So derma roller is very age-old device which is used by many people across as dermatologists and also by some patients. Now what is a derma roller? It's a handheld equipment. It has a small little drum like thing in the end which you roll on the skin. It has small little needles in it. The needles vary in sizes and when the sizes of the needle increase it's usually professionally managed. When the needles are of a very low size like 0.5 mm etc. people can also use it at home but I personally avoid using derma rollers because the amount of pressure, the sterility and the post care is something which people are not entirely aware of and there are chances of secondary infection. So use it with care. Now coming to what are the uses of a derma roller? Derma roller creates micro channels into the skin and it reaches the level where there is pinpoint areas of bleeding. So it indicates for me that it has reached the dermal level so when there is a channel into the dermal level you have certain products which can be applied and the efficacy of the product increases like if I use a derma roller for the hair and I'm going to use a mesotherapy product that is something which can penetrate so well and give desired results. So derma roller are also indicated in skin acne scars, in rejuvenation in the skin. So there are so many indications of it but please be educated on the sizes that you will use, on the quality, if it is really sterile and how your skin needs pre and post care. So this is something which I personally advise that a doctor should be performing on your skin because there is pinpoint areas of bleeding and it has to be managed in aesthetic sterile setup.
