Been doing this for a year! Every other day: olive oil prepoo for an hour, head and shoulders eucalyptus 2 in 1, mane and tail herbal gro conditioner. I then apply carefree curl activator and airdry. I finger comb underwater before I apply the 2 in 1. Hair grew 14 inches in a year :)
I like the fact that you tried it before telling people not to wash their hair every day....some RU-vidrs just say stuff without trying it for example grease
you prolly dont give a damn but does anybody know a trick to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly forgot my account password. I would love any tricks you can offer me.
I wear cornrows because I work out everyday, so I wash my hair daily. My 4c hair absolutely LOVES it. I have minimal shedding because it’s constantly moisturized, and it grows like crazy. ❤
I wash my hair twice a week as I work out. Newsflash my hair picked up speed and began to grow well beyond an inch a month which is my usual. Over six months 8 inches of growth. Perhaps when the scalp gets a chance to detox, the roots are stronger. It is doing a detox without the formal term. Your method works and it is true you need not have a wash day but wash hour. Hair likes to be clean or more accurately your scalp loves being clean. No dandruff, nothing.
I did it when I broke out with the dermatitis eczema, and it helped heal my scalp. I am not one to wait until scalp is badly damaged, but washing it daily and moisturizing my hair, it helped me.
I’m so so glad you asked if people actually tried washing their hair to know instead of just repeating what they heard. When I was relaxed, someone told me to wash and set my hair 3 times a week and don’t use grease. My hair growth and thickness took off. Now that I’m natural I try to wash a couple times a week. My hair sheds much less washing more often.
@@nubiasista9709 To give bounce and fullness. Since I had really fine hair it was the perfect advice. My hair flourished. Grease weighs down fine hair.
Thank you for your video. About 6-7 years ago, I would rinse my hair in the shower, moisturize (LCO method) and let it hair dry after my big chop because my hair was so short. Once a week I would use shampoo and condition. It grew so fast. I gained 5-6 inches that year (even with 2 trims that year). Once I started doing twistouts and braidouts every week and only washing 1x a week, my hair did not retain nearly as much length as rinsing it daily. I've been rinsing it again since Dec 2021 so only 2 months so far, and my hair is loving it! I wish I never stopped doing this. This is my main regimen. I'll do braidouts and twistouts probably every few months for a week just to switch things up. I don't like how black women are told that we shouldn't wash or wet our hair every day in the shower. I used to think that and that's probably the reason why I stopped 7 years ago. I feel like as black women are really holding ourselves back from what we want for our hair. A lot of us want growth or less itchy scalp and we're not getting it because we are watching what everyone else is doing. I have heard people say that we are "acting white" by doing this and I don't understand that because everyone needs water. A lot of us want to just hide our hair and oil our scalp and think that it's helping but we've been doing it for 10+ years and we are still at the same length with the same scalp issues. I used to have itchy scalp in the past because I would only wash my hair 1x a week and I don't have that problem anymore. I wish all black women would do this especially those who have problems with growth because washing my hair 1x a week was not enough for me to see growth even though I would rebraid and retwist at night. My hair actually gets moisturized when I drench it in the shower and then apply products. It does not feel as moisturized when I spray some water on it and then apply products. If your just spraying water and then applying products multiple times a week, over time, the hair is getting buildup and the water cannot get to the hair. Also, wetting it in the shower clears the scalp of debris, removes some product for more water to get in, and it promotes circulation so I can totally understand why I and other people who have been doing this have seen better scalp conditions and more growth.
Laughing cos your hubby doesn't know you don't wash your hair everyday. Yes that's men for you. My hubby used to call any makeup that has to do with my eyes mascara until i showed him what mascara was :)
I recently posted about this in 3 groups on FB and they have been giving me a strong disagreement...lol. I started to work out and my scalp wasn't having it so I moved from 2-3 weeks washing to once a week and my hair has never felt this better. I also decided to do this because the group owner of one of these groups mentioned it and included it in her 30 days hair growth method, suffice to say, people ate her raw. People talk about stripping the sebum and hair dryness if you wash too often but I say, our tight coils doesn't even let the sebum move past the scalp except you keep your hair stretched and sebum is able to move down the length by you doing a scoop and spread. So this sebum we are trying to protect is actually just sitting on the scalp, build up, dry and everything begins to flake (my logic...lol). The once weekly I currently do makes me feel like putting back moisture before the previous moisture expires. My hair no longer feels dry, less tangles, less breakage. And scalp is not dry, my hair has more movement. And I discover the more you do this the lesser time your washday becomes.
I have never oiled or greased my scalp. I use a scalp massager then brush my hair to distribute my natural oils. I use a clarifying shampoo before my regular shampoo. Sunday is my only wash day. My hair responds well to this
.y hair was in horrible condition from severe stress. It fibe fine, broken and thinning. I started daily washing summer 2022. My hair loves it. It's growing like weeds and thickening up. I condition once a week.
I can’t go a week with only 1 wash, it’s itchy and dry. When I watch every other day, my hair is gorgeous soft and feels great. My hair grows faster like a plant since I water it regularly
Me too. Washing only 1x week does not work for me. I used to think there was something wrong with my hair because everyone else on youtube was doing that. I've heard some youtubers say that if you have to remoisturize your hair more than once or twice a week, something is wrong. That really bothered me.
With shampoo daily my hair dried out. I did it when I was a teenager. I can wash my hair daily but it will have to be some co-wash days, water rinising days and regular shampoo days. I don't want to have to keep moisturizing my hair daily using all my products faster.
See this is me. I have thin fragile strands and I'm about to try every 4 days or so. I believe using a good quality protein shampoo and conditioner would help.
@@cfoster6804 yea, maybe so. I found that when I used a shampoo and/or conditioner with protein, everyday...my hair became hard and brittle. So, I use products that are protein free everyday and once a week, I’ll do a protein treatment. But I do give my hair protein with my diet and multivitamins.
@@Babyluv_ You are right! I have been washing every 3-4 days (not with protein shampoo/conditioner) and my hair actually feels stronger and easier to manage. I now know it's the hydration and keeping clean. I wonder if some people are experiencing fragile hair because if lack of hydration and build up. That may be my case. So this, washing more often, actually might be the fix for fine, fragile haired ladies.
I struggled with dandruff for years until I stopped putting oils and grease on my scalp. I found that letting my natural oils lubricate my scalp was all it needed. I may try washing my hair every other day because it's uber dry during this winter season (I live in New York). Your hair looks luscious!!!
I used to wash my hair everyday and I enjoyed it a lot. I didn't have any issues and it was actually very easy to maintain my hair. I can't wait to see your hair straight. It's good to switch it up every now and again.
I went from 2x a week to daily cowash and 1 shampoo per week. I got 3/4th of and inch from July - Aug. I'm 4a, I finger detangle and just do a curly gel wash and go daily. I use about a table spoon of oil mix to replenish what's lost. To me my hair's more moisturized than ever I mean its filled back to 10 every night lol. I feel like if you keep it low manipulation it's a game changer for growth.
@@iateyursandwiches I do both. I lean into Eco with Argan oil because it gives me the effect I like. I wash, I deep condition, then I go straight in with Uncle Funky's Daughter Curly Magic, its a botanical gel formulation that has a ton of moisture. I go on top with Eco for more hold. I keep smoothing and raking til my curls clump. I do the hydration method. For me it's a godsend and restored my curl definition. When I do a more drying gel, I put some oil on before these steps. Give it a try next time you clarify, I swear by it.
I was thinking how my hair loves to be watered like some plants do and then I found your video. I'm going to try this for a week. Thank you and you got a new subscriber 🙌💖

I started washing my hair every other day and using a detangle comb, and my LEGIT 4C HAIR LOVES IT, my hair has barely any shedding. I am oiling my scalp now once a month only, and using sulfur 8 grease once a week only and not combing it through, my daughters hair grew that way.
I have been washing my hair daily and the results are amazing I actually use my all natural shampoo which consists of (100% black African soap, aloe Vera, olive oil, tee tree oil, garlic and apple cider vinegar) the results are amazing I have short hair n extremely dry scalp so washing daily works ! My hair is getting thicker n is more moisturized and soft in just one week!
I am anemic and started losing my hair due to thinning. I came across two stylist called cutitkinky and it resulted in me no longer using oils and butters in my hair. Changed my hair for the good and my hair is now thick and healthy again. I guess less really is more.
😂😂🤣 I use to wash ever day my hair love it I will be tailbone length next year I stopped doing the washing daily it would have been tailbone length if I wouldn't of stopped I'm going back to daily washing thanks for sharing 🥰💕
I've always wanted to wash my hair everyday and I did do it when it was short but now it's very long. I think I'm just going to go ahead and take the plunge and do it again because I have a lot of products and I want more hair growth.
Daily washing can be stimulating to the scalp but this tends to work much better with v short hair e.g short back n sides...its also less hassle when the hair is short n quick to dry....today many r opting to keep their hair long..so don't get to experience the daily washing, which can be a really fab experience...xx
I recently stopped two week protective styling (in African threading) and started co washing my hair in twists every few days in between shampooing. My hair feels moist, almost tangle free, is not brittle (I have fine hair that snaps easily), and is more or less flake free (I have seborrheic dermatitis). Reminds me of when I first went natural and I could wet my twa every day. It’s too soon to say if I’m retaining more length though.
My hair thrives when I wash 2 to 3 times per week...when my moisturizing shampoo bar comes from Obia Naturals that I ordered, I may experiment with daily washing for a week
I don't wash my hair as often, but I've definitely found that soaking my hair with water helps with moisture retention I wash my hair every 2 weeks and rinse it with water between washes (1-3 times a week) and put a light oil after rinsing. I don't do a thorough detangling session, but only remove some of the shed hair that come out naturally when rinsing. I also don't wear my hair out and keep it stretched at all times. I experience less dryness, breakage and tangles and I've also found that my wash days (when I do a real detangling session) don't last as long because my hair is less dirty and less tangled.
im doing this now. and ai bought revair (for wen my hair grows) cus im not about to blow dry my hair every damn day . I buzz cut my hair so its only like an inch long but I wash with shampoo once a week and co wash everyday and we shall see what happens. Im tired of wigs and weave and braids and chemical i want to wear my own hair
This was a great experiment! I laughed so hard when you said your husband did know you don't wash your hair everyday 😆! I'm so happy to hear you are stepping outside of your comfort zone, I think that's awesome;) I'm definitely one of the people who look up to you!
Great video! I loved your approach to finding things out yourself and how you explained how you pick up habits and leave others behind. I think I'll give this a go!
Thank you. My daughter actually found this blouse at Forever21 during this shopping trip : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xbMviHzaVMU.html but decided she didn't like it.
Well done Shola 👏🏾👏🏾 I like this idea I don’t see a problem with this test it’s great to see your results. My hair even though I have Locs loves being washed not sure if i could wash it every day...your hair always looks amazing! 👌🏾❤️
I cleanse my scalp/hair weekly because I use heavy products throughout the week like shea butter, castor oil, henna oil and thick cream conditioners the longest I go without cleansing is two weeks and that pushing it
Thanks for doing this and sharing all your helpful insights. Daily shampooing is not for me because I do have fine strands, but I do cowash in between shampooing when I wear a wash and go because my hair tends to lose moisture more quickly in this style.
Even if shampooing daily makes the scalp hydrated. I don't like to restyle my hair too often because i notice the more I manipulate my hair .the more breakage. I tried daily shampooing as well felt very hydrating.
My hair is dry anyway whether I wash it daily or every other week...lol. But that is my own fault for not being consistent. Have you ever had a relaxer in the past? I regret ever putting one in my hair. I just turned 20 and I wore it for 10 years...my scalp stayed irritated with scabs. I well NEVER do it again.
@@DiscoveringNatural I am catching up on some of your videos today and I heard you mention it...and Lord knows that I am well over 20 now. I meant to say WHEN I turned 20, lol!
If i work out, it is twice a week And if i not work out, then once a week When i washed my hair i use after that a leave in detangler conditioner and hair oil. And then next day hair grease and that's it.
Earlier today I was looking at the heritage shampoo at Walmart and wondered if it was really gentle and then you post this video!😂😂 Thanks so much for sharing 💜
You should try oil washing… It works wonders… If you think you like the way your heart feels and act now…… You would love the way it feels after oils washing. I love your channel
I wash my hair twice a week in braids and it works out. It feels amazing, it gets my hair and scalp moisturized, it gets my curls redifined (I do not really care that much about aesthetic when it comes to my hair, I care more about its health but that still is a good point), it smells better lol and it's much healthier since I really LISTEN to my hair. We need to do what's good for ourselves and not what's conventionnally accepted.
Thanks for the clarification, however the purpose of my experiment was to see how “my hair” will react to being washed every day. In the natural hair community, people always say, it is not good to wash daily. I just wanted to see how “my hair” will react if it is washed daily WITH A SHAMPOO that allows the use of being used every day. Hope this helps you understand better. Thanks for watching
@@amixeblu No. Gentle enough for daily use means you can use it DAILY which she CHOSE to do. No one ever said the companies meant you HAD to use it everyday.
I think once in awhile washing your hair daily or more often than once a week wouldn’t hurt as long as you’re gentle. Your hair came out beautiful as usual.
I washed everyday when I first became natural. It was fun. Then I went close two a week without washing it. That is as far as I go without washing my hair. One week.
@@user-gc3rv6jw3n Either washing the hair with conditioner instead of shampoo, or using a specific 'cowash' product that's basically like a foaming and lightly cleansing coditioner
You're such an inspiration. I myself am high porosity so for me washing every week is a max. But with that being said I really do want and need to get out of my comfort zone and try some things. Like I still haven't even tried that color paint wax stuff. I want to get a protective style with extra hair not my usual shades (1b/4) maybe try some version of blonde and get some neat box braids with those. So many things 🙂 And believe it or not...I've never even worn my own hair in a wng. I do see my curl pattern but with my dry hair I'm like just 😬😖😖 But sometime in the spring time I wanna definitely do one and see how it lasts me.
I'm glad you did this video because i co-wash my hair sometimes and i feel guilty so i feel better now..i have a high porosity 4c hair and I like to co-wash in between to add moisture..i always enjoy your videos very informative 😊😊
I don't use shampoo every day but rinsing with conditioner is a winner! Honestly daily water rinsing is beneficial. That method is helping me retain my growth. I have a twa now. My hair is just a wash n go. I never washed my hair in twists in the past. Maybe that could cause some damage?
This video is very helpful because I was thinking about washing my hair everyday but I have fine strands. Can you please make a video on using hair grease?
But your hair looks different to me. Normally it looks fluffy like a good twist out. Now it looks small, like my high porosity, fine strand, 4c stringiness, except that it does look moisturized and soft, unlike mine. I’m not sure that was good for your hair. If you make it a habit, maybe the adverseness will gradually present itself.
I'm going to be doing this and I wanted to hear from someone who has so I appreciate this. I have dreadlocks so I was a little worried that it might loosen my locks but my scalp has changed over the last 6 months or so. I have always had a dry scalp but my skin in general is more oily now plus I workout often, so we'll seeee
@@DiscoveringNatural yea I just talked to a lady at a store that said she's black and can't wash her hair but once a month, and I was like well that's because of your hairstyle and preference not color. I'm white btw. I think white people wash too much and black people not enough. Shower everyday, but I wouldn't wash hair but 3 to 5 days at a time. Like with cleaning products. I don't think water in your hair daily matters, like a dog it will keep good oils on and dirt off with just water, not like scrubbing and stuff. Idk what is your thought on it. I saw Oprah said a long time ago that blacks are conditioned to think that water damages Thier hair, like they are born with a defect, and white hair is stronger. I think Oprah was right, and anytime someone says wash more they are mad fun of or act like they are nuts. Ps I am white but lived with a black family so
