The "using a menu command" to walk up or down stairs wasn't an oversight - it was a set-up for a puzzle in the Dragonlord's castle. Those transitions are simple teleport flags that put you at a certain location in another map. The hardware and software were both capable of "teleport on touch." Note that the cave tiles didn't require you to use the menu to go into them. They _planned_ this!
To finish the Game and beat the Dragonlord, you need to be level 26. It's grindy, i finished it back in my teens, back in the day. I'm a French Canadian and , because of that game, I have used a translation dictionary for the first time. nowadays, I am fluent in English
@@overwhelmed-gamer there was an NPC in one northern village that was saying where was the Eldrick armor. I remember working hard to make a sense out of it with my dictionary and then , understood the riddle. And went to check, and found it. There was a big pride in that, I didn't know a word of English and still, managed to translate.
Play the GBC color version. They added quality of life updates to include 2-3x eperience and 2-3x gold (or more). Clay Golem gives 2500 xp. Stat boosters for strength, hp, defense, and mp are scattered throughout the game. Grinding reduced about 75%. I LOVED DW on NES in 89, but I will never play it again.
Are you hugely interested in playing the entire franchise in chronological order seeing where the franchise started? Then yes. Are you anyone else: No, play the remake when it comes out next year if anything at all.
I really thought I was going to play these in order, but already started 11. I am super interested in the remakes that are coming out for Switch though.
@@overwhelmed-gamer I am a psycho and am actually holding off on XI until I 100% every other game on Retro Acheivements. I'm just about to finish IV. See you in 3 years.
