Nice vlog guys 🙂 As for the sometimes hidden narrative, where the Disney branded parks tend to feed you imagination, De Efteling often gives you the ingredients and let your imagination create the complete experience. It's a more open approach to storytelling (which i personally like a lot). It makes the attractions infinitely re-rideable, changing meaning and trigger different emotions as you as a visitor change through life.
@@NationalCoasters ablosutly agree with that assesments its me homepark and its a bit lacking in the Thrill department. I don't want it to excell in it. It isn't that kind of park but they should improve a bit in it in my opnion. 1 or 2 decent extreme coasters would do the trick Baron looks nice but coasterwise its a bit lacking and Python is a 50 year old design. Thats unworthy for a toppark like efteling ,now the park doesn't need an elite coaster (wouldn't mind if they got one but only one) but 1 or 2 just below that level would be nice.
@@arturobianco848 They really need an Intamin Blitz / multi launch. We don't have that one yet in the Netherlands and Efteling could really rival or outdo Taron. Just this one Intamin Multi Lauch would complete their lineup imo.
I can understand that some things went over your head because of cultural differences. And you haven’t even strolled through the fairy tale forest (things get weird there!). One thing is important to remember: Efteling are story tellers. Everything is secondary to the stories. Their rides are not ‘the tallest’ or ‘the fastest’. That’s for other parks. This park tells stories, but you have to know them, of course. If you look closely, you can find a recap of every story at the attraction, also in English. (Example: De Vliegende Hollander/The Flying Dutchman. It tells the story of captain van der Decken, who has a secret stash of gold under his mansion, and an escape tunnel that leads via the seedy Inn to the harbor. He set sail on the holy day of Easter even though he was warned that he would be cursed. But his greed and the promised riches got the better of him and he ignored the warnings. Now he must sail the high seas for eternity.
Wow. That is awesome. I am one to appreciate a good theme, I'll have to do some more research next time. That is friggin' cool! Thanks for the comment!
This is where Walt Disney got it's inspiration to open his Disneyland parks. And yes, Efteling gives the name THEMEpark it's justice. Family friendly park with a few short intense rides which cannot be compared to a Walibi park. I guess the only thrillride that is not themed is the Python. Vogel Rok is part of the story of the world of Sinbad, not long time ago the ride Sirocco is added in the Efteling and i dont know if it is finished or not, the area will be/is in Sinbad the Sailor theme. Haven't been at this park for a few years. Love your vlogs and followed you since a few weeks, nice to see you went to the park i love most here in NL.
Hey Chris! Thank you so much for the comment and recent support! I'm learning more and more that Efteling has a deep and rich history! This is super cool!
@@NationalCoastersthe head moved up from side to side the and up and down mouth open an closed an when the head was straight up it even spit a huge fireball out of its mouth, was really cool while it worked.
As addition to@@jotimmermans8349 : Since Efteling likes to push limits they probably made a few poor choices (materials and joints, maybe tech behind it all...) that couldn't handle the stresses it endures -combine that with being outdoor in a rain prone country Joris en de Draak (George and the Dragon) used to be only wood, but they made it hybrid when some parts of the track started catching fire from the friction the cars created Oh, most Attractions have a Big wooden 'book' on a pedestal nearby explaining the story in a few highlights of the complete story (usually based on Bros. Grimm or Hans Christian Andersen version, stories Disney etc. gave their own twist, Symbolica, Baron 1898, Droomvlucht and Volk van Laaf -the village with monorail are stories/myths as Efteling sees them/made up, Rides like Villa Volta and De Vliegende Hollander (Flying Dutchman) find their base in myths and the all new Danse Macabre is their 2.0 version of the Spookslot (Haunted Castle) that used to be there is a story/myth with typical ghost story elements -opening this Halloween, Oct. 31st)
foot note, even if they even fix the Dragon, it won't spout flames anymore, as the Efteling wants to drop it's reliance on gas (Climate Neutral by 2030, Climate Positive by 2032)
You did pretty well for a first time visit it really is a 2 days park for your first visit if you wanna sort of do it all in a normale pace. Sorry that the park looks really bad this this Year with all the construction. As for Dream flight, you ever had a dream that overall really made sence? i don't and this is efteling interpretation of it. Nice to see a coaster lover enjoying himself so much in this park. Its me homepark and i have to say the Thrill department isn't great in this park everything else is right there in the top of themepark industry (yes universale and disney can build on a bigger scale with the money behind them. But overall i'm more impressed with parks like efteling that do it drom a relative tiney budget compaired to those). Well i hope you enjoyed ride to happeyness as much as i did look forward to your take on it.
Hey my friend! Thank you so much for the comment! Yes! I’m learning to appreciate all aspects of themed entertainment, not just coasters. Efteling was amazing!
Port adventura should be on the list because of how it looks and the attractions they have. Unfortunatly the operationpolicy's are so bad it's not even in my top 10 of favorite themeparks in europe.
Droomvlucht - "Dreamflight" is just a flight through beautiful dreams. Fata Morgana - You start at the forbidden jungle and try to enter the forbidden city by the wizard, but at the end of the ride, all was just a Fata Morgana, a dream, so you also end in the forbidden jungle. - Villa Volta is about "The Curse of the Bokkenrijders Gilde" a local ledgend - Baron 1898 is about the cursed mist from the Dutch mines called "Witte Wieven" or "White Woman" - Vliegende Hollander is about the Dutch version of "The Flying Dutchman" - Carnaval Festival - A it's a small world type ride with doombuggies, that is portraying the Dutch Carnaval street parade style cartoonish wagons. - Vogel Rok - is about Sinbad's Vogel Rok bird. - Joris en de Draak = George and the Dragon - Symbolica: No story, just a tour through the castle of the parks mascot. Hope this clears a few things up.
@@NationalCoasters Efteling's Dance Macabre is a simulator (Intamin Dynamic Motion Stage) with animatronics instead of screens. (€10.000.000 over budget, from €25.000.000 to €35.000.000 for just one darkride) And a prototype Intamin. It is opening up in 2 weeks (31 of October) and the story goes that a whole symphonic orchestra has gone missing while playing Dance Macabre in a haunted chapel, led by a Orchestra director from the Charlatan family if I got everything correctly. But the queue is full of interactive elements and the outside theming is outstanding. So I will be back for the 4th time this year very soon. (I live 90 mins from the park, 2 hours from Toverland, 3 hours from Phantasialand and 90 mins from Plopsa De Panne so I consider myself lucky.)
The things hanging from the ceiling in the first room in Baron 1898 are jackets. Changing rooms in mines (at least some german ones) had the jackets hanging on wires from the ceiling. The miners could get their jackets by lowering the wire their jacket was hanging on. I believe this was done because miners would often ome back soaking wet from their shift and this way they would dry faster.
5:40 I go to the efteling as a dutch person a lot and the theming of the Baron 1898 is mine workers, and mine workers there had to dig up gold from the mine shaft of the ride Baron 1898 there is also a small movie of the Baron 1898 on youtube which you can watch to understand the ride more, but those are the dirty clothes of the mine workers there, which are called "Kompels" in dutch.
Great vlog jesiah. Nice to see your family with you. I hope you had a great time at the park and i can't wait to see you, marc, and antonio at a park again. Have you guys ever been to the theme park in new jersey? If not, i highly recommend going on the shredder ( it's a teenage mutant ninja turtle roller-coaster) and also the sandy blaster . The park is indoors in the mall. I hope you have an awesome day and sending love ❤and hugs 🫂 also congratulations on your 500 Rollercoaster. 🎉🎉🎉🎉 you should be proud of yourself because i sure am proud of you. at 2:45 you see a new attraction called danse macabre(dance of death) made by intamin. it opens to the public in 10 days..shall I give you a link? to see what it's like
@@NationalCoasters You might want to go to the Eftelings RU-vid channel and watch some of the amazing Making Of series (Eng subs) there are a few attractions you can see how they build it and some of the stories behind them, great material for reaction vids or learning more about the rides and what makes the Efteling so.... lovable...

@@NationalCoasters I love python to bits tbf. CSM have done such a good job retracking it and the Vekoma vest restraints were definitely a good call replacing the kumbak ones
@@NationalCoasters almost 500 coasters to go, by the time you almost reach 1000 the menu will look different, so dont think about that and enjoy all the rides you can do.
Loved the energy of getting credit 500😄🎢Congratulations! I’ll be really happy when I finally get to 100 lol And your dad is so awesome that he rides coasters with you, it’d be a miracle to get my dad back on a super intense one😂😂
