A 024 glue monkey would theoretically be a good support tower to add near the spike factory spike piles due to the stun adding repeated micro-intervols allowing for the spike factories to continue firing and adding new spikes.

Taking into account Call to Arms and Homeland Striker Jones and his 25% pierce buff might be better than Gerardo. A 4-2 spike factory with Call to Arms, high level sharpening stone and 1 instance of the 4 - 0 - 0 alchemist buff dealt 966 damage to the test bloon, while the one with the same buffs but Striker Jones's instead of sharpening stone dealt 981 damage. With homeland the difference is even bigger: 1530 vs 1620. I just did some really quick testing, if anyone wants to chime in with better data please do.

whenever i get 2 concoctions they always seem to get well over 10x the pops of just 1. they can chain explode off eachother which makes them greater than the sum of their parts

If I had to guess, I imagine the reason they didn't apply the perma spikes sticking around on reload to deadly spike is probably due to the fact that there's no real limit to how many deadly spikes you can use. You can only use one perma spike outside of co-op and it even attacks way slower than deadly spike, so there's only ever so many spikes the game would ever have to save and reload. Even with buffs to max out perma spikes attack speed there's a limit, do the same with deadly spikes and you could have like 50x as many spikes on the field if you really wanted. Saving that much data would be impractical and maybe they didn't want to have some compromise where an arbitrary number of spikes will be saved, so instead they just didn't bother.

I actually use deadly spikes whenever i feel like i need a nice little net at the end to catch the bloons (quite regularly)

It's hard to not skip over it, though. It goes from a brick wall to a wall made of ten feet of tungsten.

Long life spikes is situational as compared to a 1-0-2 spac. Before deadly spike, it can barely tank a Moab. With deadly spike, it upgrades to like 3. It literally multiplies the damage. I don't see how you could possibly consider that upgrade worse than some like laser blasts. P.S. I absolutely use deadly spike a ton, mainly in Odysseys because of the limits on towers and low end rounds

I oft use this spike tower, esp when not playin a game long enuf to get permaspike; i just like it a lot for cleanin up stuff that makes it thru other stuff. It means i dontve to care one iota about camo for example; tho any spike tower does that. I just rly like that bottom path and buffin the spike tower rather than just goin for the top path for my cleanup tower

Could striker be an alternative hero in this case? Unless they changed it i thought his +25% pierce affected every tower in his range, which would mean (depending on rounding) about as much as a sharpening stone on every spike factory?

You should try to be the map resort on chimps but you only place towers in the shade of the umbrella and on the chairs in the middle of the map.

I think your hero choice is more down to your crippling Geraldo Addiction instead of viability; Striker Jones with his 25% Pierce Buff would probably be better for the Spikes as it is for Permaspike, plus you can stall MOABs

Deadly spikes, regardless of its quality, can't be worse than Long Life Spikes. Those little blue caltrops do practically nothing. It's got that going for it, at least.
