After seeing his clean animations and interesting play potential anyone else feel like Ed should’ve been the rival to Luke not Jaime. 1. They debuted in the same game SF5. 2. Boxing Vs. MMA is so much more interesting and mirrors real martial arts in a way that Jaime’s break dancing/drinking just feels kind of …gimmicky? 3. The spiritual successor to Ryu and Guile vs the successor to Bison and Balrog. 4. Ed’s trajectory has this really interesting redemption arc for Balrog and Bison building that puts him in direct odds with the people Luke is most closely associated with. No disrespect to Jaime but him being Luke’s Rival or the new generation version of Ken always just felt like lip service, why? How? In what ways are they rivals? The answer just seems to be because the writers said so.
I have a feeling something bad has happened to neo-shadaloo, that’s why Ed is in the subway getting harassed, maybe he’s trying to fix neo-shadaloo and JP has something to do with it?
Ed's failed launch really shows how important design is for new characters. He looked so odd that he didn't resonate with new players, especially for someone who's supposed to play a big role narratively in future games. Take Rock Howard from Garou. He's only appeared in a few games but is still considered the future of the franchise with his great design and fun gameplay.
I honestly think there is some possibility that he becomes a badguy or neo shadaloo get twisted in someway, his theme and harsh lyrics about his mental state, his round win pose laughing like a maniac while psycho power appears from his chest, and the plot introduction from the playstation blog about the remnants of shadaloo planing something and needing his powers to pull it off, its what my intuition tells me lol.
I think everyone’s judging ed for the lack of him not being what people want him to be when it comes to being a good character in a fighting video game. and to me if you think that a character isn’t good by how they look or fight how would you know if you haven’t played the character for yourself and given him a try. In my opinion ed is a good fighter I liked him in 5 and I like him in street fighter 6 and if people haven’t given him a chance in 5 they will in 6 because how could you not they made good changes to him this time around so I wouldn’t see why people wouldn’t be interested in playing him a lot more compared to people having their own opinions on him in 5 everybody just needs to stop judging a book by it’s cover or a character by their image.
I hope if Balrog comes to SF6 as a character or a back story character 🙏 PLEASE let Balrog do something noble for change in the end let your pride go and be there Ed out of respect 🙏
@@alexspyro563 TBH I could see Claw as a playable down the line though. Dictator’s dead, Boxer’s kinda covered by Ed as well as more demanded characters like Tiffany Lords or Dudley.
Honestly since Ed came I kinda want balorg now. Think balorg and Ed have a pretty interesting connection that can push each other to goat status if done correctly
Just because Ed is in the game doesn’t mean jack shit in deterring Dudley’s chances of making it in. I promise you he’ll make it before any of my favorites make it in. If they even make it in at all lol
Honesty, it was just the loud haters. Ed has more fans than ppl think especially with the newer fans of Street Fighter. he definitely deserved another chance considering how important he is to the story and any character can make a second comeback
They really dropped the ball on him in 5, and he doesn’t suit the modern street theme of 6. There’s no way he’s coming back, and I don’t think even an Ed level glow up could save him if he did

There's even less to improve off of him than Necalli. with Necalli, because of the fact he got totally jobber'd out of SFV's story, he could get something like an A.K.I. treatment where a new character embodies his same archetype and fighting style. Rose's SFV story implied G is a villain who could bring about a true doomsday scenario unlike all the past SF antagonists. If another story arc for SF6 comes up that involves G revealing his true nature and becoming an even bigger threat to the world than a revived Shadaloo, then we could have a new Necalli-like character emerge who is the "real deal," unlike the Shadow Falls doomsday prophecy that Necalli came and went for like a wet fart of a harbinger.
Ed was never a boring character His concept & look is cool and he had so much sauce in sf v. And that’s looking to be more of the case here in sf 6. Ppl who say he was boring are boring themselves lol
How is it that Ed represents Germany with his flag being German and his theme song having its lyrics also in German if he was raised and trained by an American?
In my opinion for every season new story modes / world tour / arcade needs a mission so the story when finished can be replayed and easy to understand, like you can met A.K.I. after beating the Metro City novice league tournament? Plus bring back the og future generation.
I don't understand how with Ed's backstory, he didn't become the essential character for SF 6. He, in my honest opinion, should have been the new generation Ryu due to both of them fighting the darkness inside them (Hatsui No Hadou vs Bison's Psycho power.
Some people who call Ed boring probably praise and hype types like Honda and Blanka. Because nostalgic fans lack good sense and judgement ability when talking about these subjects.
Ed can't be the most boring as long as Luke is still around..lol. But, yeah I also thought he was boring in 5 character wise, but his new attitude and his even more "boxer style" has me very interested. The one character with zero soul in SF6 has to be Manon though, I mean....there's zero character development going on, her move set and play style is fine, but who's ever gonna say "I love Manon the character?"
So Ed's coming in like....another next Tuesday I think, and then, his story coming into a new era of Street Fighter 6. So 1st World Tour starts with Bosch, Juri and JP to talked about Shadaloo's and 2nd F.A.N.G. returns and also A.K.I. joined for her 1st time in Street Fighter series to talked about experimental subjects of Shadaloo. Well.......right now Ed's returned! And I feel like I wanna play with his NEXT story of Street Fighter 6. PLUS! For the DLC NEW stage of Street Fighter 6 is BRILLIANT! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I wish Capcom was able to move on from Shadoloo plot and Bison + Balrog, Vega and Sagat. Even if I don't support the total refreshing of the storyline and cast like it was done in SF3, that was one extreme approach, I don't support the other extreme which is this over attachment to the og bosses. It makes SF stories less respectable than other fg stories (which I also don't take seriously in general, but there's a hierarchy among them, and SF in in the lower tiers imo).
I'm going to make some bold predictions. I think for the first time in sf we will not be seeing the original 4 boss's. Nor do I think we will see much if any at all sf3 representation. If we do I think it will be under "guest pretenses", not for the main story and likely towards the end of sf6's lifespan. I predict Faulk will be DLC. Rose or Menat will be DLC. We will probably get at least one or two more characters that are new as DLC, similar to AKI. But no more than that. I think they introduced most of the new characters via main roster to save hype for old favorites. I think we will get at least one Final Fight character as DLC, probably Cody. I think Sakura will be DLC as our only female shoto. C. Viper will make a return as DLC. The one exception to the sf3 rule is Q. Q or G will make a return as DLC. Karin will be DLC. These are the only ones I personally think are guaranteed. My boldest prediction is we get Bison as DLC in the final year but he returns in a female body. And we get female Bison. Possible/maybe... I think Mike Haggar is possible as a hype end of season character similar to Akuma. He has been teased for years. The entire Final Fight crew is possible due to where most of world tour takes place. R. Mika is very possible DLC. Zangief does not mention her by name but does make a reference to her. One of the new characters we get could very well be the gorilla. Some sort of monster or beast like character is very likely. I mention it here because I just don't find the gorilla likely - will probably be someone/something entirely new. Seth (female) is possible. Elana is the only character besides Q from sf3 that I think has a chance. Because her fighting style is so unique in sf and her ult could have interesting interactions with drive gauge. If not Q or G a new character represented by a single letter. A lot of that banks on us getting DLC for at least 3-4 more years and the frequency of releases rises compared to only four in the first year. I'd like to see every character I mentioned + more. However, if it's only for another two - three years and the frequency does not rise and it's only 8 - 12 DLC characters. What a damn disappointment. Especially after the massive rosters we ended up with in sf4 and 5. If it does stay 4 a year, though, I retract what I said about the boss characters. They fit perfectly in this model and will have their own year, even if it's the final year of DLC.
Ed is a great character an became my instant main aside from Ken. Dude's gameplay in 5 had me consistently playing online matches at a far higher rate than I normally do when new games come out. In Sf6 his gameplay looks tobe the most intuitive fun on both the classic and modern controls side.
I bloody love his story. His emotional story with the boxer omg finally some dev on this dude. He was just some muscle boozer for hired. Who only cared about money. There's nothing wrong with that. But it was the same in every game 😅 it was a nice change. ED fighting style is godly awesome.
I love Ed and am thrilled he is back. 1st character I was hoping for because he doesn't play like any others. Please no Balrog. Fighting against him has never felt good.
The fact that I see them give him some of Dudley’s moves pisses me off. I think he has Dudley’s standing fierce and fire ball duck. I could be mistaken about that one but it looks like it. Season 2 better be a banger filled with the characters we want the most which are Dudley, Makoto and C.Viper are most voted. Having to wait 5 months between 2 characters because Capcom want to be cheap and not make a 6 pack dlc is insane in my opinion. 👀
Considering Rashid was one of them, him I’m not surprised with. I’m more shocked they’re giving Ed another go, he’s one of the last SFV newbies I would pick
SF5 really didn’t do Ed much justice, terrible playable character design, and a repeated plot point. His appearances in SF5’s cutscenes and such really makes me think Capcom really was trying to create their own Rock Howard. Instead they played way too safe and reused a concept that should’ve died after SF4 with Abel and Seth.
Should have been base roster cause there is no way in hell I'm giving capcom money for him. There are so many more interesting characters they could have brought back.
@@AnonymousC2218 I kind of agree but SFV was even worse. Capcom didn't learn their lesson after the backlash to SFxT's on-disc DLC, and released SFV too early. Both the story mode and season 1 characters ought to have been day 1 inclusions but they wanted the game out before that was all ready. SF6 feels a similar story DLC-wise, with a small launch roster and the first new additions being characters who felt like they should've been their from the start. Capcom is REALLY taking their time to make sure these characters live up to the high bar set on launch, Akuma is obviously the biggest draw and the wait for him is so long I don't know if he can really live up to the hype.

to be honest, lets all just admit it hes not cooler than Balrog or Dudley so its just kind of stupid and lackluster to have him exist. like, Menats lore makes sense because the story says shes a student of Roses's Falke is like...okay because at least she is her own ark type but throwing in another boxer to compete with the popularity of Balrog and Dudley just seems like a waste.
@@maikayee246 Nk, its not actually. I think Jamie is a wadted Yun and Yang, Kim could have been Guy and Lily should have been T Hawk. They are characters with the EXACT same personalities as the originals and just swapped for the sake of being swapped. Manon, JP, and Marisa are the only good new ads.
@@yourstillwithme Even then, I'm only fine with JP. Manon's style and design is lame, and Marisa, while her fighting style is cool, she's way too muscular, looks more man than woman. I think Muscular women can look good but that's not the way to do it. Only one I guess I'm OK with is Jamie and as I said JP. They really gotta step up their game with the new characters.
abel is the most boring street fighter character.(he's just a rip off of cammy that is uninteresting outside showing charlie was alive/another failed attempt at making a blond the main character of street fighter when juri & even c. viper where the focus.) ed to me is more on my least favorite 5 newcomers & would've picked g/laura/menat over him and really don't like the implication m. bison might return as he REALLY shouldn't(he should just be a nightmare geese esque bonus boss) but do like he gave depth to balrog becoming a father to him(there are emotional moments in street fighter more like mk doesn't have that many/is really hokey or tekken between 5-8.) when he was a dumber than rufus brute beforehand even in 5(he helped balrog take the chess piece as zangief would've kicked his ass beforehand.) that him reconciling in his arcade mode ending smiling while in a boxing match was a nice closure and him forming neo shadaloo is interesting seeing a group cleaning up shadaloo's destruction.(compared to resident evil's similar blue umbrella that both feels "why would you name it that?!" with how way horrible umbrella is and feeling like they really didn't know what to the with the story after prematurely killing wesker.) with how jp and f.a.n.g/a.k.i are going after ed would be cool seeing neo shadaloo wreck his base and him/balrog pummeling jp and f.a.n.g with how ed's definitely taking more off his dad now.(personally would love to see more of his dynamic with falke who outside a few areas just feels like his partner/a way to show the remains of m. bison's essence being destroyed.)

I'm glad they gave him a second chance but I wish they had this design philosophy for him the first time around. I would've actually been interested in playing him if he was a pure boxer. I've never liked Rog and Dudley wasn't in 5, so I just played Alex and Gill till I was bored lol
I liked the video, but being entirely honest, the title feels like complete and utter clickbait. There isn't a single portion of the video that alluded to any sort of discussion about Ed being "boring". Still liked the video, tho.

5:26 Balrog are more crying than screaming. It was a surprise cuz the image i have from him is a crud and greedy guy but he can be nice with peoples. Falke are kinda sexy Feel kinda bad for Ken who turn into a punching-bag with Ed's new ultimate move. Hope in the DLC Year 2 Balrog will return

IMO he's more interesting than any of the new SF6 characters just off fighting style and design alone, that's for sure. SF6 has really dropped the ball with their new characters, being "meh" at best. I have found at least one newcomer in every Street Fighter game to be cool, can't say the same for 6.
Dudley will come back. Ed being in the game doesn’t mean anything since they don’t play the same. He has much better shot at coming back than any of my favorites. Also Ed is a great addition regardless
