Most people either do not understand the power of compound interest, or are just impatient. For the average Joe, however. I think it is just best to invest in the S&P 500, and just wait, which is reliable, albeit extremely long-lots of years. Or just use a professional analyst and speed up wealth creation. Most people underestimate the power of the latter
@SamuelIlari
@SamuelIlari 2 месяца назад
You're absolutely right about the power of compound interest and the long-term potential of investing in index funds like the S&P 500. For many, passive investing in broadly diversified funds can be a reliable strategy over time.

Employing a professional financial analyst or advisor can certainly add value by offering tailored advice, portfolio diversification, risk management, and timely insights. Their expertise can potentially speed up wealth creation and navigate market complexities, but it's important to choose someone reputable and consider their fees, as they can impact your overall returns.

BRICS seeks to create a new currency, considering gold's historical role as a store of value and medium of exchange. However, the functionality and acceptance of a gold-backed currency in the current global financial system are uncertain. Creating a new currency requires careful consideration of economic, political, and logistical factors.

Also some of the Finance degree Hours at a firm are insane. Divorce and poor personal meaning scores are low in the field. I would never be one to say "money isn't always worth it" (as long as the morals of the money we are talking about are legit). But it is worth thinking about the work life balance you want. Finance in some ways is the antithesis of being a doctor. All the same hours and lots of money for the right candidate, but none of the ethical or moral prestige that doctors get to stand on most of the day. The only slight differences are the knowledge requirement (4 years at a target school with outstanding grades).

Also, the highest paying entry level finance job is investment banking. Including a standard bonus as well as base you can easily make $140,000 in your first year with upside to double it within a few years. You’ll have to grind like crazy on the hours side of things but it’s the most lucrative (and competitive) finance gig out of undergrad (assuming you’re not a genius quant and that PE / VC / HFs aren’t recruiting much out of undergrad)

For the longest time, my parents have pushed me so hard to get into nursing. According to them, the medical field is really the only thing worth getting educated in. I did some pre-reqs, but I just didn’t feel passionate about it. My heart does not lie in nursing. After being accepted into the program, asking for a deferral, and having it granted to me, only to call back the next year, and being told that they will no longer honor my deferral because of changes made to the program, I just took it as a sign. Something about finance, just feels right to me. I was scared to take the risk, but this made me feel so much better about it. I’m going to change my major when I enroll back in school. Thank you for this informative video, and giving me to push I needed to follow my own path.

Econ & Finance double major here. I honestly couldn’t find an entry level job in my field. The only ones that would give me a chance would basically just be in sales, which anyone can get into, plus I hate being a salesman, I was hoping for something more on the analytics side of it, but ultimately ended up settling with being a paralegal, which I’ve been doing for about 5 years. Currently researching whether I should move forward with law school, getting an mba, or making up the courses I need to get an accounting degree. I wouldn’t say Finance was a waste though. It gave me the knowledge and confidence to take advantage of the covid dip and getting out in time as soon as I heard the Fed was raising interest rates this year, and made about a 60% ROI as a result. Just went back into investing recently, so I’m probably among the relative few this time around in the green zone, but it’s still disappointing that I couldn’t get an actual position with it

@JackDaniels-ee1fo
@JackDaniels-ee1fo Год назад
@@kira-lm6yy Sorry, I thought I had posted a response, but I’m not seeing it on my end, so I’m basically retyping it. Ignore this if you did see my first one tho, youtube is weird sometimes lol. Finance is just over saturated. There aren’t really many entry level jobs around for the amount of people graduating with that major, so whenever one opens up, you have an overwhelming amount of competition. Economics also doesn’t really teach you a skill set that people would be willing to pay for, unless you go all the way to a PhD and become a professor. Accounting is honestly the way to go imo. It’s a complete contrast. There is a shortage of accountants rn, so you can easily land a paid internship or part time as you study. Even the big 4 are pretty accessible to work with this time around. There is plenty of flexibility due to the number of things an accountant could do: Forensic accounting, managerial accounting, financial accounting, auditing, controlling, cost management, and even finance jobs like financial analyst. So I would do finance + accounting as opposed to finance + econ. It’s just more practical, but accounting is so solid it might be all you need. Finance would just give you a bit more of an edge lol. That said, if you really don’t like accounting, I would ask your professors for advice. They are your mentors after all, and they could even refer you depending on how well connected they are! Hope this helps!

@JackDaniels-ee1fo Год назад
@@breakingthemasks Hi! I ended up deciding to make up the credit hours I need to be able to sit for the CPA. As I’m pursuing this goal, I was able to land a position as a part-time staff auditor at a CPA firm. Not sure that I want to stay in auditing, but it’s good experience for any subsequent accounting or finance related job. If you are planning to pursue further education, I would absolutely recommend accounting. It enables plenty of opportunities, and I think it’s easier to land a position anywhere as a student because of internship prospects. The only problem is giving up a good salary for a while as you are doing school, but if you can manage I think it’s worth it, primarily because of the current shortage of accountants. Firms are looking to hire and retain people for accounting, so you are more empowered to decide where you want to work at, and negotiate a competitive compensation, and it only gets better as you gather more knowledge and experience. However, I get accounting is not for everybody, and it also depends what you want out of a job long term. Although, please note that many people get the wrong idea about accounting from school, thinking that the stuff you do at school is what an accounting job looks like every day. This isn’t the case. Lots of procedures in accounting use software now, so it’s a lot easier in practice than it is in school. Plus, you mostly just deal with spreadsheets and do data entry, and other such grunt work when you start out, so you begin with a smooth sail. Sales could be good tho if your charisma stands out, and you could out-earn anyone, but it’s a risk for it being mostly commission based and dealing with quotas. I understand every person is different, but I hope this insight helps with your own decision moving forward! Best of luck!

Finance as a field is much broader field than Accounting; sure in Accounting there is Tax Accounting , Financial Accounting and Managerial Accounting but these subjects are still much more strongly related to each other than Financial Economics, Financial Engineering /Quantitative Finance and Corporate Finance. Corporate Finance is closely related to Accounting, this is not the case for the other two areas of Finance that require different expertise and tend to attract different people. Not the best, and 90% you won't hit the high salary till your 40s, but you will definitely get there. But I strongly feel automation will catch up, and quickly. Half my job was just watching numbers, at least on the entrance level. And if in the entrance level there is automation, it is very difficult to get to the higher stuff. So you need a bit of luck to get into that good stretch, because at the end of the day you're still expendable. High Risk, High reward.

Second for those who want to leaning to sale sides with personal financial couching, financial advisor, you will need to get CFP, CHFC.

My experience: Finance is oversaturated kind of like law. The “best” jobs when you’re talking about top corporate finance jobs, corporate/commercial/investment banking are pretty competitive. You have to network a lot, build out your resume, and be ready to grind for the job you want. I landed a banking job at a bulge bracket bank but got rejected many times and spent countless hours networking and grinding to improve my resume and skills. Caveat: I didn’t go to a “top” school. I’d imagine if you’re at an elite university this opens a lot more doors.

So glad I came across your channel. I’m a sophomore in college who’s feeling a bit lost about what to pursue. Unfortunately my interests and talents are geared towards the humanities/social sciences so i’ve been very stressed about career prospects. I was thinking about combining anthropology or history with a stats degree and a minor in writing (since it’s an in demand skill I actually like and excel at). The only issue is Stats is incredibly dry to me and I’m not sure id be able to push through it at the university I go to. My school is pretty prestigious and competitive and it’d be incredibly difficult to complete any degree here that I don’t eat, sleep, and breathe. The plus side of the prestige is we have a great alumni network and tons of recruiters who come here even looking at students who major in traditionally “non-practical” degrees, but they almost always also study something that requires quantitative reasoning skills. I’m trying econ although that’s my university’s biggest and most competitive major so I’m not sure I could measure up. Plus if I wanna study anthro I’d think I need something even more quantitative than econ... so ya pretty lost. Thankfully I don’t have to worry about debt and my parents don’t really care what I study as long as I do well. Although, I come from a very high achieving community where everyone goes to top colleges and get funneled into high earning careers so it’s hard not to compare. Like my brother recently graduated from harvard with a degree in computer science/ai and I’m just ❓❓

Hey Natalie! how are you? My best advice is to find the balance between passion and practicality. Plan it out well. I might make a video about this in the future too so stay tuned
@OldHickory1828
@OldHickory1828 4 года назад
It's my understanding that if you want to pursue a career in anthropology you would typically need a Ph.D. Even then, the field is still highly competitive with relatively low pay. Seeing as you seem to be interested in a degree of practicality, that might not be a great idea. Also, if you're afraid of the difficulty of an economics degree, I would definitely stay away from statistics. The math will be much harder. And to get a job in it, you will either need a master's in stats (which practically requires a bachelor in math) or you will need solid coding/programming skills. There are a few jobs where a stat bachelor is useful, but they typically entail *designing* statistical experiments. Jobs that entail statistical analysis will usually require deeper math skills. I'm majoring in quantitative Economics, so it's relatively math heavy, but if you do "general economics" the math should not be anything too difficult. The "non-quanitative" economics classes I've taken have actually been quite similar to history classes. They've taught how economic thought has developed over time in certain areas. With very simple math to help describe it. For those reasons, It would probably pair very well with a history major. And the history would also sharpen your writing skills. Economics is a very "in demand" degree with relatively high pay and also a great degree of flexibility as to career, if you're still not sure what you want to do. It sounds like you're interested in anthropology, stats, and writing. Honestly, economics has a lot of similarity to all these areas. Anthropology is about systems and their development. You're gonna learn a lot of that in econ. Statistics is about uncovering knowledge and trends from data. You'll learn that in econ as well. But also using economic theory to gauge the response of the economy to some stimuli will be very similar to the types of inferences that are made using statistical theory. As for writing, economics is only meaningful if Its' insights can be conveyed to an audience. And economics is a lot wordier than many people assume, especially if you go down the general track. Those are just my two cents, but I wanted to let you know that economics isn't super "math-y" unless you like it that way. And that the type of thinking that you appear interested in is very similar to economics. If you have any underlying interest in economics, then I would recommend it because you seem fit for it. It is usually destructive to compare yourself to others. And yes economics is one of the most popular majors at all universities. Yet it's still in demand.

@@davidfoust9767 Whiplash95, this guy's piece of advice is actually not bad. In finance, the people who make tons of sales are called "rainmakers" because they are the ones who bring in the most business using personality and sales skills. They also get paid the most at investment banks. My point in general is that the ability to make sales is a skill coveted EVERYWHERE because business doesn't happen unless you make sales. All else is forfeit without sales.

I am studying business in community college but I want to get a more specific major for my 4 year degree so I think Finance is going to be my goal instead of business management

Do you think a finance major would Fit well with a computer science minor would be a good combination ? I want to have skills of finance and I have a passion for it but I also want to have that tech flair to my degree.

The best degree is computer science. But I’d say a mathematics, engineering, economics and finance degree are good too.
