Thank for watching everyone, this was a big one I've wanted to make for a long time now and definitely felt the pressure to make this a good quality video so if you did enjoy it a Like or Comment would mean a lot, hoping to have this reach as many people as possible so your interaction really helps with achieving that goal
FFX is the game that helped me break out of my shell and begin to explore the things i personally love. I grew up in a hood around tons of gangs both in and out of family. Liking these kinds of games were almost taboo because of how much flak and stuff you'll get from friends and family. I just was sick of always being around fights, drama, and sleepless nights i started playing games like GTA, Fighting games. Only "hood" games. But once i exhausted those I was given FFX from a school friend because he said it sucked. I was always home alone so once i popped this game in, instantly i was hooked after the first time in Zanarkand. That friday when i went back home to be alone for more or less through the whole weekend when family left on a trip i spent the entire time heating up ramen and playing FFX late into the night, through the whole weekend. I'll never forget FFX that was one of the first games where i truly immersed myself in a fantasy, and when i learned i was into goth chicks, ty lulu. This game will always have a special place in my soul.
Don't worry guys, similiar history here, most of those people who used to bash on me for playing these games, are now in prison, dead or major drug addicts. So who's the lame people now? One Love.
Dude ramen and final fantasy X totally explains my summer of 2003 when I found this game. Literally the only RPG I've ever played and loved cuz like you games was never an ok thing how I grew up unless it was madden or need for speed. Haven't had a console for 6 years and just bought my son a PS5 and what's the first game I buy? FFX remaster for ps4 haha
It’s probably more people’s favourite than any other.. It’s hands down the best FF game ever made if you look at them just as games in terms of how good a game they are, gameplay, story, soundtrack, world building etc.. No other FF comes close.. But people have their favourites of course and will feel certain ways about each one.. Still, hands down the best, almost perfect
same, i have watched so many ff game reviews leading up to the release of ffxvi, haha. ffx is my personal favorite, as well, and most people i've seen rank it in their top 3 or 4 along with ffvi, ffvii, and ffix
When this game came out I was Rikku's age (14), I just played it again recently now that I am Auron's age (35). This game has aged far better than I have, still has my favorite turn based fighting mechanics and still the most fun leveling system of any game I've played.
Ditto this. Im 39 this year. FFX was my first Final Fantasy and is still my favorite. I played 7 and 8 and tried to play 9 afterward. Great games, but Squall and Cloud were the same brooding character, a common trope (Auron is similar). I liked that Tidus wasn't perfect or that annoying "walking into the wind" character. His goofy ass grows and he shows flaws (he cried more than once). The only character I didn't enjoy was the Ronso. Also, I dodged 200 lightning bolts...
21 years..? 21 years... It's kinda emotional thinking that all of us who played the game on release, we've all grown up and living our own lives and stories. But equally not all of us made it, a best mate of mine adored this game, like it was his thing. He ended up losing his battle to depression. Time stopped for him, but for the rest of us, we've all had to grow up. 21 fkn years...
I got it for Christmas after it came out. I remember not having a memory card at the time, but I wanted to play so bad I just left on my ps2 and eventually got a memory card.
Final Fantasy of all time. Played this game for the first time at the beginning of this year and I already feel like I want to replay it.. Tidus and Yuna just can't escape my mind. Great video btw!
My favorite jRPG, played it 20 years ago in a difficult moment in my life. I really have fond memories of it, love its characters and world, they are well designed and engaging. i remember as a kid that i had a crush on Yuna.
The cutscenes in this are amazing for it's time. When Yuna does the first sending after the island village is decimated it was extremely emotional. The story was amazing and I really appreciate your take on this. Thank you for this review!
The cutscenes are still amazing even by modern standards. Full mo-cap with genuinely good acting and voice acting is something that's still surprisingly rare. And yes, we do know that it's full mo-cap, because of boundary break discovering that many in-engine cutscenes actually extend beyond the camera's perspective, which pretty much straight up would never happen with non mocap.
FFX will always be my favorite in the franchise. You definitely did this video justice in the way you presented it. Please keep up the good work. Can you do KH 1&2?
Only game that I ever cried at. Every detail about this game is transporting, and if you play it during a pivotal point in your own development you will may get dangerously close to ending it all out of the despair you feel for the fact that you have to leave this world and come back to reality. The game is pure power, poetry, passion. A true masterpiece from a long lost era in game development. Be ready to play one of, if not the best, game ever created. And I don’t stake that claim lightly. Praise be to Yevon.
Not to be disrespectful, but if this was the only game you cried at, you have not played many games. Don't get me wrong, this game will *absolutely* do that, but expanding your game catalog will show you there are quite a few others as well.
@@jacksquatt6082 its also the only game I have cried at, and I have played alot of games. Some people don't cry as easily as you, so don't make assumptions like that.
@@moonflow5133 I'm just saying there are some really emotionally impactful games out there. The Last of Us and Disco Elysium are two that immediately jump to mind.
From the title: THIS AINT A QUESTION! its always worth it. Played possibly ten times through eversince its release, last time this year....ohmy, what banger of a game. Thank you for the video🙌
I play it literally to this very day. I've played COUNTLESS hours on my PS2, PS3, and PS$4. There is so much late game content to keep you busy and leveling up, the character development is enriching, story has twists and turns and making you feel such anger and sadness at times. I love this game, my favorite FF and my favorite game period.
There are two things i like to bring up about the hallway concept here. Number 1, treasures aren't shown on ff10 map, so when you're exploring any slightly small path, the reward is a surprise, where in ff13 you can quickly learn to avoid branching paths if you know there is nothings. Second in ff10 the hallway design is filled with things to interact with. as you progress, there are less and less people, and things that are interesting which reflects the progression of the story. in ff13, the hallways really are hallways, there is almost never anyone to talk to, never a point of interest, just background. (very pretty background in ff13)
FFX's story is truly a profound tale of self-discovery for each of the characters. Yuna remains the highlight but each person gets enough narrative that by the end they've grown dramatically. Wakka letting go of his racism, Lulu moves on from her failures as a guardian and losing her previous love, Kimahri discovering his Ronso pride, Auron fulfilling his friend's wishes, and Rikku stopping to try and control those she loves. I really didn't like how the sequels kinda undermined the final speech given by Yuna. That sacrifice is necessary for change and despite losing many the memories will live on through those who survive. A positive take opposed to Yu Yevon, creating a dream from its memories that would never die leading to more suffering.
Im always enjoying to listen to your FF videos, because it is always exciting to watch them. Im very glad that you are making these kinds of videos. Im really enjoying them. Im waiting for the next parts of the FF games. Thank u for u time and videos
This is my favorite game ever. It is my first game ever. I’ve beaten it well over 20 times literally, and I still have the itch to go back to it. This year, I finally beat Penance after finding out of his existance 20 years ago. I had the longest lasting blood feud with the idea of fighting it, and after two days of straight calculated grinding, I made my way up to it and beat him fair and square (aka no Yojimbo). That 2 hour fight with the feeling of completion left me sleeping like a baby.
The one thing that made me really love FFX is that it focuses on a theme that’s kind of niche in video games; religion. Its not just present through visuals but it’s heavily involved in the game. The criticisms of it and how the world depends on it. Its really interesting and I don’t think I’ve seen many games that has this much religious themes in it.
This is my favorite in the series as well. Favorite cast of characters, favorite mini-game (love Blitzball!), and favorite story. Did hate some of the mechanics, though (dodging lightning, butterfly chase, and chocobo race).
Lately, I’ve been finding myself looking for a game to really slip into again. I’ve finished any recent release that grabbed my attention and didn’t really know where to go next. I don’t really have a deep-seated emotional connection to FFX like I do with 7, so I was on the fence regarding whether or not I should try this entry. Anyways, thank you for tipping the scales for me, just got Ifrit👍
I played this almost 2 years ago I was exactly tidus’s age (17) I had recently moved from a house I had lived in since I was 8 so I was home sick like tidus was at the beginning of the game then as tidus learned to accept and embrace his new surroundings I started to embrace my surroundings in my own life, and that’s only one of a million things I learned from this game.
I love Final Fantasy X. I hope you consider covering Final Fantasy X-2 as well! I love that game too, but I think it has a mixed reception. Great video!
@28:37, you are objectively wrong, Blitzball is the greatest minigame in FF history! 😂 In all seriousness, great review. I love Blitzball, but I understand it's not for everyone. The video is great and I appreciated your point of view! (I am trying to be as emphatic as possible that I'm joking in my first sentence, in case it doesn't come across in text).
I played elden ring, skyrim, battle royales, uncharted, far cry, metal gear, and nany other of the big boys in gaming, but the hard truth is that FF10 is one of my favorite games in history. It is actually one of the beat games created and this was back just when the PS2 came out. The leveling up system with the aphere grid is one of the most genious ways to skill up in gaming, and nothing has beat it since. If you havent try it, just way for that opening scene to hit you in the face.
Final fantasy X is my third favourite final fantasy game just behind final fantasy IX for me. I love the world of FFX and the cast thy it had to offer. Yuna is my favourite character in the game and her struggles of being a summoner is heart touching. It’s a very good game.
I'm going to need to give this another shot at some point. I always hear people talking about how great it was. I played it back around release, and it never captured me the way 7, 8, and later 6 did. But I wonder if that's because I had been playing almost exclusively JRPGs for about four or five years at that point and I was just burned out on the genre.
I played this game as a kid on the PS2 but never finished it. When I picked up the remaster on PC I immediately fell in love with it again, the music, the setting ,and the story were all amazing. That intro To Zanarkand was one of the most amazing tracks I've heard from any game. If you're on the edge of buying and playing FFX do it it's well worth the money.
I used to say that this was my all time favorite game ever since I played it around its release in 2001. I've beaten this game about 5 or 6 times over the years. It still is a great game, but I've exhausted the fun out of it amidst the journey to get the platinum trophy for it on ps4 last year. By the time I got to penance, i didn't care anymore and I used Zanmato for the first time ever in my playthrough. Then the farming for all of the stat spheres and filling the sphere grid with each character 100%, getting everyone to 99,999hp (didn't get hp break limit with everyone though). I almost decided to make everybody have 200 Luck (I got a few characters up to about 200 luck) but I said screw that, cleared them off the sphere grid with clear spheres after i beat penance, and replaced them with magic defense spheres from One-Eye. Oh, the monster hunting was fun while it lasted. Nothing beats the tediousness of having to get that sphere grid 100% though.
FFX has a special place in my heart. Doomed love stories just get me every time and it's a perfect one. The sound track is a 10/10 I regularly just listen to the whole thing top to bottom no bad songs. It's got its quirks and imperfections but what game doesn't? I don't know if I'll ever have a game effect me emotionally like the end of FFX did. Even though I wanted Tidus to end up with Rikku and Lulu made young teenage me feel odd things the story was so good it made me care about Yuna even though she was my 3rd favorite lol.
This is one of my favourite Final Fantasy titles. I must admit I am disappointed that the remaster did not add the ability to skip cutscenes as it would have been a huge and presumably easy QOL feature to add. The mini games are absolutely abysmal and reek of the early 00s mini game saturation wave that took developers by storm. All that said, it’s still a solid entry in the franchise, perhaps my favourite FF story and overall a worthy experience. Modern gamers who didn’t experience it first go around will definitely take issue with camera angles and the sheer amount of puzzles/mini games this game throws at you but it’s still worth experiencing at least once. I will be looking forward to your thoughts on Crisis Core Reunion after you play. My most anticipated title for quite some time now.
Best turn based combat in the series hands down. Story and characters are great too. OST is great, setting is great, lore is great. Absolute JRPG must play. Would honestly recommend it over VII for newcomers
The first time I played this game, I didn't clilck with the gameplay. It felt extremely tedious to me and the idea of constantly changing party members so everyone can get exp from battle was extremely annoying to me. But it is a game with a great story, one I continued watching on youtube because I was engaged, despite my frustrations with the gameplay.
normally i dislike the mini games but i loved blitzball i played it so muched i forget i need to finish the maiin story hahaha always have brother (riku's brother)in my blitz team he is the best
Ive waited to play X because its one of the most hyped behind VII. X2 not X-2 is my favorite. 7 was high tier but didnt hit the way I was expecting. I love X so much because of the mage classes.
You nailed it my fav ff game, I just want to ask would it be possible for you to make a more in depth video about this game? I could listen for hours when it comes to ffx honestly
I was just a kid when this came out, I some how managed to beat the game without Anema and not really understand it fully until I reached Sin/Yu Yevon 😄
I really enjoy the combat in this game because every option you have is useful in one way or another, especially if you liberally use Scan to figure out immunities and all that I've had a bunch of cases where I figured to try some farfetched idea only for it to work SO well in my favor that I wondered "Why didn't I think of this before?" (Provoke, anyone? 😃) I definitely recommend anyone play this and just mess around in fights while taking in the story because both is just so enjoyable to go through. Some aspects may not be THE best, but I also think the majority of issues don't drag the experience down enough to make it end up bad, at least to me personally Really the only thing I can say I absolutely despise is the forced Blitzball game against the Luca Goers and that's only if you actually DO want the +4 Strength Sphere because beyond that point you can just ignore that minigame entirely
First Final Fantasy I ever played was FF3 (really 6) on SNES. It is still very special to me. FF7 of course came on PS1 and its FF7. Really nothing else needs to be said about the game and how awesome it was for me. FF8 I played considerably, but never held it as high as 6 and 7. FF9, I honestly did not jive with like most people. To this day, even after replaying it when it released on the PS4 store, I just think it's ok. Despite all of this, FFX still has the absolute highest level of nostalgia hit for me. It is really hard to say why, but it just does. I remember going to GameStop in our mall with my Mom the release date evening, and being so hyped. I stayed up so late playing through that intro with Tidus and Rikku. Something about that moment just gets me every single time I think about this game. When I played the HD remasters, all of that came back. That was when I released the nostalgia with X was the highest for me as I recalled that moment again. I remember all the time I spent in Spira, and I couldn't believe how great of a world Spira felt to come back to. The worlds in most all FFs are great, but something about Spira is just special.
Anyone who considers themselves a fan of the series should play this entry. It is that good. Also, something I don't think enough folks talk about is the sheer amount of CONTENT in this entry. Blitzball, if you decide to really sink into it, is a whole game by itself! The capture monster mechanic as well is so in depth. I wish more JRPGs used that mechanic. Don't even get me started on the optional Aeons and what you gotta do to get them. Need I bring up the Dark Aeons in the Remaster/International versions? The story is also magnificent. I consider it arguably the best story in the series, with FFXIV and FFIV being right there too. Battle system? Flawless. The English voice acting may not have aged the best, but it is STILL good! (Honestly the Japanese VA work is a bit odd at first but good!) And the Sphere Grid!!! Literally one of the best level up mechanics in ANY JRPG, not just the series. Why haven't more games ripped off on it?! I won't start on the music. VII and other entries have arguably more iconic tracks, but this entry has my personal favorite soundtrack of the series.
After Yuna's fate is revealed, you can really feel how every step the characters take towards their destination is harder than the last. I really liked that.
I've been playing it again on my Switch Lite, but sadly, yesterday, my Mini SD Card died spontaneously, so I cannot play anymore until I get a new one.
This game has been my favorite game of all time for 19 years now. I originally played it at 12 years old (2001) and while I do think it’s definitely still worth playing. I do wish it would either get a TRUE sequel (not that FFX-2 crap), or get a Remake treatment like FFVII. Because now after playing FFVII with its amazing combat and gameplay, and FFXVI looking even slightly better than that!!! I don’t think I could ever go back to turn based.
HONESTLY? I adore FFX2 skjskjsks Idk its like good bad game. Again everyone have different opinions about it but I love the soundtrack and the continuity from the FFX where Yuna finally gets chance to live her life as a true mc. So even tho its bit weird to control or play with it, I love the ending and secret stuff around it. Its also rly hard to play it if u want to pull up full 100% out of it. We truly dont need better sequel because that one is already fine, ofc not as good as FFX. But I def agree, this game needs remake ASAP, It would be so good for new generations to try to play this game but like with better graphics. Even tho I love combat games, turn based games I still pretty much adore solely cuz I love seeing differenty type of battles in each game. So Idc what kind of battle system we will get, as long as they make FFX remake with all the maps being expanded and added lore about his father and Yunas father as well, I will be atn peace- and if they make blitzball rly rly interesting
I'm not a gamer I haven't owned a console in about 10-15 years but I did complete final fantasy X when it originally came out and it was my all time favourite game the story line really got me hooked far more than any movie ever has.
Ffx is my favorite of the whole frnachise... The combat, the story, everything. It even has replayability because it has two spgere grids in it. And so many possibilities for challenges... That in all honesty could be fun.
This game man.... Is the best game ever created. It will have a place in my heart forever! The soundtrack absolutely slaps as well! Anyone who knows this game well and had played multiple times, I really recommend you do a NSG playthrough (no sphere grid). It really makes you think about the way you have to play, in a totally unique way. Great video man, I could watch FFX videos all day! Also y'all should check out Dansg08, FFX OG
I tried it last year and felt it so slow and couldn’t get into the story before it gets good (I trust it does even if I don’t know, just based on what most people said.
Yeah it is very slow. You need a lot of patience and investment or will power to get towards the middle when it gets good. The gameplay (minus the turn based battle system) and the map along with straight line walking takes the piss out of the game. I honestly ended up liking Seymour so much cause of how different and obtuse he was compared to everyone. It's not worth it if you know the story and have played already recently. If you haven't played it since your youth then yeah play it once and leave it alone
Watched this video as im grinding to finsih the final bosses of the end game the dark Aeons and what not. Very good review i could see how u ddint like blitzball and the temple's 🛕 . I like blitzball and didnt even go for wakkas final wep cus 4 or 5 hours of blitzball seems like a bit much in 2023 LOL
Thanks for this for some reason I never played this game, played 7/8/9 in their time.Presume life got in the way at the time as to why didn’t play.Anyway am going to give it a go in the next few days.
If I were to introduce anyone to the Final Fantasy series, I would give them FFX. Even if you aren’t a fan of turn based combat, the story line sucks you in and will have you come back for years to come. This is easily one of the best games of all time. 💜
Well put-together and well thought-out video. While I’m still not convinced that 10 is among the best of the series, the game is still quite fun and is definitely worth playing. I appreciate your bi-partisan approach on making this. Excellent work
This game is worth it in any Decade 😅 ive brought ffx 5 times lol if they never made a hd remaster i would be digging out a ps2 just so i could play again. I bought it on Ps2 twice, Ps3, xbox one and now for my switch so i can walk around with my face in spira 😂😂 I Love this game, hands down the best Final Fantasy!!!!
I liked the Summon system in 10. I would like to see a hybrid of that and FF7 remake where their jot used it very limited situations. 10 was a huge love of mine and im hoping with 16 Summons can be more used or atleast be able to use them more at will because for me its one of my favorite part of Final Fantasy games.
While I love the story, this game really shines in the post game in my opinion, really the majority of the final fantasy series is like this and it’s one of my favorite attributes of the series
I was a kid when I play FFX in PS2. The moment the story tell that the High Priest need to sacrifice one of His/Her Guardian I was troubled because I don't want anyone to be killed and become new Sin. I was emotional during that time. Truly the last 10 hours was the most heart heavy game that I played at the same time I want to kill the Original Sin. Nice content by the way.
I'm glad to see this review as I didn't understand why it was so cheap compared to many of the other games in this franchise... i started at 9 just last week and it's really fun I'm kind of sad I never tried these games when I was a child.
I'm at the end of FFX and I'm about to fight Sin but I'm not sure if I should go in or grind some more.. But I have no idea the best way to grind! I just want to finish my backlog 😭
