This would help with longevity as it would be like diesels of old making peak power just off idle. Oh and it would help lower N0x emissions even further.

As a former tech for gm and I have seen the harp all big 3 have made . How about better reliability long-term less rust long term and better electronics and here the big one better fuel economy there no reason for 14.5 out the box best mile babied . Here a thought lower the price of these truck to acceptable level when loaded which standard trim like Silverado

gm likes to make truck engine lines that stick around awhile. 8.3 is probably tested for 600hp to check reliability but would ship with 525hp (just my guess) and incrementally improve over the next several years.

@@mikeallen5291 I’ve been saying it for years. Our carbon footprint is cleaner than it’s ever been, and we’re out here screaming the planet has just a few more years to live… and I’m supposed to buy that? When, exactly what you’re saying about mining metals for batteries is a thing that’s overlooked anytime/everytime. It’s insane how people can’t put that together.
@mikeallen5291
@mikeallen5291 5 месяцев назад
@@Mattss90 Finally, someone who sees the forrest from the trees. I began my endeavor in the 90's studying the historical climate because what I was told in school was not aligning with what I knew prior to the indoctrination of the discussion in our school. I was tipped off further when I, by sheer chance, came across an article in a science paper in which studies were done by major universities that discussed what was coming out of exhaust pipes pre and post catalyst. They made it rather blatant point that particulate mass in the atmosphere was the issue in the 70's when the discussion was about smog, but the removall of so much of that mass will lead to something like a magnifying glass effect. They then discussed the amounts of greenhouse gases in depth. If memory serves correctly, the toxic gases are reduced, but that toxicity is relative to humans and not to atmospheric stability. In short, the catalytic converters lower the amount of gases and toxins that are dangerous to humans, but the cost is increased greenhouse gases leaving exhaust pipes. I remember the sun not being so hot on my skin and having winter every single year like clockwork in the midwest up until the early 90's down to having snow almost every halloween. we had 90's weather in the summer and even a few 3 digit days annually, but very few mild winters. Meaanwhile back at the ranch, countries like Ukraine, were too cold and undeveloped for ag, but they are now ag powerhouses and were made that way with helf from the good ol' USA. I always laughed when I heard the line on King of the Hill when Dale Gribble said "let the planet warm up. We'll grow oranges in Alaska.". I'm not laughing now when I know that one of the biggest issues humans face as the world poulation grows, is food shortages. I apologize for the diatribe but it's not every day that I get someone that doesn't rag on me for my thought process on this matter. If it is gov't and it's name ends in "agency" or "service" it's an unregulated company that needs no legislation to enforce its laws and rules and that is how the gov't has bypassed the constitution when it comes to what rights we supposedly have.

I've got 2 8.1 gassers and love them they pull like freight trains. A duramax 8.3 would be sweet but is it needed? To be honest I see way too many people hauling way too big of loads for trucks. Anything much over 30-35k is where you really should be using a much heavier truck then a HD pickup. Will they haul yes, but anyone who has ever towed something much heavier than your tow vehicle knows what I'm talking about not all roads are smooth sailing. If a person can handle towing it's not a problem, but too many that think they can and end up in a heap of trouble. I'm all for more power but the tow ratings are getting to the point where a cap needs to be set. If not in a few years it will be 45k+ loads and if the trailer brakes go out on a long down grade that pickup truck is not going to hold it back. Definitely GM needs to bring back the solid front axle probably there biggest mistake was going IFS on medium and heavy duty trucks.

I like my old 5.9. And even get along ok with the 6.7 which really didn’t add anything to it. Proper gearing on the transmission is the most important factor. Making all these bigger and badder motors that don’t really add any more capability if your needing something bigger get a 5500 or something. You can get a lot more weight moving way faster than breaks can control
@riverratt8626

It is easier to meet emission with the bigger motor, they probably won't increase HP too much, probably just match ford at 1200 TQ . They need a bigger gas than the 6.6, they could build something off the ZZ632 crate motor, just drop it down to 565 Cubes.

I am the owner a SD550 and SD250 and I Do not and will not tow over 25,000lbs on the roads even if the truck can handle it, but its the fools that cut you off and the dead stop fools the truck has to be concerned with. fordnation.

Seem to be swaying customers who would buy a diesel to now buying a gas engine so they are losing customers of ourse there are those who absolutley have to have a diesel for their needs, but they are in the business of selling as many trucks as they can whether people actually need a diesel or not the bigger gasoline engine will be a bigger deal I think, ease of use and maintenance while still being "capable" enough for more diesel owners to switch back....... 2026 8.3 denali ultimate 3500 DRW......MSRP $122,810.00

@btwbrand
@btwbrand 5 месяцев назад
The only reason DEF is needed it to keep NoX emissions down. The only reason the NoX emissions are high is the power being produced is very high creating high temperature cylinder gasses. The only reason the power numbers are so high is because the big truck makers have been in a HP and Torque war since International put a turbo on the 7.3. The only reason the auto makers pushed for higher numbers is because that's what truck buyers voted for with their wallets. DEF is a consumer created problem. It's not an EPA created problem. Bigger engine making less power and you will not need DEF and you'll hit the noise and emissions requirements with todays injection control systems combined with a simple catalyst in the exhaust stream. Your request is only reachable with lower power and larger engines: the exact opposite of the high power smaller engine size that is being pushed across all manufacturers.
@AlexSimek1

@@btwbrand not close to true. bigger equals less, but its deffenately the EPA controling things. That really comes down to how you vote. Democrats are why were here, and people of this country is why we have Democrats. Republicans arent any better. We need America. There is a guy with a first gen s10 SAS with a lb7. It eats the fullsize trucks up and always a good laugh when he posts pictures of towing dozers around in a lwb ex cab square body s10.

GMC will never compete against the h.o 6.7l power stroke turbo diesel sorry but GMC and Chevy get their parts from China so if they are building a new Duramax it'll be more junk GMC and Chevy are woke. Fomoco has a new 7.3l power stroke in the works to produce over 650hp 1500 ft lbs of torque.

8.3 diesel? Nope, doubt it. 8.3 gasser? More likely. If they keep the tune down on it they can probably keep emissions in check and reduce the amount of customers needing a diesel. We already know GM said they're investing in next gen gas v8's for their trucks and suvs.

Personally i dont believe gm would introduce it as an inline 6 due to the abrupt introduction of the inline in the 1500 series. And same goes for the 6.6 gasser. They just introduced it recently so i think that gm if they were smart they would experiment more with those platforms before increasing the size of those motors. Being they are already doung great with the v8 diesel platform they would build more off of that in my opinion. I mean every company has its mistakes but trying to do better in something they have little experience or knowledge on is just stupid.

Guys need to grow up and get a medium duty truck instead of pushing the limits of a pickup. Frieghtliner m2 will out tow any pickup on the market

My prediction is that this may be another gm/navistar collaboration, the biggest complaint I hear from people on the navistar side is that there are essentially no options for their medium duty trucks like the MV series just the 6.7 cummins with a max hp option of 280 or something I believe. And the CV with the L5D is underpowered, so I think if the 8.3 is real it's going to be incorporated in the medium duty line up like the chevy 5500 and international MV/CV series trucks as an alternative for customers that want something with more power.

@@logandavies5950 people have been buying 3/4 tons that at that price and upgrading them. The prices have only recently started to go down. If this additional power can increase your earning power, I’m sure you’d spend it.

House bill 2007 here in the state of Oregon is basically phasing out anything older than a 2009 if I remember correctly by the year 2029. Anything older will not be able to be re-registered within the state, unless it is retrofitted to pass DEQ narrative….. I mean standard🙄.

GM Needs a good competitor to the F450 Powerstroke HO, which is already 1200lb ft. I have a Duramax and I like it, but would have to upgrade to F450 higher trim for some work. also all of the power strokes are much more comfortable than any of the GM/Chevy versions. We want something nicer than the 4500, if you do it, we can stick with GM. If not, we’re going to go over to Ford probably

How about Government Motors just build a RELIABLE truck again? Ya know, try something NEW. They havent done it in over a decade. Got tons of TAX PAYER DOLLARS and cant build something that will outlast the payments.

Cummins killer 😂 No. Cummins already makes an 8.3L, since 1985. If Duracrap is making one for Chevy pickups, it’s only because they can’t keep up with the reliability of Cummins powered Rams and are hoping a bigger motor will solve their issues. Keep dreaming.

GM don’t have the BALLS… period !!! Look how long it took them to force inducted the Y-Body !! The GNX used to send the retired white collar back to the GM dealership crying why a grocery-get’r V-6 turbo just whipped its A$$ for less than half what he paid for 💰!! GNX was a prime example of what force induction has to offer butt GM engineers and executives didn’t have the reflexes to experience that next level of thrust!! Just a thought 💭

This is getting ridiculous. Just bought a Cummins HO with 4:10 gears. Got rid of a 2015 HO 4:10. The new truck will hold the hills a little better and the mpg is a little better, but the torque management won't let you have all the power until you are at speed. The trans programming gets confused, the 15 was the best trans I ever hauled with. I have run a 1 ton dually's since 1984 in a business not a grocery getter. I have owned them all. The 2015 Dodge HO asian 4:10 was the best working combo I ever had, sorry I sold it. There is no need for more power if the chassis won't let you have it.

Haven't heard anything from "the horses mouth". Only see multiple channels and post claiming "Allegedly" while spewing a bunch of rhetoric and speculation. I have my doubts. But if it does come to fruition? Better offer the high output version for a 4x4 crew cab 6500.

As a 30 year plus Mastertech for GM I don’t think they need to build any Duramax engines. They’re all trouble prone. They have been told and they know what’s going on with the diesels breaking the crankshaft and the camshaft Dave’s auto in Centerville Utah has told him numerous times and he’s one of the best alsothat the keyway is the way to go these engines will not last long. I don’t care if people get 400,000 500,000 that’s no miles compared to what 67 Cummins will get or ford
