He has the potential to be great. He still needs to work on his hands. There have been a few plays where he drops easy passes. I hope he stays healthy because he is an absolute beast.
Agreed. Still early but he definitely needs to take care of ball security. Also I dont think DK has the same jump ball and catch radius as Calvin. Again its still early. But for what I've seen in a season and a quarter. As a hawks fan, gonna have to live with DK with at least 1 drop a game.
T M that a big reason I feel his closet comparison is T.O. Owens was not known for great hands. He was big and fast. Punished DB’s with stiff arms. I just finished watching a ton of T.O highlights. And it really did look like I was watching Metcalf at times. Now attitude, that is night and day.
Physically speaking. Calvin is taller. They have the same speed. I think Calvin has quicker acceleration. Calvin is bugger. Dk is muscular. Calvin was actually bigger. Calvin had quicker deceleration. Dk stronger though. Can push off well and stack players amazingly.
His rookie season was better than Megatron's rookie season. He's also statistically on pace to have a better sophomore season than Megatron in TD receptions, yards per reception, total receiving yards and catch rate (EDIT: catch rate is about the same). He's an inch shorter, six pounds lighter and ran a 4.33 40 yard dash compared to Megatron's 4.35. So this is a very apt comparison and I think that Metcalf could meet or exceed Johnson' s production.
Megatron was double and triple teamed every single play and played with a trash scheme, trash coaching, and not the best qbs throwing to him and yet he completely destroyed opposing defenses. Nobody compares to Megatron
@@vincej603 Some of their routes and schemes may be vanilla, but Schotty and Wilson are adept at running the right play at the right time to exploit defensive tendencies, and they do a good job of using decoy routes to lure coverage away from the area of the field that Wilson wants to throw to.
That's a good point. Metcalf could potentially have better career production and success than Megatron, but even then you could make an argument that Johnson did almost as much while working with less.
well with the quarterback DK has he most definably has the chance to shatter Johnson's numbers, and then the excuse will be well megatron didn't have the caliber of Qb passing to him. Teams are going to have to start playing Dk different i guess he has not been playing long enough for teams to recognize that, but Also when you do that Wilson is to smart at recognizing and he'll just gash you some place else. Johnson was the only player on that team you really had to account for so you could throw 3 guys on him. You cant do that w/ the hawks
If you do a statistical comparison of the first two seasons of their respective careers, Metcalf had a better rookie season and is on pace to have a better sophomore season as well. Megatron played for 9 seasons and in 5 of those seasons he had fewer than 80 receptions so I think that DK could easily surpass Johnson's production if he is blessed with health and stays with Seattle and Russell Wilson.
D.K. is an awesome receiver and a better man. Barring injury, he will eclipse Calvin's numbers; after all he has Russ throwing to him. Just a matter of time...
Take the money the league has never seen a receiver like Megatron and I don’t think we’ll ever see one quite like him. He is the most physically gifted wide receiver of all time and it’s really not even a debate. We all know Moss was great, but in terms of physicality and dominance at their peeks I’d have to take Megatron. 3 corners couldn’t cover him and was constantly double teamed through most of his career. He had the speed of a receiver the size of Antonio brown, the strength of a tight end, and body control that was out of this world.
More like Julio, I’m not sure if we’ll see another Megatron for a long time. He broke the single season receiving record with broken fingers, that’s unreal if you ask me. Also DK has a better QB throwing him the ball, whereas Calvin didn’t get a healthy Stafford throwing to him until his fifth year in the league.
Megatron started putting up insane numbers in his 4th season, never going under 1000 yards and 10 TDs, I feel Metcalf will be the same. I also think Metcalf is more physical and stronger than Megatron, while I think megatron is the better route runner. Go Hawks!
Hey man saw your comment about the fire stick before the video got deleted. Does it have to be a cracked firestick or can you watch them on standard ones?
He is a Hall of Famer, top 5 WR all time but he was only 5’11, and wasn’t as fast as Megatron, Moss and Rice, although he did have better hands than Rice. To be fair though he did all he could without having an elite passer. Think of it this way, Johnson has the attributes, Moss has the attributes and Stats, Rice has the Attributes, Stats and Accomplishments, Largent just has Stats
@@Yolomanning18 Largent also did all that with no gloves, not good qb play and in a more run dominant league at the time. And Largent was the top WR until Rice broke his records, and just because he was small shouldn’t mean anything and if it does mean anything it should be more impressive
@@vgelco5884 if you’re choosing 1 Receiver for one play and it’s a Hail Mary play, I don’t think anybody is choosing Largent, but I also don’t think anybody is choosing Rice, but Rice is in my 🐐 status because he played more years than anybody has 3 rings and all the career stats
Patrick Peterson is drastically over rated/ I don't understand why he get's so much respect from the players, I think it's because he's a nice guy and likeable. He is good don't get me wrong but he get's a lot of respect for being a few tics above average... Doug Baldwin would consistently destroy him and Doug was considered just an okay wide out around the league. There is a lot of film out there of Peterson being torched by various guys
