One question with regard to ventilation, in your video it doesn't look like you have it going out the window. Did you purchase that "ventilation" box they offer on the GF site (not sure of the official name for it)? If so, how do you like it and is it worth the $$$?

Got my Pro. Having a blast. I found out that all the stuff I’ve learned from doing machine embroidery artwork and vinyl cutting artwork also applies to the glowforge artwork. Major head start. My only limit now is my imagination and finding my niche.👍

Just to be clear to anyone taking this review seriously. Do not leave a laser cutter/printer alone! Around the 6:10 mark, she talks about leaving the machine alone. I don't care how safe you feel with a machine like this fires do start and there are many other reviewers that attest to that using glowforge. This really isn't a toy... It's an awesome tool, but not something to take lightly. Be safe don't hurt or kill yourself or others.

Loved your video! I’ve been contemplating on getting a glowforge possibly the pro. I do have a concern as a mom ..,I live in an apt. and the glowforge would be placed in an open area only with the air filter. Do you know if it would still give off harmful fumes. Biggest concern holding me back.
I live in a 3,000 sqft house and I put my Glowforge upstairs vented out of a window, I do not have the filter you can buy separately, I can smell the Glowforge from downstairs and I close the office door and the door to the upstairs. I don’t allow my 5 year old upstairs while I’m printing and I mostly print when he isn’t home. It’s also fairly loud
How do you feel about the software being internet based ?? I just can't bring myself to buy one.. what happens if they go out of business you have no way of using the machine. I want one but I just can't do it :(
Caroline Gunzburg I don’t mind it. I don’t see that happening. Also I just did an app tour also to show how it works. But I understand your concern. I prefer how easy this is to other machines. But I see the risk.

When people discover sweet spot settings for new materials, do they provide a system for sharing the info with the cloud based app, to make it easy for other users to refer to? Also, do you know if they ever have any plans to allow the machine to be operated in standalone mode so you’re not required to have an internet connection just to use it? $2000-$4000 seems a bit of a gamble on a machine that could end up completely useless if the company ever goes under and the cloud service disappears. Would also be nice to have a working laser cutter if society goes belly up some day. ;)

Great video. I love your excitement about the product. I am thinking of getting this item. My main focus will be wedding invitations which take a long time to set up and print on a Cricut. You mention SVG files which is exactly what I was thinking. This machine does not print so I will need to print elsewhere and then cut a number laid out in one go. You did not mention perspex, do you know if they etch /engrave well?
Hey Sam. The idea with the baby feet is pretty nice. How did you manage to get this on their? Did you paint the baby‘s feet with black color, put it on a paper and scanned it?
The Glowforge is great... when it works. If yours breaks after the year it is $500 to ship it and $1000+ depending to fix it. This is a machine that’s already super expensive. Buy this if you have loads of spare cash. I like mine, but I would have gone with a different brand.

Jessica Kate no prob. You can have them be as thick as 1.5 inches but you really can only cut as deep as under half an inch. But you can do layered projects where you stack wood and glue then together works great. My code saves you for the basic as well! I think it’s 100 off basic. 250 of the plus!!!!
They can be 1 1/2" but it can cut only about .3 inches to .5 inches. Thats pushing it. Its great for doing layered projects. but if you need a deep cutting instrument you probably need a c&c maching. Bigger investment. this works great for me though

The basic is not set up for all day jobs, the pro is set up with a cooling feature, but to be honest, it may still need some cool down time, also it runs 10x faster than the basic

Love your video! But.... my Glowforge Pro lid is already falling apart from the poor design flaw of the glass, plastic parts & hinge hardware are all glued together. Company want me to pay $200 to ship it back to them for the repairs or I would have to fix it myself.

I do love your energy & enthusiasm! I do have to say the constant moving around was extremely distracting & made it frustrating to watch this to the end. You made some great observations. I just feel the video may have been more effective with less constant movement of the camera.

So you had it for a year, How often are you using it? I really want one but the price to make sense want to spread it out on a few years but the 6 months warranty on such an expensive product is such a big red flag :S as well as the USD to CAD current exchange rate hehe.
