 25 when he is on the ice. He is the first to go to the dub as a 15 year old which is amazing in itself. when he plays his draft year for the pats he is will score at will, make my words. He will be strong and his shot and skating will get better along with his mcdavid hands. He will get a lumps in the whl but he will learn the speed and will adapt super quick. He has lower body strength which is natural for him and should grow close to 6 ft by his nhl debut.
Bedard is nasty but he reminds me more of a young Nate Mackinnon... I'd reserve the McDavid comparison for Matty Savoie - the kid skating at 0:16 - both are young studs of course.
Hes crazy i remember he was on my buddys lil bros team for awhile, id see him playing before my games sometimes dude was 7 playing with 13 year olds lol
@@robloxarabicgaming3847 What does it matter? Bedard's still a kid nonetheless. Why you stalking Nolan's page anyways? I don't know him, you don't either. His channel looks cool though.
That cut to the inside on the 1 v 1 with the five hole goal at 1:06 is sick skill and awareness... I'm gonna start working on that one. P.S. Barbs I challenged you on my hockey field goal challenge video (check Sniper's Academy RU-vid) how for you think you can huck it??
my problem is i have really good hands and the best shot on my team but im slow and my edgework isnt great so i get like 3 chances a game:( ive been rly hitting the gym to get that weight off and practicing every day to get my edgework better hopefully ill get some chances soon
36 games and 43 goals, when I was 15yrs old I got 50 goals in 24 games, got selected for team Australia and still knew I couldn't make it to the NHL being that I was only 60kgs or 132 lbs. Now I'm 34 and at fully trained will be 73kgs or 160lbs. But the NHL is all heavyweights! Also I'm 173cms tall or 5'6
That's not true at all if you actually watch the NHL lol. It is definitely NOT all heavyweights and in fact the size is dramatically going down. Also if you're comparing your stats from and Australian League when you were 15 it is hardly comparible to North American leagues. I mean no offense. Im so glad there is hockey there. But if you're comparing the 2 the competition over there is not nearly as good. If you're unaware there's an NHL player who is 5"4" in his 9th NHL season named Nathan Gerbe. There's many players from 5"7" to 5"11" in the NHL currently. Many of them superstar players like Kane, Crosby, Atkinson, St Louis...I could go on forever here. Educate yourself before you give an opinion.
You did a good job of pulling only the most impressive clips. I previously wasn't impressed by what I saw and thought Iguchi was more explosive but this kid has more tools it seems.
I think if you receive exceptional status than you can choose which league you play in because the said that the others opted to play in different leagues
Like Crosby or McDavid.. No. He is a young player playing with older guys right now. But his play so far this year would not indicate he’s the next “Big Thing”
Some whl teams wont even consider size anymore. Mike johnston in portland tells his scouts to leave out size completely when telling him about prospects
