We had Lowland Scotch come through our Costco about a month ago and is really good, a 92 proof sherry bomb at $26. I loved their Islay Single Malt that hit about a year ago, 100 proof and highly peated. It doesn't taste exactly like Caol Ila but it's rumored to be their juice and was only $38. Went back and bought two more bottles the next day - I'm buying a case if it ever comes back!
I’ve had a few different bottles of their stuff over the years. It’s not great stuff but usually the bottles are larger and/or inexpensive. It’s fine for what you are paying. What’s great about Costco is when they get high-end bourbons for well below MSRP.
Agreed best value age statement Scotch single malts. I am still working on my 15yr and 22yr. My 20yr bottle was all gone. Comparing to something like Glendronach, Mortlach, Tambdhu, or even Glenmorangie like the 15 yrs cadboll estate, the Kirkland sig all aren't as complex and/or expressive in flavor either nose or palate. But if I see more of them, I would grab one or two without any hesitation for what they are. Cheers.
I have had the Kirkland Blended Scotch, and when I was heard about the price, which was $17 for a 1.75 L bottle at a Costco in Southern California, I was afraid to try it and absolutely certain that it would be undrinkable. While nothing special (certainly not a Balvenie 12 Single Barrel or an Arberlour Abunadh), I was quite surprised at how drinkable it was. It was smooth and decent. I wouldn't buy it for my home, but if someone is throwing a big party, then I think it should be on their list. While not great, I would also say not bad. Can't beat the price or the value.
Hi guys , Englishman in Mexico, Trenton, try two scotches, Aultmore 12yr Foggy Moss and the Bunhabhain 12 yr. in that one it’s also cask strength available , sherry forward , normal is 92 proof the cask strength is 118 to 120. You will love either . The Aultmore is just lighter, so fresh with real flavours in there, two to try and I guarantee your journey will be on the next rung of the ladder , both available in the states. Once a year Costco has their Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Sells out as fast as it goes on the floor usually. This years was really good, my bottle clocks in at 92 proof and was a whopping $20 to purchase. Highly suggest you try a pour of it if you can.
I found myself a bottle and was impressed, especially for the price. Unfortunately it gave me a pretty bad headache afterwsrds which others don't. Doesn't mean I won't power through it and finish off the bottle however. 😂
bourbon or scotch line is a tough question. their SiB bourbon at 120 proof is incredible. the Bib is really great for the price too. the 16 and 18 year scotches are also great though.
Just picked up their London dry gun, it is kinda empty, left me wanting more flavor notes and botanicals. I'm sure it would be a fine batch cocktail mixer but for my gin and tonics I had to use double the volume to match the flavor of my previous castle and key.
I had high hopes for it, but it is the worst London Dry gin I’ve ever had. I’ll take Trader Joe’s Admiral Joseph’s London Dry for $7.99 750 ml any day over Kirkland’s.
Trenton get yourself a Dalmore Cigar Malt bottle. You will love this single malt. Gets even better after you let it sit in the bottle for a few months. Excellent sipper.
These comments are spot on. The Kirkland bourbons sell fast, last I went they had gotten the Small Batch in, a woman bought a case right there. Still hoping to get their Single Barrel release, but love their bottled in bond as a mixer. Can't best their prices on other products as well.
Costco is great for the random times when they have good Bourbon for below MSRP. Things like Heaven Hill BiB for ~$40 or Russel's Reserve for $35. Then there's the reports of places like SoCal getting Blanton's for $60. Of course being in Colorado they have a bunch of local stuff that still isn't worth the discount.
Not sure if you guys have considered this or are able to, but I would love to see some content from the distilleries you visit! Also, would love to hear your thoughts on Edwin Coe distillery in Churubusco, IN. I’ve heard really good things. Keep up the great content gents!
I have (or have had) all of these and the 15 is my favorite of the lineup. The one I think is the best bang for the buck was the Islay Single Malt though. I think the Kirkland Scotch line has more standout bottles than their bourbons, but the bourbons are consistent value for the money whereas their cheaper Scotches there are some stinkers. Then again, I’m probably more acclimated to a budget bourbon profile than I am to a budget Scotch profile.

I got the Costco BiB that has 1792 juice in it. Compared it to the actual yellow band bottle 1792 BiB and I couldn’t tell the difference if there was one. $40 out the door for 1L of the juice is a good deal.
Glenallachie 12 yr old is $80 at Binny's now. The first bottle I bought there after Billy Walker took over was only $45! I'm glad I didn't love it because I can't stomach paying 80 bucks for a 12 yr regular strength whisky.
I’m pretty sure Alexander Murray is a NDP, they are a indy bottler. When Trenton ask what the equivalent y 90% of what on the shelf for bourbon. Those barrels to make that blend could be from all over Scotland.
I do get booze from Costco but it's always the branded stuff except for the French vodka and the Blanco tequila. Now I'm thinking I should try their older single malts...
you should look for the 4x200ml Tour of Scotland Single Malt whisky set that has Highland, Speyside, Lowland and Islay and compare the different regions. $60 at my Costco.
Not into scotch yet. So I prefer Kirkland bourbon stuff. But I am curious about their rum. One of the rums is produced by mount gay so it's probably pretty decent.

Wife and I love Monkey Shoulder. It's a staple Scotch in our house because of the value. I highly recommend it to anyone searching for a great, affordable Scotch. Haven't had the chance to try any of the Kirklands yet.
Illinois Costco had a four-pack of aged Scotch in December through early spring. It might have been a way to get the additional age statements you are searching for. I did not buy it for fear of liking something and then never seeing it at Costco again. This Illinois Costco rarely has the Kirkland Bourbon.
My Costco had the second Bookers release this year for 89 bucks! I've not found the courage to try their house brand, but they just got a Kirkland bottled in bond bourbon
I’ve had a couple bottles of Kirkland BiB and compared it to the actual 1792 BiB yellow band. Couldn’t tell the difference. Worth a buy when you get the chance again.
Bay Area CA. Got that Kirkland 17 year Scotch. The 1.75L scotch blend is decent. Ok, but I think scotch isn't for me. Got the Kirkland bourbon small batch, pretty good for $18 for 1L. Waiting for the 1L BIB $25 and then the Single Barrel price unknown.🤞 I do prefer the bourbon line but only tried 1 of the 3 varieties.
Their Bourbon is Barton and most is quite good. This, not so much it seems. Sam's has some Scotch that isn't bad. There ya go. Have a blind of wholesale store brands.
I think for me it comes down to, I can buy this 17 year Costco scotch…. Or Old Foster 1910 or 1920, or even four roses single barrel….I’m not picking the scotch

If you live close to KY, cross the border. The KY Costcos you don't even need a membership. The liquor is separated from the actual Costco. You just go in, buy whatever you want and leave. Like a regular liquor store, but wholesale style.
Title should be “Scotch” instead of “whiskey” considering Kirkland also makes bourbons. Was disappointed it was only focused on the scotches given the title
