Is Deltarune A Bad Sequel? 

It surpasses the terms of "sequel" and "spin-off" lol

It's the sequel of undertale in an alternate timeline but whatever timeline it I'd in it takes place after undertale

Undertale was more-so a set-up for Deltarune imo. It started development after Deltarune (DR started 2011, while UT started 2013). My theory is that it was a test for Toby to see if he can really develop a game like Deltarune (kinda like how Temmie did with Escape Chasm and Dweller's Empty Path).

Fr, we are lucky than Toby is a goat, if he wasn't that great he could have thought it would be better to connect deltarune to undertale because of undertale's sucess, but it would be a terrible mistake, deltarune has to be its own thing, undertale was deltarune's draft and deltarune will be way better than undertale when all the chapters will release, it's already so cool while only 2 chapters on seven (if that's really the right number, it coule be even higher) are released, it will be truly a masterpiece of all time, undertale is already my favorite game but with what's toby cooking I'm sure undertale will not be first for long (just have to wait till chapters 3 and 4 release)

@@papyrusse. agreed man! the fact that deltarune can compete with undertale on which is the better game when deltarune has 2 chapters out of at least 7 is insane. it proves how good of a game deltarune is.

@@primess4434 I wouldn't say compete, in quality it competes (and maybe is even better) but in quantity it's still very weak compared to undertale, that's because there are only 2 chapters ofc, when the chapters 3 and 4 will release at the same Time (we hope it will in a few months) it will definitely have more content than deltarune tho, so it will be better at that moment...

Technically yes, but I believe that it'll become more like a sequel later in the story.

@@Mariko_8 I mean.. There are many things that don't align with Undertale's story right from the start, so it won't be any sort of a direct continuation, obviously. Maybe it'll grow into some alternative universe stuff, because Sans from both games seems to be the same person somehow (the "don't forget" photo) and also all this Gaster stuff... This way it won't be exactly a sequel nor prequel, unless some characters from Undertale make their way into Deltarune's world (or the other way..)
