Is Genesis in FF7 Rebirth??

@@zacatkinson3926 Last I heard was an interview where they said they have no plans of remastering it at the moment. It’s possible they’re working on it right now and don’t want to reveal anything about it, but that’s pure speculation. I guess we’ll see! If we see even more DoC elements introduced in Rebirth and Part 3 (or any new DLC) then I’m inclined to believe they plan on releasing it at some point

I know he was based off Gackt to begin with but is he still a popular musician in 2023? I don’t know anything about him lol. Also I’m pretty sure Square Enix owns the rights to Genesis despite him being based of Gackt so they may change it up a little bit

Picture this: it's FF7R part 3 and the party is engaged in a Jenova fight and the fight reaches a phase where it attacks the party leaving everyone on their last legs, and is about to deal a finishing blow, when all of a sudden an attack from above hits Jenova and sends it staggering back. The dust and smoke clears, you hear the line "Even if the morrow is barren of promises, nothing shall forstall my return" and then Gackt's "Redemption" starts playing, revealing Genesis! It probably wouldn't happen that way but I can dream! XD But seriously, what an awesome entrance that would be?!

Love this! I didn't think about DoC's secret ending really taking place in the Remake timeline. Also I have to agree with you on Sonon. We definitely haven't seen the end of him. I've been wanting to do a video on what his future will look like. They can do a lot with him, and it will lead to a VERY emotional scene should he cross path's with the gang with Yuffie present

@@ZombieLicorice I just felt like he was such a bad villain. Every time he took the screen, even before I knew he was the villain, I was felt he was annoying and uninteresting.

I've no problem about his "LOVELESS" because i already speech them even rarely very interest me never fed me i can feel it his every words from Act 1 to Act 4.

Yeah I can understand why some people like Genesis, and if I'm being honest I sort of felt for him at the end of CC. Just that look on his face when he's walking towards Minerva and she looks away (the image on my thumbnail) made me sympathize with his character a little bit lol. And that sounds like a pretty in depth theory! Do you have a link perhaps? I haven't really watched any theory videos over the years simply because I don't have the time lol. I haven't been able to play games much anymore ever since I started this channel, but maybe I can make some time to check the one you're talking about out! I think we'll for sure see some returning characters, but my fear is there will be TOO many characters. I don't want there to be too many people to keep track of. These feelings mostly come from the perspective of brand new players. It might be difficult having a ton of characters thrown out you, but I guess it all depends on Squares execution

Plus there was that one part just before the last rest area in Temple of the Ancients during Rebirth. The Cetra are telling you about the past calamity via murals lit up by the Lifestream, and the mako from the Jenova mural lifts and floats elsewhere to take the shape of a lady in a white gown with white angel wings which seems like an obvious nod that Minerva is Jenova and therefore Genesis is at work even though we don’t see him in Rebirth (he may make his first appearance in the dlc though).

Yeah I agree. I felt like the whole Deepground storyline in DoC was kind of cheesy and lame, but how they handled it in Intergrade made it seem so evil and sinister. I think they could do a much better job incorporating Genesis. But as you said I don’t want him to be too prominent. There’s a healthy balance and I think I can trust them to pull it off if they do decide to include Genesis

This did not age well sadly. My man Genesis got the shaft and wasn't in Rebirth. Rebirth's simulator was also somewhat of a letdown that consisted of the same monsters and summons over and over in different combinations

Haha you and me both! Nothing has been confirmed yet, but there is definitely evidence pointing to the possibility of his return! If he does return I trust they’ll implement him well. But you’re right, it’s not a deal breaker for me either!

Haha yeah honestly that’s probably the main reason they remastered it. But that’s kind of what I’m saying about new people experiencing CC. Won’t they wonder where Genesis is in Nibelheim? And I think when they announced Ever Crisis they said it will contain the entire compilation so Before Crisis should be available at some point. I just hope it doesn’t get cancelled and they scrap plans

Missed opportunity by Square passing on Genesis in Rebirth. Weiss was in Remake so I had my hopes up for Rebirth introducing Genesis in some way. We got Chadley instead and a comic relief biker gang. Step backwards for the series

No I totally get that and I’m pretty sure they even said they wanted people to learn more about Zack. It’s clear that’s the MAIN reason they released Crisis Core, but I’m more thinking along the lines of is it the ONLY reason they released it? It just seems weird that they want people to play the game to learn more about Zack and the people involved in his story, but then never mention any of these other characters ever again lol. But yeah I don’t think Crisis Core automatically means he’s coming back either haha. I really just wanted to talk about the potential of Genesis returning based on everything we know

My money's on... Aerith dies. Perhaps even by Cloud's hand this time rather than Sephiroth's (which would explain why he feels so guilty compared to the others in Advent Children.) In the OG game, Cloud comes to his senses before striking her. But Sephiroth seems to be manipulating Cloud and trying to drive a wedge between him and the party, trying to whittle away at his humanity, to the point Tifa comments about how Cloud is scaring her (when he's about to kill Johnny.) So this time around, Cloud is a darker character, perhaps too weak to resist Sephiroth's influence this time. But maybe not. The point is... ultimately, Aerith dies. Then, from this new perspective in Zack's world, where she reawakens (because Zack's world is a place where life is overflowing, due to the defeat of the whispers who previously would ensure death) we can see what Aerith got up to after Disk 1. How she summons Holy. I think SE perhaps viewed the Remake as a chance to allow us to "save Aerith" but in a way that doesn't conflict with the themes of the original game. On top of that, give some great fan service by letting us play as Zack, and maybe Genesis or Sephiroth. By making her enter this new world which is unnatural, where she must fulfil her objective of summoning Holy. And to do so, she must trigger Omega Weapon which then uses the power of the world's lifestream to save Cloud's world from Meteor. Meteor I think would be like the Omega weapon of the black lifestream. Life doesn't conquer death and vice versa. But rather it's a stalemate, and the balance is restored. Cloud's world survives, but at the cost of Zack's world. And that leads neatly into Advent Children where the only remaining threat left, is Sephiroth and the geostigma he is causing in that world. The Protomateria could be held by Genesis maybe in Zack's world. If there is White and Black materia, I guess the Protomateria is like a Red Materia, which doesn't save or destroy a world, but creates one world at the expense of another. Proto and Genesis both mean the same thing too. Maybe Aerith uses the White Materia in Cloud's world, and then uses the Protomateria in Zack's world, to complete the summon. I look forward to March when I complete Rebirth and discover I am dead wrong about absolutely everything. =D I am imagining a cutscene in my head where it's pouring with rain and Omega shoots off into the cosmos and evaporates into embers of white light, the rain stops and the sky darkens and green stars shine through the atmosphere. And then you switch over to Cloud's world where Meteor is destroying everything, and then like at the end of FF7, the power of Holy kicks in and the lifestream comes to break down Meteor. Then after a crescendo of music, it just turns dark with silence and we switch back to another shot of Zack's world which is now completely dead after Omega departed, where we see black feathers fall from the sky and a purple and grey lifestream forming, and perhaps you see Minerva as the last remnant of the lifestream left, who is being overwhelmed by the Whispers, and slowly she transforms into Jenova, revealing what the Whispers were. How Minerva and Jenova are basically symbols of both sides of the lifestream. And then when Jenova closes her eyes, fade to white. And the whole point of the scene is to convey that one world has died in order to save the other. --------------------------------------------- Really long interpretation of Loveless incoming: When the war of the beasts brings about the world's end The goddess descends from the sky Wings of light and dark spread afar She guides us to bliss, her gift everlasting ^ The Goddess is not Minerva. It is both Minerva and Jenova. They are a duality. That is why the Goddess has wings of light and dark. Infinite in mystery is the gift of the Goddess We seek it thus, and take to the sky Ripples form on the water's surface The wandering soul knows no rest. ^ I think the mystery is the meaning of life in a sense, which is the inevitability of death, which in turn makes life precious and fleeting, and gives it meaning. I think for instance some religious folk view an afterlife as an essential component in life having purpose, or your spirit lasting eternally etc. But FF7's theme refutes this, and says that life only has meaning if it is finite in nature, which makes every second important. It also means that legacy becomes more important too, because you achieve a longer lasting existence, through leaving an impression on other people in the world. Cloud in a sense receives the gift at the end of AC, which finally makes him able to smile. He accepts Aerith's death and no longer seeks to torment himself wishing he could bring her back from death. He acknowledges he doesn't need to fight against nature to put things right, because everything is as it should be, even if that includes the death of a loved one. The sky is death. We seek meaning and then we die. The ripples are interactions between people, and the water's surface is the physical planet where life resides. But if a soul lives in perpetuity, it will never know rest, and never receive the gift of the goddess (like Sephiroth.) So a soul must eventually seek rest in order to receive the gift. Three friends go into battle. One is captured One flies away The one that is left becomes a hero. ^ Sephiroth is definitely the one who flies away. I think Genesis is the one who is captured. Dreams of the morrow hath the shattered soul Pride is lost Wings stripped away, the end is nigh ^ I think this means that if you have your head in the clouds, you will miss the life in front of you. Sephiroth's constant need to perpetuate his existence, is a dream of the morrow. He doesn't want tomorrow to never come, and that drives him to lose his humanity and reject the gift of the goddess. He loses his pride, his honour, and his wing is stripped away (he is a one-winged angel, who has lost his humanity.) "The end is nigh" is a reminder that he will eventually fail. There is no hate, only joy For you are beloved by the goddess Hero of the dawn, Healer of worlds ^ Reminding Sephiroth that he should accept the gift of the goddess, and reject hate and embrace joy. "Hero of the Dawn" is cryptic, but it could mean that this is what he should have been, but instead rejected it. My friend, do you fly away now? To a world that abhors you and I? All that awaits you is a somber morrow No matter where the winds may blow ^ No matter how hard you try you can't escape your destiny. Your morrow will ALWAYS be somber unless you accept the "gift" and the peace that comes with death. My soul, corrupted by vengeance Hath endured torment, to find the end of the journey In my own salvation And your eternal slumber ^ Genesis is driven to find the answers to the gift of the goddess. The search has tormented him. But the answer is that he will find salvation by bringing peace to Sephiroth, and ensuring Sephiroth receives the gift of the goddess (eternal slumber.) My friend, the fates are cruel There are no dreams, no honor remains The arrow has left the bow of the goddess ^ Sephiroth has not embraced his dreamed. He has no SOLDIER honour. And the arrow that has left the bow, is perhaps the destruction of the world. My friend, your desire Is the bringer of life, the gift of the goddess Legend shall speak Of sacrifice at world's end The wind sails over the water's surface Quietly, but surely ^ Reminding Sephiroth that he doesn't really know what he wants. What he really wants is the gift of the goddess, even though he fights it in his ignorance. The sacrifice at worlds end could be Aerith (or in Remake now, potentially the sacrifice of Zack's entire world.) The water's surface is life. The ripples are individual people and memories. And the wind perhaps could be death and fate, which drives the ripples, and causes some to collide, while others form etc. Quietly but surely just means that things will reach an inevitable conclusion, and Sephiroth will meet his end eventually. Even if the morrow is barren of promises Nothing shall forestall my return To become the dew that quenches the land To spare the sands, the seas, the skies I offer thee this silent sacrifice ^ Nothing shall forestall my return, could mean that fate is inevitable. I think it alludes to the fact that Zack had died, but his spirit still reunites with Aerith through Cloud. The events of Remake have disrupted this and now Cloud and Zack are separated from the undermining of Zack's sacrifice. But again, nothing will forestall the return. And things will still resolve as they should. The dew is water, which is life. And quenching in the land of course means to invigorate a barren world with life. The final two lines are saying that in order to bring forth life, you must sacrifice life. So to save one world, you must sacrifice another. Also Sephiroth cannot live indefinitely without sacrificing humanity etc. It is basically just saying there is no cheating the cycle of life. Death must enter the world to set the table for new life to be born. And Genesis will need to sacrifice "the hero" in order to save the one who flew away, and give him the gift of the goddess, and save the planet (the seas, the skies etc.)

I never thought about it from that angle, Sephiroth being a threat to the flow of death I mean. It's always all about the Lifestream, but actually thinking about it as the flow of death is interesting to think about. Genesis for sure will be involved in some way or another. Whether its small lab reports, a hidden super boss, or much more prominent. Another person commented about the possibility of DoC's secret ending actually taking place in the Remake trilogy. But back then we assumed it was at the end of DoC. Honestly that really got me thinking haha. I always thought it was possible for him to emerge sooner than DoC, but never thought about that scene actually taking place in Rebirth/Part 3. And I also never thought about the rift being Holy, but isn't it the same rift that appeared right before you fight Sephiroth at the end? He raises his hand and the sky splits above Midgar and it looks similar to the rift we see with Zack. Dude honestly there is so much shit to analyze from so many angles haha. So you mention Omega could possibly be from Aerith's perspective, but what about at the end of DoC when it was visible to everyone? As always thanks for commenting dude! @@EikonicGamer By Aerith's perspective I mean not just her. But Zack's, Biggs, Jessie etc. All these people who have died, but are still alive because Sephiroth has screwed with death itself. I think the idea of the story is that this is an unnatural occurrence caused by Sephiroth, these people are supposed to be dead, and Aerith will have to end that world to put things right again. Think of it like Sephiroth used to be bringing death to the lifestream. But now he's bringing life to the flow of fate. Both are unnatural. They've said they're not changing the FF7 story, but are trying to integrate the Compilation in a better way. So I think this makes sense. To kill Aerith off, but we see her sent to a world where we get to play as her after she's died, along with Zack and perhaps Genesis. And they get a chance to explore the compilation elements like Weiss, Protomateria, Omega, etc. and tie it all together. We know that Zack and Aerith's world is not around anymore in Advent Children, and we know the story is roughly the same. So that's the angle I'm looking at. And I think it makes sense that Zack's world will explore how Holy works, and it will work by sacrificing one world to save the other. Unfortunately Aerith has to leave the saved world in order to be the saviour of it.

I know what you mean dude! I think he’ll most likely be DLC just like Weiss and Nero just to make sure the main story doesn’t have too much going on. As far as the timelines go I think he’ll be present in Zacks only because he has more of a past with Zack and is relevant to Zacks story in CC. And for all we know Genesis might be the key to Zack learning what the hell is happening within the world and the different timelines

the lifestreams are mrmories and souls of the dead, and also simultaniously the conciousness of the planet, which it uses to experience itself. mako poisoning is an overload of memories. everything since crisis core, revolvs around memories. even it's battle system powers you up with memories.

At no point in this video did I say Genesis merged with Sephiroth. Are you talking about when I said Genesis might have emerged from the cave and traveled back in time similar to whatever Sephiroth is doing? Also memory traveling as a good phrase. Well I believe I read Square Enix owns the rights of Genesis, and they did use him again for Crisis Core Reunion so I don't see that being much of an issue. But you're right it will most likely be an option VR boss! Or even some DLC with him awakening in the cave and the DLC is the cave with him as the final boss. We'll see!

Yeah DLC is definitely possible. It includes the compilation but keeps the main narrative intact. I suspect we’ll see the secret ending of him awakening in the DLC

I understand where you’re coming from. To me it’ll all depend on how they execute it. And even though this whole time traveling thing seems likely I remember the developers coming out and pretty much saying we’re all overthinking these narrative changes. It might be so simple we’re missing it completely and time traveling ends up having nothing to do with it lol. But I kind of hope as you said Genesis will only be a super boss. Maybe the cave Genesis is in will be an optional hidden dungeon and he’s the super boss? I don’t know dude haha

I won’t be pissed just to see his appearance especially if they end up making it work well. I guess we’ll see Feb. 29th!
