Just finished watching your M1 Ultra unboxing...WOW!!. The timing of that was serendipitous! I will definitely be getting one, even though my hubby has an XTool D 20W, and he's had a LOT of fun with it. I must be lucky as I bought a Maker a several years ago and I've had no issues (Knocking on wood). Now, I'm not using them in a crafting business capacity, more just for holiday decorating and occasional gifts and fun stuff, so I've probably not put it through its paces.
Yes, I totally agree. I have a maker 3 and had so many problems and Cricut changed there phone support to a call center outside the country and found they had very little knowledge about the machine. That’s why I bought the Romeo. It’s a learning curve but I love it. I’m so glad I switched. Thankfully you have a lot of tutorials on the Romeo. I have learned a lot from those videos.
I had a Brother Scan n Cut and I used to have a cricut. I decided 4to try Siser Romeo. I like the Romeo. I think they gave it nice throught indesigning it. I like software I think it has nice features.
@@ashleefalco more people are moving toward the Siser machines. I also hope to do so as well. I'm just debating which one would be best for me to purchase.
Yep! I have done that for the last 6 months. The worst problems serm to have become severe since this new Layers portion was added. I report and even call Cricut. The last email the CEO put out seemed to have blamed underpowered operating systems or user error. Ug!
As someone who used to manage software development, a huge red flag is having to constantly release updates. I had to install three DS updates, one after the other one day. That’s bad management. They have a core business. Concentrate on that so people don’t want to leave. Let people download their SVG files. They’ll find ways to do it otherwise. Why not keep them as customers? It’s nuts.
I would not recommend Siser cutting machines. Why? I had three Siser Romeo machines, and all were damaged. But that is not the main reason for not recommending Romeo or Juliet machines. It's because Siser is not innovating with add-ons for their cutters. There are no roller blades and only a single slot for a standard blade or marker. The blade module is awkward when inserting the blade, and if it's not done correctly, it will tear up the material. WiFi connectivity isn’t user-friendly, and their software development time for each upgrade is taking forever. The team made promises for new add-ons and additional cutters for fabric back in early 2023 and never fulfilled them. Is the Romeo or Juliet cutting performance any good? Yes, as long as the blade is perfectly inserted at the right height. Otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend them. That said, there is a newcomer in cutting machines for crafters: Singer. Yes, I know, Singer is not well-liked in the sewing segments, but the new Singer Momento 24" Craft Cutting Machine may be a game changer for the rest of the cutter brands. I have the Singer Momento 24" Craft Cutting Machine, and it is fantastic. The Singer Momento not only cuts vinyl, leather, and card stock but fabric as well. The Singer Momento is so versatile there are no limits to what you can cut. This cutter comes with a roller blade, a standard blade, and a marker, and it has housing for both the marker and blade. The Momento hardware is solidly built, just like the Cricut. One drawback with the Momento is the MySewnet Craft software that connects to it-it was terrible when I first purchased the cutter. Will the software get better? Maybe. I noticed Singer is updating the software consistently. So, if Singer gets their act together and fine-tunes the software, I absolutely believe the Momento is going to change the way cutters should be. 😎
the add-ons for their cutters isn't correct - this year they came out with 2 new tools for their machines (engraving tip & scoring tip). It is true that there is only 1 housing for all the tools/blade but I can forgive all that for a well working software. But I do agree their software development is taking it's sweet time to get to where I would want it to be, but on the flip side when they do release an upgrade there's no glitches (unlike Cricut, they release something new and there's a laundry list of glitches that follow). I have heard about the new Singer machines! I've gotten a few of their ads and it looks so promising! Especially for fabric crafters! I'm going to look into it more since I keep hearing about the machine and now their software!
I tried doing Print then Cut today--as I have done many times before-(not the Cricut Access feature) and made sure to flatten each item as before. Today it cut out each and every letter & graphic on the page-not just once but two different times! It's never done that before! There was an update either yesterday or day before so I'm sure that broke design space. Plus changing a font takes forever! One time I had to shut down DS just to make it quit! I am a relatively new user of Cricut with the JoyXtra but I am seriously looking to change to a Silhouette Cameo.
The amount of time it does take to change fonts is pretty annoying. I'm use to working on inkscape where I click a button and it's instantly changed. p.s. try the Siser software (before buy a machine - it's free to download - play around with it and see if that is something you can grow to like. I prefer it over Silhouette)
I have an Explore Air 2 that has always worked well for me. The problem is design space. I have been asking for ages for them to make a Rhinestone option. If I wanted it now, I would have to buy a Silhouette program to make the Rhinestone project. I would love to try the one by Xtool but need to save up money. So many crafters who were doing Cricut tutorials are now doing Embroidery and laser engraving with massive expensive tools that the average crafter cannot afford. The Design Space crashed on me right in the middle of the project and I lost it and had to start over again…ugh.
I'm pretty sure you know how I feel. Every time I open DS it's all I can do to not call a lawyer. The time wasted due to their craptastic, reliably unreliable, program is just not okay. I'm incredibly frustrated by my creative frustration reliever. 😢
Oh boy I so agree with you. I've been trying to use Design Space for 3 hours and now duplicate prints disappear and then I try to undo and it doesn't work. I try to save and it tells me to call Cricut. Ugh I hate Design Space.
I’ve been totally frustrated with Cricut lately. Their whole focus seems to be on constantly pushing out new machines and VINYL, VINYL, VINYL! I’ve written them many times about this, stressing the fact that not everyone is interested in working with vinyl and they are losing the paper crafters ad a result. When I got my first Cricut machine I was thrilled with it because I could do things I wasn’t happy doing in the Silhouette software. But, constantly trying to get a step on the competition has not been the best for Cricut. But, it’s happening in most of the craft industry. I chuckled when you mentioned the rumour about an embroidery machine, because the SVP group (Singer, Viking, Pfaff) have recently released a cutting machine. I have had Viking embroidery machines since they first introduced one and have updated to the TOL each time. But, recently the quality has dropped odd, they have closed all their branches in Canada and major repairs necessitate sending machines to Tennessee and take months to get back. And their customer service is terrible. Stick to what you’re good at should be a motto for these companies. Sorry for the rant! 😂
I get so frustrated with Design Space, too. My biggest pet peeve, though is that I have a 14" screen and DS only leaves me about 6" of canvas work area, so for 1 thing, I can't get over far enough to change the canvas color. Their headers and side panels are so wide when I'm looking at my projects and/or images I can only see a small portion at a time. Not all of us are working on a 17" screen, Cricut!
I have purchased cricut machines since 2007/8 i rarely have any problems. I hated silhouette studio. I keep saying i will try pulling my Cameo4 out and try my business edition again.
I am the third owner, yes you read that correctly, third iwner of my explore air 2. The machine cuts viny and paper so well, however, the print and cut feature is awful. I am a medical coder and hav3 so many ideas for stickers that I am sure I could sell to other coders, yet my machine won't do it. I saw that Jiffy is doing stickers now and wanna test them out.
I haven’t had issues with design space. Butttt I also use canvas workspace by brother and that gives me major headaches cause my design will just disappear while using the online version. I have a scan n cut (which I absolutely love) but the software is pretty skimp compared to design space. Is the frustration when it comes to the “make it” because in that case I have no idea lol. I only have the cricut mug press.
I've heard so many good things about the scan-n-cut machine but then I hear nothing about their software. You're the first person that has even talked about their software LOL
@@ashleefalco lol. yeah not too much to say about it. Although, I do love being able to just send designs to my machine wirelessly and make any changes or edits right on it. I’ve been watching your ink space videos and they’ve helped drastically with seamlessly creating 🤓so a big thank you 🙏🏼
Thank you so much for posting this video. I have learned a LOT here. I had canceled the Cricut membership and found out I couldn't get my stuff out of there so I had to subscribe again. I will be checking out your other video and then drop the Cricut membership again. I’m at the point that I don’t believe Cricut is concerned about improving Design Space. They seem to just be interested in making new machines etc. I’m soooo disappointed. I’ve been looking at the Romeo or Juliet also.
I have the Maker original not had any trouble rather than the maker 3, I also have original explore and the joy. They need to sort out the design space, especially with the updates
I used my maker 3 times and the back metal piece came out. It doesn't work anymore. I used my expession for years then they took away the software for it.
from a business owner side of things, I understand that there is always money allocated to different sides of the job. For my cardstock company I set aside a certain amount of money to purchasing new items and allocate other moneys in other spots. So I can understand that in the Cricut company they might also do the same. That said, if currently one side of your company is struggling hard then you need to start allocating more money to that side so there isn't all these issues.
So just to clarify … if I stop paying for the membership Cricut I can still use design space as long as I have my svg file or design already made. Will I be able to create my files??
If you used Cricut access files to make the projects, then you’ll either neither to purchase those images separately later when you go to cut it again or redesign the file without those files so you don’t have to purchase it.
I have had the same issue for over 5 months and ive been calling them maybe 2 3 times a week . my machine at times stops and flashes red half way through a cut or score .and sometimes it works fine cricut customer servies are really making me angry because they are asking for a video of the error, ive told them over and over how can i show you a video when i do not know what it will happen. . there is one customer service lady who remembers me because ive spoken to her so many times over the same issue. i said just send me a replacement machine (maker 3 im using )as 5 months of the same issue is driving me bonkers and cleary something is wrong with my machine and she replies we cant untill u send a video .. so frustrating them she asks again am.i using one of my own projects i sometimes say yes and she blames that yet when i say i am using Desgin space projects she hasnt got an answer at all ..i dont want to obviously be rude to them as they are only doing their job i asked for a manager to call and still to date no manager has called
That lining red light is so frustrating! and the problem with trying to recreate these issues is that you have to have a camera rolling at all times so you can actually catch the issue! But I know exactly what you're saying about the score line and it stopping half way through actually! One of my explore air 2's do it often! I keep little post it notes on the inside of each machine to remind me of their issues.
@ashleefalco honestly it is driving me mad especially if it is a cut and I'm wasting card and cricut try to say sorry by offering me a 10%code I am like why am I gonna be buying from you site with a code and this company earns from mistakes you make in the machines etc i tell them my card is not from yous I buy mine bulk in 300gsm in packs of 100 12x12 sheets here in the uk for £16.99 ..if it is a red light on scoring I can deal with that but when it is half way through a cutting I am Peed off so much as one u cannot re add the mat in with that same card as it doesn't always cut in the same area and if I have used the pen also and it happens it isn't just card that is wasted it is the ink in the pens too and obviously my time as make things in the 100s for a charity for kids (ie this years halloween cereal boxes ) I even find that by reporting something it doesn't help they make a new update and that sometimes makes it worse lol
I have vowed never to buy a Cricut again. They're customer service and software is the pits! Both of my Cricuts broke in the exact same way. Cricut has lost a really good customer.
@@aliciaquintero2565 the top lid doesn't stay open anymore and you have to manually open it now. The front door doesn't open on its own. I can still cut on it but it's ridiculous when these machines aren't made well. I actually had a third machine that I sent back because it was still warrantied with the exact same issue.
Cricut's print and cut feature makes me want to smash my face into a brick wall. It is BEYOND frustrating to waste all my time and money via materials to have the machine scan the registration lines and then go completely off kilter and wildly fuck the cut up and completely ruin the piece. And that's when it actually manages to successfully scan the registration lines, don't even get me started on the dozens and dozens of times it doesn't detect them for no reason. I have really grown to hate this machine and deeply regret buying it.
My cricket air too, has a problem when I do a text word and try to make it bigger the word it stretch apart. I have to put a box around it when I first had it before they did upgrades is anyone else having problems like this?
I don't think I understand your issue. When you design is is set to say 3" but then when you cut it cuts at a totally different size unless you put a box around it?
I would love to see you play around with the Cricut. Although I know there's a lot of headaches with the Cricut software right now, the Cricut is brings me so much joy.
