@@drewcliff82 There are different levels of eye poke, you dimwit. DC poked Stipe so bad in the second fight that he needed SURGERY TO REPAIR A TORN RETINA. Last time I checked, DC didn't need surgery from the Stipe eye poke. So the rest of us will keep "dwelling on this." If you don't like it, too bad.
@Primetym24 Hahahaha. Yea I guess he did poke his eye in every round lol. The fight ended in 1 round idiot. Yes Stipe was moving forward and throwing shots but landed barley anything. The second DC got his timing down he blasted him to the canvas. In the second fight DC was whooping him for 2 and a half rounds. Stipe finally started landing some good body shots late in the 3rd then got the KO in the 4th. Jones did basically the same thing in their 2nd fight but in less time and with kicks instead of punches. It took Stipe 4 rounds before it dawned on him to use the one thing that caused this guy to get finished the only time he ever did. DC will not entertain that this time and will grapple fuck him the whole time.
You probably dont give a shit but if you are bored like me atm then you can stream all of the latest movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Have been streaming with my brother for the last few days =)
You forgot someone who had good success with the single leg... Stipe Miocic. Stipe went single leg after single leg on Francis, only occasionally shooting doubles.
Uncle Chael: after I watched the ESPN interview with DC I had a feeling you were gonna do a video on this topic. Please make a video addressing this question - why is no one talking about the eye pokes in BOTH fights from DC. I am a huge DC and Stipe fan, but I can’t believe no one is talking about this. Needs to be addressed going to the third contest! Really value hearing your opinion, keep up the great work
It's crazy how people are desperate for Chael, Rogan and others to talk about eyepokes. If you care about it good for you. But I can't remember fighters ever talking so much about eyepokes.
people are talking about it, Frank. DC "Cornea" has been exposed by many MMA enthusiasts. Stipe has been asked about it by Ariel H and stated no one has ever poked his like that before. Check out that interview.
I just can’t see a DC win. The 2nd fight reminded me of a little known fight along time ago. Jersey Joe Walcott vs Rocky Marciano. Walcott was technically brilliant, the superior boxer, and he had his best night. 12 rounds he danced and picked the rock apart, but he still lost. Rocky took his best shots and smashed Walcott with one of the hardest punches ever thrown. In the immediate rematch Walcott was Ko’d inside a round. Even the greatest of champions fall apart after having their greatest night and still losing, meeting the man who can take your best shots and keep coming back. I can’t see Cormier recovering from that 2nd fight. It was brutal.
DC's only successful strategy against Stipe was going for the eyes and even that didn't work through a whole fight. I think if he tries to grind out a decision that he'll gas by round 3 and Stipe will pick him apart in the championship rounds again.
its tough mah. They are both about equal. no crowd is better usually but insane fights like when justin gaethje is fighting i want a crowd to hear the hype lol
It’s different..I was psyched to see UFC Portland live, but I can appreciate how close we all sound to the fight as fans with all of the coaches, blows landing etc being so loud and clear. I like it
DC is phenomenal with the single leg. He doesn’t back out and stand up with leg, he locks around upper thigh groin area and lifts their hips out and slams them. He’s done it countless times. He’s doesn’t extend their leg out and try to knock them off balance. It’d be stupid to stand on the outside with both hands around Stipes calve/ankle with a reach and height like Stipe has.
@Nicky Bobby the octogon in their facility in Las Vegas is like 5' smaller all the way around. Not sure if DC & Stipe will fight there or not. Dtipe has said he doesn't want to fight in that octogon. We'll see. Dana will probably give Dtipe what he wants.
Stipe adjusted insanely well against JDS in their Rematch and beat DC in the 2nd and Stipe has taken DC down as well so i take Stipe all day in the 3rd
Let us also not discredit the power of TRT that may have given Randy, Hendo and probably many other aging fighters the ability to go longer than they would have naturally.
Chael ...... dude ....... SERIOUSLY...... THIS was quite possibly THE most insightful, informative, honest video you've ever dropped. As a Wrestler/Boxer (No BJJ experience YET) ..... everything you've said here is SPOT ON at least from this particular "boots on the ground", battle scared, veteran. Keep doing what you do my friend.
wow, top explained. And Chael is one of the people who tells really the truth I think. Please some more of such videos. I learned a lot. I already know that, but its good if you get confirmation. Three types of wrestling guys you need to level up. ....very good
The whole “I have your hands” thing sounds good but the problem is we all punches don’t just come from the arms, they come from the legs and hips. You can’t really put much into a punch when you’re hopping on one leg
didnt rumble hit him so hard he lifted DC up off the ground first? tbf if a dude hit me so hard he almost sent me into orbit id hug his legs so hard his gran would feel the love.
The reason DC is so successful with single legs is bc of the trips with the backfoot its a great video on youtube breaking dwn his techniques made me gain alotta respect for him
I think a lot of people are underestimating Stipe's wrestling and thinks that DC's easily going to outwrestle him. Yes DC is better, but in the second fight, DC didn't really accomplish a whole lot on top due to Stipe's good defense. And DC even got taken down in both fights, even though it was only for about 2 secs. I'm also wondering if DC's gonna have the cardio to wrestle for 5 rounds...
"The only man in MMA that has success with a single leg...Chris Weidman." Khabib, a man in the P4P GOAT argument, literally on DC's team, known for being a single leg specialist and not even mentioned. Hilarious.
I'm genuinely concerned that because of the importance of this fight, that DC's level of desperation could lead to Stipe legit losing one or both his eyes 😟
DC does a similar technique as Randy but he'll also shoot a head outside single that he can finish a few ways with... He's smooth as butter right there and Stipe is going for a ride when they battle.
I just watched the Khabib vs Iaquinta fight, and Khabib was shooting for a lot of single-legs and ankles, and landing most of them for the first half of the fight without really taking damage on the way in or while doing the takedown.
Most of these comments are about eye pokes. But it's not like Stipe doesn't have an 8 inch reach advantage, but he continuously let's DC inside his reach.
It's pretty obvious wrestling the the go-to option for DC next fight. So he's not saying anything Stipe doesn't know already. If he tries to strike, Stipe would have been suprised anyway, this is because DC shouldn't try to strike, he should wrestle; which was already the coaches' plan from fight 2.
Why everyone keep talking about the eye poke in mma there is a lot of accidental fouls and the eye poke didn't effect the results of the first fight he was going to win regardless and in the second fight if he wasn't knocked out he would have won on the score card Dc is the better fighter
If your game plan is good enough, it doesn't matter if your opponent knows what it is. For example, Khabib has one game plan. He doesn't keep it a secret. Every fighter knows exactly what it is. Yet Khabib keeps winning and dominating.
DC is going to retire as a heel and NOT use any wrestling.... Take the Ali way.... Make Tony train for a wrestler then throw him your best striker at last minute and have your striker train for Tony the whole time...
Khabib does a lot of single-legs doesn't he? I imagine going for a single-leg in heavyweights is a lot harder just because of how much weight and strength the opponent has; as well as how hard they can hit you while you're at it.
Tha apex is gonna definitely make sure somebody gets knocked out. If Daniel tries to wrestle once they get up he will get KO’d or he will knockout stipe when he gets up. Won’t last long or 2-3 round of that happens. If they do wrestle it’ll go distance and Daniel will win but I think this is a brawling match and if daniel going out it’s swinging . I also think Daniel isn’t retiring
UFC is entertainment. DC is 41 years of age and UFC needs salesmen for their entertainment product. You should be receiving a percentage of the gate for this UFC charade. The minute money became involved in martial arts it can no longer be called "fighting" but "charading" i.e. Yoel versus Adesanya, last several Anderson Silva fights
Stipe took Cormier down once in their second fight, I think the cardio is going to be important here. If he decides to grapple with Stipe its going to go into deep water.
I don't think DC at HW has the gas tank to wrestle for 25 minutes against a bigger and younger opponent at 41. There is a good chance he is training mostly to improve his striking and correct some of his mistakes, while at the same time hoping Stipe is training only wrestling. He will try to outwrestle Stipe in some of the first 2 or 3 rounds, but I think he knows, the second half of the fight they will be mostly striking. If he can get Stipe to fear his takedown, he has more chances of landing the big shot upstairs. That being said DC has to change his whole style as the "mummy guard" was exposed in the last fight and I'm surprised it took so long for someone to expose him. Stipe just has to not be too predictable with the body attack early in the fight. Maybe land one or two body shots and a few knees to the body in the 1st round and then land more and more with every single round.
