I was just thinking that. Blevin might be up to something. She was warned by Partagaz and has also been too relentless for her peer's liking. My guess is she gets swept under the rug by a surprise ambush of sorts.
@@rothsshvili5125 How is cloning Dedra Meero going to help? Surely it is Dedra's personal mindset, her ruthless determination, ambition and resourcefulness which make her so formidable. Any clones that the Empire were to produce would not have Dedra Meero's upbringing and social circumstances rendering them useless.
I'd argue that she isn't done yet, I think the best of this character is yet to come...but these are just my hopes. Hell of a theory though... great content, cheers!
Could be just the opposite. As I recall, Dedra (as an officer of the ISB) is actually being played by Luthen Rael. One of the goals of the armory raid was to get the Empire to think a wide spread and coordinated rebellion is brewing and so the population must be oppressed to maintain control, thus stirring support for a galaxy wide insurrection.
He played everyone except for dedra. Remember right after the ISB goes into crack down mode dedra says they are doing exactly what the rebels want. And they’re actions of mass incarceration is going to create massive backlash
@@deepashtray5605 don’t worry I missed that it was Yularin in that meeting and had to rewatch it when a friend told me, which is how I picked up on the Dedra scene😂
I love that character. It is so well written and played, and she is a strong woman in a male surrounding making her way by competence and strong will. I hope they keep her in the serial.
It will be interesting if Dedra Meero is a Rebel Spy. The first Andor trailer showed images of people standing up and one of the images is Dedra. It should be noted that Luthen has spies everywhere and not all the spies are aware of who is working for Luthen or not. Also, Luthen showed little concern for Dedra's actions.
There's also the possibility that the ISB just didn't disclose coordinated galaxy wide rebel activity to the rank and file imperial military. The CIA holds information from the military all the time. It's also worth noting that in Rebels, after the "no evidence of galaxy wide rebel organization" comment, that it's immediately corrected by Grand Admiral Thrawn. Which whom we find out DOES have personal/professional ties with Valorum. So it actually still tracks in continuity.
So a downfall similar to Syril Karn’s, maybe even with him becoming her replacement’s assistant. Hopefully she doesn’t die - I’d like to see her reassigned to some low position in the Outer Rim, eventually becoming a crew member on the Chimaera.
I feel like we're gonna see the ISB Belvin do something dark and have her taken out or something so he can get back to his sector, So when she falls, she falls alone
I think it's unlikely Dedra will end up discredited, for the simple fact that she's been right to date and clearly has convinced her superiors of the validity of the evidence at hand. Trying to convince the ISB that she's a crackpot, or that her evidence is wrong, would do nothing more than make the ISB more suspicious and probably expose the mole -- because it would take so much more effort. A simpler solution would be to lure her to a location with domestic unrest -- like, say, Ferrix in the wake of Maarva's death and with the increasing Imperial presence -- induce a riot (probably not difficult), then stun her with a blaster (no suspicious blaster holes that might provoke a more thorough investigation and crackdown) and beat her to death with blunt weapons. Whooops, guess she got caught up in the riot, awful shame, she was a rising star, who else does the ISB have to do intelligence analysis? Yes, it's ugly and reprehensible as far as Rebel tactics go, but that's rather the whole point of this series -- the lengths that those like Luthen, Kleia, and Cinta are motivated to go to in order to counter the Empire. To consider the Thrawn angle, though: Thrawn has always been presented as a military genius -- both tactical and strategic -- with no particular aptitude for politics. For all his brilliance, he's no ISB analyst -- and the ISB, in its human-centric xenophobic outlook, probably wouldn't welcome him in the first place.
Agree 100%. I have been mulling similar sentiments these last couple of days. However, the method is the issue. I was thinking that the DoF will stage a bombing of the HQ hotel on Ferrix. In the process killing a majority of the garrrison and Dedra as will in the process. Some of your notions are excellent: Blevin & Lonnie staging a loss of credibility effort. Her assistant compromises her work in order to usurp her position, other novel approaches.
There isn't a disconnect though. She's correct to suspect but the Rebellion isn't connected. My feeling is they bring in Thrawn to handle it because they think she's correct. The various groups aren't actually united until after the Ghorman Massacre.
I think she leaves the empire as a whole, the ISB probably stops taking her seriously after she fails to find the rebel cell in the finale. Thrawn then approaches her with a deal, for her to join the chiss in secret since she could make a great asset
So, for episode 12, we have an attack on her when Dedra was at the mercy of the crowd, which is why she will have PTSD in the future (like Savin dan Glokta from "A Little Hatred"). And the Ferrix situation itself. In totalitarian states, they always try to push failures onto a scapegoat. I don't know what the consequences will be in the second season, but your theory turned out to be correct.
Syril and Dedra have the hots for each other and will hook up professionally and perhaps personally. Dedra’s assistant (or maybe Blevin) will figure that out and use it against her.
I think at the start of Season 2 we'll find Dedra checking the purity fuel levels on some forgotten planet in the outer rim. Syril will be her escape route back to Coruscant.
Her role is well played. I really dislike this nasty character. Her face must hurt after a day’s filming, walking around with that scowl on. Reminds me of Silvio Dante from the Sopranos in that way. Her being a plant by Luthen would be brilliant. He wants the rebellion to happen and what better way to insulate himself than his insider “discovering” it, and leading the investigation. Hear some talk of Luthan being a Jedi or Sith but Rogue and now Andor don’t seem to need any “I am your Father” moments to keep the story thrilling. I really hope more SW fans start watching this series but I don’t even think you need to be one to enjoy? This is one of the best series, of any genre, I’ve watched in some time!
I think there are two possibilities for her character. 1. She will survive ber "failure" to capture Cassian Andor and double down on being a true believer. 2. She will be made the scapegoat, cashiered out of the ISB and end up defecting to the rebellion.
She's not actually as smart as Thrawn. But Thrawn (according to Timothy Zahn) is more of an antihero and he's not ISB..... He's hands on leading a ship so around the galaxy.
I have a more tinfoil-y, “Because I got high” theory- all of these characters are part of the rebel alliance. This whole series is about how the rebel alliance was composed of people from all backgrounds, including within the Empire.
I think Syril ends up sympathizing with the Ferrix rebels somehow and eventually becomes a rebel. This turn discredits Dedra and she goes down as a result.
false evidence, like video of her meeting Syril outside the ISB building? Maybe Blevin gets video of that and tries to make it look like she coordinated with Syril to stage the whole thing to boost her career?
I predict that LT Meero will be blamed for the funeral procession uprising against the Empire (remember, she was the one that authorized it) and she will be the first officer to defect to the Rebels.
Well, it goes without saying. The ISB alone could not prove the existence of true size and nature of the rebellion that was growing. Grand Admiral Thrawn was Imperial Navy which fell under the authority of the Imperial Military. If people follow canon, Imperial Intelligence existed which openly cooperated with the military. It was noted from sources mentioned in several books, Imperial Intelligence and the ISB did not get along.
I think Andor is part of a reboot of the entire star wars franchise Klea might actually be Lea who could become the main character instead of Luke. So continuity becomes obsolete.
@@Michael20 That is the point. You change the past to change the "present". So rogue 1 is going to happen (already done in movie) but star wars 4,5,6 get rewriten. It is not that far in the futur. It is my theory. Marvel did mention they wanted to change 4,5,6 to make it more mainstream (woke). That is just my theolry. I do not underestimate how underhanded woksters can be with cultural icons such as 4,5,6 or any movie or anything deemed too white or too masculine.
@@Michael20 This is why, IF my theory is correct, that this awesome show is underhanded. They make a past we like and love to make us accept a rebooted woke version of star wars. It would also be scary since it means the wokesters are becoming more competent and finding the right button to push.
Disney has a good record of not sticking to continuity I've noticed that in other series and novels as well I really wish they would follow the continuity what sucks is they did away with legends it would be nice if they made a different time-line and made legends series and movies
One would assume that's the case, but while she is surrounded by men, and most of the commanders are men, I don't see her being treated differently because of her gender. I mean even considering this is overall extremally toxic, high pressure and competitive environment where people are stabbing themselves in the back on regular basic ;) The Empire is xenophobic and human centered but doesn't seem to be sexist. The ISB major treats everyone equally and don't do anyone any favors. If anything he quickly discovers Dedra's talents and let her pursue her case further. All he demands are the results, and you know you don't want to disappoint him. I finally see the Empire in the way it makes me believe they dominate the galaxy. They're evil, pride, and often egocentric but absolutely efficient in the way they don't waste their human resources by excluding or patronizing large porting of it. Aliens though are not even foot soldiers. Maybe part of the reason is they're harder to control and maintain than humans.
Yes. It's all rather shameful and plays into the male psyche's predilection for misogyny. Setting gender predjudices aside, Dedra Meero is simply too great a threat to the nascent rebellion: she must either be sidelined or discredited if the rebellion is to succeed.
What part of the character being fictional do you not comprehend? But there always has to be someone who trolls to get their - look at me, look at me - fix, congratulations, well done you....
