This is my response to the videos recently put out by MS paints & Black Jack Legacy on RU-vid:
This is in no way meant to be confrontational to these channels, but just my way of joining the debate.
Is Games Workshop actively trying to control the all powerful RU-vid algorithm by flooding the platform with content ?
Let me know your thoughts below.

Interesting viewpoints. I’m one of the guys who made a video (I think I kind of set the ball rolling) and what I’d say from my point of view is I’ve never made a video just for clicks and views in all the time I’ve had my channel. It’s always been about doing what I love and what I’m personally enjoying. Sometimes that’s a GW product and sometimes it’s not (although I would add I’m not one of the folks getting free stuff from them) so my advice would be always do what you’re passionate about - don’t do it for views. As for being a small channel, every channel starts off small and there’ll be channels who look up to yours as a bigger channel so don’t do yourself down mate. Growing a channel is no joke and it’s hard work - a lot of folks don’t see the behind the scenes effort. You’re 100% right on the GW and algorithm thing. That’s probably one of my main frustrations - that anything none GW gets buried and doesn’t get out to folks who might actually be interested to make their own mind to watch it however that’s the system we use so we have to adapt or accept it … doesn’t make it any less frustrating. Keep doing what you’re doing mate. Folks are watching and enjoying it and I assume you’re enjoying it and that’s what it’s all about.

Unfortunately, many RU-vid channel makers have fallen for the "Quantity over quality" illusion that is propagated today. I'd rather watch a truly inspiring video than yet another GW paint/mini "review" that has been done to death time and again on RU-vid. If you're truly in it for the hobby, and not just for the likes/money etc, then I'll still watch you. If, however, you go over, like so many others have lately, just to promoting GW products, then all you are is yet another GW corporate shill, and they (GW) are just using you as yet another unpaid sales rep for their products.

Interesting - Fortunately my channel is not about making money and I am not aiming to earn a living from RU-vid - I agree that GW vids get watched more than other systems but that's the nature of the hobby - When I make a Necromunda video it gets watched two or three times more than any other video and much quicker too - my latest Ash Wastes video is a good example. If I was really bothere I would be making 40K vids, but I am not. So I am just going to carrying on making the models I want to make in my workshop for me and if people keep watching happy days:0)

If you're inspired and enjoy making youtube videos of your hobby, then it seems logical that you'd continue to do so. If you're looking for growth and that's what interests you going forward then a change of direction could be the answer. Personally, I'm all for people creating whatever they want without corporate oversight. Here's how my hobby watching habit works: There are some armies I like more than others - same with models or sub-factions (and I'm quite diverse in my interest and interms of what I buy, within 40k and its off-shoot games). These are preferences and inform my choices as to what I'll watch and when I'm most likely to do so, since my foocus is subject to change within those armies I'm collecting. Videos featuring models and conversion projects I'm interested in don't have to be high production value, although that can and often does improve the experience. Some of the collaboration videos in this hobby sphere have been very cool: the build a vehicle out of a spray bottle was one example and the Road Wars/Post Apoc style collaboration with Boylei Hobby time, Knarb Makes, Dark Matter Workshop etc was superb fun to witness. Can such patterns of behaviour be accounted for, especially across hundreds and thousands of viewers? Only to a certain degree, and analytics data are useful for determining the answer. In summary, I enjoy your conversions and Necromunda videos and as a frequent user of youtube I tend to do the rounds on those I'm subbed to, including your videos.
