I graduated from DMU's Leicester Business School in 1996 with a MSc. The greatest time of my life as a student, learning from the greatest Professors and Lecturers. Great choice!
As a current student some of the lecturers on my course are rubbish, they know a lot of stuff in their field but some of them can't convey that info in a way that is easy to learn!! As for nightlife, Mosh and Republic are the main clubs, they're decent but if you go too much it gets boring 😅. In regards to making friends that's pretty easy as long as you put yourself out there and don't hide away. I have friends on my course and am still friends with people I lived with in first year, among others. DMU isn't a bad uni, I'm enjoying my time and learning most of the information on my course (I tend to procrastinate which doesn't help). The facilities are decent and job prospects are much like anywhere else, if you put in the effort you'll get rewarded
I graduated from DMU (Leicester Poly) in 1981. I loved living and learning in Leicester. Made many great friends. Had a great and successful career in hospital management. You collect a degree and then it's down to you. Thankyou Leicester.
Definitely think they should do 1:1’s (mental health wise) daily or weekly. I think thats what lets the uni down if I am honest. Also for there to be options for those struggling with mental health as in where they feel comfortable studying and how - It is 2020 and they have achieved online lectures and study from home through the pandemic for it not to be an option.
The problem really lies in the change from former polytechnics in the 90s to university status. This created a marked divide in university status and reputation. The truth is the redbricks are still more respected for certain fields like law etc and there are better opportunities from emerging from these more established older institutions. I have a Demontfort degree in business management and a Master's from the University of London but the truth is the acceptance grades are indeed lower to enter De Montfort but that reduces its overall standing overall. I appreciate everything on this post but i've always felt a little embarrassed to be honest of De Montfort because of the perception within the market and I was glad to do my Master's afterwards. I studied there in the 90s back when Western Boulevard was boarded up before the Soar Point bar existed. Never felt proud of DMU sadly.
I graduated here in DMU. I suggest you not to stay at Newarke Point where is the worst dormitory I’ve ever experienced. The wall is as thin as a paper you can hear everything and every word of a room beside you. I reported the room beside me for 100 times but they cant even do anything except telling them to keep their voice down. So If you other options I kindly suggest you to avoid this Newarke Point.
Rick Ferguson bro i got an unconditional offer letter from DMU And im planning to stay in Birmingham, so is it a good idea to travel from Birmingham to DMU ?

I am thinking of picking DMU as a insurance choice. I live in birmingham so its an hour drive which isnt awful. So I would stay in the halls for the first year and then take the train in. I like the look of it. I am taking psychology which I understand is annoying to find jobs with but that is nothing new- its the same elsewhere. It is a very popular course though. I was thinking about getting a job in forensic psychology- psychology is such a hard field to get in to.
@@fluffyheeseung3811 haha i'm a psych first year now, and we've had our building taken by the forensic / med science students. we were supposed to be in hawtorn and portland but we were originally in vijay patel and now being slowly moved to hugh aston because of the issues with that 4th floor lecture hall xD cannot wait for a reset timetable, because it is a TRECK from any accommodation by king powers, especially on a football day XDD
Seriously considering to pursue my masters in journalism here at DMU, but really sitting on the fence after reading a fair bit of negative reviews on this uni and how it's a waste of dosh especially for the foreign students in terms of getting a job, please put me out of my misery.
@@srushtisuryawanshi9606 Hey, Srushti I have offer letter of DMU but confused wether to accept or not. Are you studying or studied at this university? If yes then how was your experience?
@@avijadhav8890 HA HA! I'm in exactly the same place. Although I'm a mature British student. REALLY not sure about pursuing a course at Leicester DMU. It's actually also the MA in journalism. LOL. Will you do it? The videos make the place look awful!!!
Jolly _95 sure, only got 8 contact hours a week (4 lectures 4 seminars) never offered a DMU global trip either though we did international relations. The dates of the stikes were messed up so had 3 weeks of stikes by mistake, lecture quality was poor, felt a lot like a GCSE lecture and the student Union nights were not as good as university of Leicester. This is a personal experience and I know it differs from corse to corse and person to person
@@bethpiatt9588 I am applying for Master's in "Data Analysis" in january intake and wanna get insight of the uni, their website only shows the pros of DMU. I think you are the best person to get that insight.. can we talk?
Hai, i got a unconditional offer letter from DMU and im planning to stay in Birmingham because my cousin is living there. So is it a good option to travel from Birmingham to DMU Regularly and will the travel expenses be very high?
Are you staying at your cousin's house for free? If yes, you could commute, but I don't recommend it. It's tiring, expensive and trains can be unreliable in terms of coming and departing on time.
Hi sister i am also applied in de montfort university please contact me on this number 8195959332 for the sone queries i am worried about my unconditional offer
Hey i am also choosing for the same reasons but i have heard getting psw after dmu is impossible as they fsil u intentionally? What is ypur opinion or how was your experience? I am comibg for MSc in pharmaceutical biotechnology
Why would you get an accommodation in Manchester or Reading if you want to study at DMU Leicester? You should get an accommodation in Leicester if you want to study at DMU
Students struggle to find a job with that degree. I know 3 people who graduated in Media and Communication and they don’t recommend it. However, if you have a lot of work experience and valuable skills, you should be fine. I suggest people to don’t rely on their degree only. Do a lot of work experience! Good luck with everything 💪🏽
I've got an offer letter from DMU for data analytics, conditional offer.. Condition is 2:2 British honours.. I have 52%, is that okay for me? Am i eligible?
DMU is a UK university so yes of course you can use your degree to find jobs in London. London is a larger cities and it’s the capital. I’m sure you’ll find something there after moving out from Leicester. And the salary in London are also higher!
Dear,as u have already reached to DMU,do u know or can u find somebody from performance practice MA course?i am also searching by myself, but as u live there so It'll be easy to u....I'm gonna join this course,i want somebody who has real experience on it?i mean what & how is actually taught here?can students get acting chance after completing this? & other necessary info. Those they think a fresher should know or it will be easy if i get some experienced body's contact info. to do it myself 🙂
@@Nepetita69696 well it's not a bad uni they just went against my wishes and put me with the worst kind of people, locked in with them. 9k a year for webcam sessions.
I will tell you something funnier - I applied for the lecturing position. Anyone studying medicine, healthcare, doing some research projects? How about facilities and labs?
