In GoW 2018 Sindri says that Brok's skin gradually turned blue due to forging metals with his bare hands (Brok says he doesn't wear gloves because he likes to get a feel for the metal). It's a very real condition called argyria, which turns your skin blue from too much exposure to silver. Plus if Brok just woke up from his incident and suddenly had blue skin he would've been more than a little suspicious lol.
I do remember that but I always considered that like a half truth. Maybe he had tinted skin from that but Sindri was not above lying to his brother and Brok does have his suspicions
I agree on the ending feeling very rushed. I think it would have been better for this game to end with Brok's death and have all of the preparation for Ragnarok and the battle itself take place in a third game.
I would've been pretty mad if that happened. They definitely could've made Ragnarok be a little more epic though. You fight what, 10 enemies on the way to Thor? Lol
The ending is not just rushed. Most parts of the story are straight up illogical and simply made to be convenient for the plot to follow and story to reach a rushed conclusion. I loved GOW 2018. I like Ragnarok -gameplay, side quests, character moments. But completely dislike the story.
That's a hard no from me. I've commented elsewhere that it suffers from the same issues as Kingdom Hearts 3 as in the majority of the interesting plot points, or rather what you're waiting for to happen happens within the last few hours of the game. The final Thor and Odin battles aren't epic in scale as the Baldur fight was, or anything from the Greek games. While the combat in GOW is arguably 'better.' The last boss battles in KH3 were better than what GOWR mustered, that being said GOWR overall had better boss battles in general. I find Heimdall to have some sort of cognitive dissonance. I don't know if he just can't see into Odin's mind and see that All-Father only really cares about himself, or if he actively ignores everything that would appear in someone's mind like Odin's. Which makes him a complete fanatic in either case, but creates a question of the capabilities of Heimdall. The pacing comes to a grinding halt in Jotunheim, I was so goddamn bored that I couldn't wait to get out of there and getting back to play Kratos. Even when Kratos wasn't an active protagonist for the majority of the game. The game is a 6.5-7.5/10 for me. All this talk of masterpieces had me taking a much more critical look at the game, and I don't think it deserves that commendation. It's good, or even really good, but masterpiece it is not. Oh and other criticisms, Freyr had no time to endear himself to the player, the elven armies putting down their arms to join Ragnarok just comes off as lazy.
Thank you for finally being the first person I’ve seen who acknowledged how ragnarok felt rushed and not really impactful at the end. I’ve finished the game and felt this sour taste of something missing, and after some time thinking I’ve realized the problem is not just that it was rushed, but that the whole game was spent lowering the stakes to a point where there was really nothing risky at all in the battle. The first hour of the game in honestly almost perfectly, having this feeling of “everything is f*d up”. The world is all dark and every enemy seems to be so much powerful than you, and avoid the endgame at all cost seems to be the only right choice. But as the game progresses, you discover that ragnarok won’t destroy the entire world, only asgard. They keep reaffirming how prophecies JUST MIGHT be changed, so I wonder if kratos will really die… They show how odin is on its way to have no allies at the end, how all the realms are willing to help you in a single instant (when some of them should hate you), and I don’t even want to start with surtr and the giant wolf that can literally eat worlds. and at the end, odin doesn’t really have the mask because by a nice trick shot of kratos you have it back. So now, what can odin really do? He doesn’t have the mask, or a strong army, in fact if we want we can take a walk in the park of every realm before going to the fight. What really is the stakes here? The battle was already won from the start. And the pay off was still bad. We fought thor, then odin, and that was it. We always had the advantage. When I thought something different would happen, like the ragnarok turning against ourselves and offering an actual threat to the world, IT JUST CUTS TO ATREUS WAKING UP IN THE BED. This ending was so frustrating to me. I really enjoyed most of the game, and it hurts to say that this and some other problems stuck with me the most. Although I think the packet overall is better than 2018, I can’t really see the masterpiece everyone is talking about.
I'm not gonna try and convince you of anything but after deliberating with some other people of the ending it felt like it could have went both ways with either kratos or Odin dying depending on the capacity of their change Since Odin didn't change at all and Kratos did an immense amount and hearing "you are the sum of your choices" from the norns makes the seemingly rushed ending fit in retrospect It may have not been what everyone wanted But it definitely wrapped up with little to question
People have been saying that since they finished. I found it the worst part of the game along with the needless joutenheim section. Looks like they sacrificed Ragnarok for that
Yeah, it really feels to me that this is a classic case of when art meets commercial interests. It really feels like some many things were changed to accommodate future sequels and that this took precedence over telling the right story.
I cant give Ragnarok game of the year. As much as i loved it, i had more than a few gripes. Most of 2018's combat was recycled to this game. Sure, there were some new moves but not much (aside from the third weapon of course). The finale was rushed, and just plain bad. I wanted a huge fight like the first fight with Thor at the beginning of the game. That did not happen. Even Odin was 3 on one and just felt too easy. To this day, no boss fight has surpassed Baldur in my opinion. After rescuing Tyr, he proceeds to do absolutely nothing for the entirety of the game. Now after finishing the game, players understand why, yet this does not help Atreus' bit of "we need Tyr for Ragnarok." It was because of Tyr that they first began their journey. I just feel that bit fell flat. Sindri. Oh Sindri. How they butchered your character. The final scene in the game shows Sindri disappearing after Broks funeral. Being that this is the last game in the Norse mythology, are we to believe we will never seen Sindri again? They handled his conclusion HORRIBLY. Especially since Atreus couldnt have known who Tyr was and that Brok would have been killed. At one point, Odin asks Kratos if anyone has ever worshipped him. Since hes such a monster. Uh, yes. People have. All the spartans worshipped him in ghost of sparta and GOW2 but i guess the devs just forgot?? Huge wtf there. Pacing issues. Ironwood. "Hey loki i have something to show you. Can we feed my animals first?" Far too long. Far too unnecessary. Asgard. The mythical grand city was nothing more than a normal looking village. And lets not forget the giant wall you're forced to climb. Not a bad climb, but still unncecessary imo. Half of the side characters are too underdeveloped. I cant tell you how many times i said "who?" When someone mentioned a side character. The mask. All that work to find the missing pieces just to destroy it? Seriously? Why bother having it in the story at all? There was literally no pay off. Where did the rift come from? Where does it lead? Never explained. Atreus was far too eager to begin Ragnarok and start war. And far too many scenes were of Kratos saying "no" and Atreus saying "yes". A large part of the game is about the cost of war, but there was very little war aside from the final battle which was rushed. Even the big battle between Thor and Jormungander, who supposedly shook the realms and blew Jormund back in time, was nothing more than a scene happening in the background. And yet, despite all these glaring issues, the game got a lot of 10s. I just dont get it.
I think you get it bro =) it's quite obvious, and youre right in all points. I have so many bad things about this game to say that I might aswell say nothing, to me this game is objectively bad, and it's funny because it's not a bad game per se (lol) but it's a bad game for gaming. It's a 4yo sony game that had lots of hype. And I mean LOTS. In 1 year there will be a lot of people making essays about this game and pointing every issue, this game will be considered offensive to the franchise, way more that ascencion. This game has dated design and will be forever the game that cost the most and delivered dated walk forward hear exposition 'game'.
people forget that Atreus is still a child and they wanted tyr so badly to follow prophecy. This game is amazing and most your points wrong except for the pacing issues in ironwood. The mask is used to move the plot along and to give thor and the rest of the gods in asgard some CHARACTER. The side quests are awesome and feel important compared to 2018s, they help with world building. Odin was talking about a certain type of worship, people worshipped kratos for the monster he was in the original trilogy but thats not what kratos wants to be known for since he is trying to be better, not that hard to understand. Sindri is dealing with loss in his own way, kinda like its the underlining theme to both of the new games!!!! Having a huge fight at the end from kratos pov would have been weird, kratos didn't want the war so why would he be doing over the top spectacular shit? We still get good scenes from the fight and the best one is when kratos tell atreus to open his heart to the peoples suffering after telling him all this time to close it for so long. I think the problem here is that you are kinda dumb and don't understand the theme and tone of the game, and that is jarring and disappointing.
You’re ignoring how good the bosses were throughout the game. Garm, hrist and mist, nidhogg, Thor 1, side bosses were great. How is the finale being rushed make it bad? It closes every plot point brought up in the game except the horn, which will be answered in another game. You’re really complaining tyr did nothing. Really? How have they ruined sindris character? You just said “the last time we see him is broks funeral” OH NO WHAT A HORRIBLE CHARACTER. Sindris one of the best characters in the game. You think kratos is proud of being worshipped as the god of war that would destroy armies? You think he’s just gonna turn around and say “actually I have been worshipped”? That’s not in kratos’ character. How was Asgard bad? You’re just salty it wasn’t mcu-ified. The climb was necessary because Odin needed Atreus to see that he rescued the midgardians to make him look better. He’s also stuck as tyr at sindris house so he can’t go back to Asgard right away. You haven’t explained how side characters are under developed. Your point about the mask is just objectively wrong. If odin completed the mask and used it he would have become all powerful and unstoppable, “all truth”. Your point about us never finding out what’s in the rift is also like saying we never find out what’s in the box in pulp fiction, it’s not even a bad thing you’re just being childish. Your “glaring issues” aren’t even glaring.
The mask and crack were such macguffins that I thought I was watching a Star Wars movie. There was way too much retconning, and plot convince. The story overall was lazy. Odin being Tyr was literally just for shock value. I did nothing else for the plot. Like who wrote this, JJ Abrams.
What did it retcon? Odin was manipulating Atreus as tyr and made him run away to Asgard, if Odin had completed the mask he’d have infinitive knowledge and won the final fight. He would have won if it wasn’t for brok.
No. The game is a 8-8.5/10. I loved 2018 and the reboot was seriously a breath of fresh air. The idea that this game is a masterpiece with the haphazardly thrown together story is just laughable.
I think it's No.2 after 2018/GOW2 which I cannot decide between. It would have been top if it had 1 more thing A much bigger and more expanded Ragnarok set piece. Nearly everything building up to Ragnarok was about as perfect a story and narrative as I could have wanted
I h8ed the Atreus parts. Had to switch to the easiest difficulty everytime just to speed run past them. IMO it destroyed this games full potential. I can see why they designed like this but idc i didnt dig it.
I think GoW is so overated ! It's not even close to open world. It's hand held like crazy. Camera is awful. Combat is the best part of the game, but problem is it gets boring, just not enough weapons in my opinion and playing with anyone other then the God of war sucks! His son is down right awful to use and has made me stop playing. I've hit a huge wall playing this game. This story also is so boring to me. I honestly don't get why so many people like this game. I think after 90% players finish this game they will forget about it and move on.
I hadn’t gotten a strong emotional reaction to an ending of a game like this since the first Last of Us. The final act did feel rushed in places but I felt the characters were all written so damn well that I could excuse it
i feel like ragnarok may seem better than 2018 in every way, and though that is true to an extant, imo 2018 just had a better kratos. Like mans was jumping off that one mountain onto the dragon to chase after baldur, and that one scene when kratos just stood there while the dragon looked like it was about to fall on him was just crazy. Maybe it's just because 2018 is what introduced me to the gow franchise, but i honestly didn't feel as much excitement with ragnarok's story. Also imo baldur is a better antagonists than thor and odin combined, like baldur is still the only person to actually throw hands with kratos. And though kratos vs thor round 1 was sick, kratos vs baldur near the beginning of gow 2018 is still the best introductory to a piece of fiction ever. Gow 2018 was also the first time we got to see kratos "main" a weapon other than the blades of chaos, as u would use the axe for over half of the game. Ik i just wrote a whole paragraph that will change nobody's mind on how good ragnarok is, but honestly, even if ragnarok is better than 2018, it is not by much at all.
I’d love to see you review the Bayonetta games! The second is when it started getting really good. While they are Platinum games, they made me feel nostalgic for first trilogy God of War and totally hold up gameplay-wise (imo)
From a Norse mythology and gameplay perspective; I'm disappointed. Several bosses I was looking forward to in the same vein as the previous games are either omitted or turned to allies. No Tyr fight, Heimdall is beyond strange and the hand-wavy "No thinking" excuse doesn't work, Fafnir is relegated to a side quest in 2018, Ullr is nowhere to be seen, as is Hrym. Surtr is an ally who sits off screen as we fight a couple of a previously used bosses. Thor and Garm were the closest things to what I wanted from the game. Well, Fenrir was what I wanted, but we had to have that weird possession thing with "Fenrir" after. Say what you will about the simplistic writing and often-times botched accuracies to the mythos, but rarely did the previous games leave you wanting in terms of it's roster of boss battles. The norse games' writings make for a great deconstruction of Kratos, but you had to do all this "calming the rage" arc in the 2nd most violent mythology, and banish a good chunk of potentially amazing fights to friendly NPCs cause you took a pillar of the mythos and fan-fic him to be the son of the main character? I don't want to imagine what would happen if they tried to do an Aztec/Mayan game next. Kratos would sit down with his grandson Huitzilopochtli and talk at Camazotz during a 5 minute cutscene after fighting his Generic Rock Monster Boss 6 and 7 stand-ins
The game has the best bosses in the series what you on about? Thor 1, garm, hrist and mist, nidhogg. What comes with scale is that you’re not actually fighting the character you’re fighting fingernails and crab legs in gow 3.
@@juwyjewy652 if you read; I said Garm is the exception, as it’s a Fenrir fight in all but name. And Fighting Poseidon’s hippocampi is a hell of a lot closer to fighting him than Fighting Surtr’s Soul Eater 6 and 7 stand-ins
@@juwyjewy652 The same reason you fight Typhon in GoW 2, Kill Icarus in GoW 2, Fight Cronos and Gaia in GoW 3. Fuck, you fight Garm who’s basically Fenrir, down to the lore of being a ravenous rampaging monster who ate literal concepts, and there were few who hated the gods as much as Fenrir.
@@RetroWrathX13B all of those characters are villains though. It wouldn’t make sense to fight surtr. Lol if you wanted to fight surtr thats fine but they gotta keep it consistent with the lore.
Despite it’s flaws, Ragnarok to me personally has the biggest, hard hitting emotional moments in the entire series. In my opinion, Kratos seeing Faye’s shrine and seeing that Faye always believed he could become a true god of peace and prosperity, a hero. That really brought the entire franchise together for me and if Kratos’ storyline ended there and he only appeared in future God of War games as a cameo or side character, I wouldn’t mind that at all. His transformation from the Ghost of Sparta to a hero has been nothing short of beautiful to see. I do have issues with the narrative and gameplay, some that even could’ve been remedied in a third installment, making this a trilogy instead of a duology, but the 2 titles we received have been nothing short of amazing tales and a wonderful spin on the God of War franchise. This game alone made me fall in love with the OG trilogy all over again and it completed 2018 where I felt that game was missing something to me. Ragnarok was the missing piece.
@@leonardocosta6038 I just want to know one thing when did they turn it to a duology was it at the start of ragnarok's production or like halfway through it?
there were TWO scenes that made me have a "WTF moment" Scene One: Kratos, Mimir and Atreus arrive at Sindri and Brok's house. Everyone retreats to their rooms to regroup and rest. Kratos and Mimir go into one room and Mimir asks "so, What now, brother?" and camera pans-out and Kratos is closing the door whilst looking back over his shoulder at Mimir... very out of character. Scene Two: Surter basically talked himself into letting Kratos stab him in the chest w the primordial fire... it felt was very rushed and counter to the very fleshed-out,rest of the game. That being said, better than 2018. 9/10 for me
Somehow I found hrolf to be harder than Gna I don't know if it was my lack of skill or just luck but it took me twice as long to beat him than Gna. Also love your content man keep it up.
Personally after platinuming it and definitely quite some hours I thought the game was pretty good but not as world breaking as people said. Also wish some realms especially Asgard could be explored more. Still had a good time tho and great video my guy 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Having this a trilogy wouldn't have worked, kratos development of being a better person and father comes to a awesome conclusion in this game, there wouldnt be a lot you could do with him the third game if the focus was still on ragnarok. Also having the third game just being the fall of asgard would have been lame as hell.
The menu in Ragnarok alone was a problem, poorly executed and overly complicated for no reason. How can you not see that? The 2018 game was better in many ways, but that's not to say I did not enjoy it, but it felt like a 1.5 to me.
After 100% completing Ragnarok I went back to 2018 for a minute and I noticed every little thing that Ragnarok improved immediately. Feels so much better and it's kinda hard going back to gow2018 after the absolute banger that Ragnarok was
@MayorHairBear 2018 has a few more big and dramatic set pieces. Balder 1 makes the build to balder 2 and its over the Top action much better. Thor 1 implies a much more intense second or third fight later on and while Thor 2 isn't a bad fight it feels much less intense. I get from the narrative it had to be smaller but from a video game perspective the finale of ragnarok needed to be bigger and more over the top TO PLAY. Again as a narrative it worked wonderfully but as a playable set piece it pales next to the Garm build up and the opening hour
Overall, I liked it. The combat was an improvement over the 2018 game, even if it still retains some of its issues. I found Thor and his family dilemma to be the best part of the game. The Kratos/Freya section and the journey that came with it was also dope. However, the wack-as-fuck pacing, uninteresting side quests, boring Atreus sections, lack of truly 'wow' moments (outside of the first Thor boss fight), terrible 'modernized' dialogue and underwhelming conclusion held the game back. I'd say it's about on the same level as GoW 2018, though for different reasons. Still doesn't come close to touching the quality of the original trilogy.
I agree with pretty much everything, except for the side-quest I actually thought the side-quest were amazing and they were far superior than any game I have played before. (Also I haven't played the original trilogy so I can't comment on that) (Edit 2: There were some more wow moments for me: The lyngbakr, getting surprised by gna, the hafgufa's, the finisher with Kratos and Atreus as a bear and Brok's funeral (the riddle))
The side quests were good and acc felt important compared to 2018's, so i disagree strongly on that point. There were plenty of wow moments, like the thor and heimdall fight, the two valkry fight near the end, when you put freyr over your back and cut through hordes of enemies and even stuff like the depressing dreams kratos haves is chilling just because of the music, so i disagree strongly again Your modernized dialogue point is just a strange complaint and is just kinda wrong, you are grasping at straws at this one. The conclusion was great, kratos has finished his development of becoming at better person and not just some killing machine that the gods and his anger for them made. Atreus has finally found what his purpose is and both him and kratos have learned to move on and let go of lost ones together. The game is really good when you understand whats going on, but ig you just want another mindless hack and slash 🤷♀
@@Aidan977 Depends on what you see as the conclusion. If you mean the conclusion as Kratos his personal development, I agree its pretty good. But when you see Ragnarok as the conclusion of the story, its kinda underwhelming, Freyr dieing felt unneccesarry and while running through the hordes of enemies I was constantly thinking "is this it" luckily the 2 fights at the end save it, yet I feel like just in 2018 the ending didn't do justice to the rest of the game.
Yeah, with the exception of Atreus segments and the absence of continuity with 2018's GOW big plot points, like who blew the horn and modi (I suspect he was alive after atreus stabbed him)
If there was ever a better character to show others that vengeance, blind rage and showing no mercy isn't the way, it's Kratos. All it ever got him was a dead wife and daughter who's ashes are still fused to his skin, several painful trips to Hades, a whole pantheon of gods killed and the ultimate destruction of Greece.
It was just awesome seeing Kratos actually finally win... It also brings up another point... If Kratos would've hit Thor in the head with that 🪓 ? There would've been no more Thor🤯
GOW Ragnorok feels like a story of a bit of naive ambition. With a name like “Ragnorok” I felt like there should have been more spectacle and buildup. For example (SPOILER) When brok dies, all of kratos’s allies seek to build armies. This seems to happen way too easy. The elves just agree to a truce, hellhiems army is covered, and everything happens too quick. Instead of us playing through all those story points, everything is rushed into the end. It feels like Santa Monica wanted to flush out this story entirely, but with only one game. However it feels like in the development of this game everything was finished before ragnorok itself. Every story beat, including the final moments of the story, hits like a truck; except ragnorok itself. The story is great, but the way the story flows into “the war to end all wars” feels like writing down a word on a page with the first letters being big, and each subsequent letter getting smaller and smaller as it approach the end of the page.
God Of War Ragnarok is as good as my opinion says it is. Your copy is as good as your opinion says it is too. Its not a perfect game but I enjoyed most of the sixty hours it took me to complete the story. Edge goes to GOW 2018 for the way it totally changed the game and made me interested in a series I didn't much care for before then
I swear, your 5000 subscriber special feels like just yesterday. Congratulations on everything you've achieved. It's amazing to see these videos - which you clearly put a lot of effort into, finally getting some of the recognition they deserve. Keep doing what you're doing and I know you'll achieve even greater!
hardly anyone is even talking about GOWR anymore. pretty much tells you all you need to know. if you like it, this isn't a personal attack. its an objective fact that the game doesn't have a ton of replayability
That stupid mask. Why they made it a lynchpin for the main villain but never bothered to give a glimpse of what was behind it was a grave misstep. Odin did everything for that mask. Ragnarok, the actual event, is eclipsed, in the end by his desire for the mask but we know absolutely nothing about it. What is it? What exactly is behind it? And after all he did to get it, all it took to undo the flimsy thing was breaking it in half and watch it disappear behind that 'green tear' thing. And that was it. So why was Odin in the game? When all is said and done, what purpose did he serve? The comparisons to Zeus are inevitable and boy was he leagues above and beyond grandpa 'give me my mask'.
Odin was in the game because he: Imprisoned mimir in a tree for 115 years. Banished Freya to Midgard and manipulated her son to his eventual death. Killed ymir the first giant and watched his blood nearly drown all other giants. Oppresses all the other realms with einherjar. Murdered groa because she told him the truth. Sent magni and modi to their deaths. Kills Thor. Attempts to kill third. Beat kratos in a fight fair and square. Manipulated Atreus as tyr so that he would run away to Asgard. Odin would have won if it wasn’t for brok. Zeus got possessed by a box and got dominated by a weaker kratos in a fight. Yea I don’t see the comparison.
I also thought the ending felt a tad rushed, which is funny because the game has very slow pacing otherwise, not that I did mind. And I agree with your rating, God of War 2 to me is just the most solid experience from beginning to end and the one I am most likely to replay still, but the newer games are still knockouts. And I don't know about Ragnarok being the better game, I still am incredibly partial to Sigrun and she still remains the best boss battle in the series for me and one of my favorite ever boss fights, nothing in Ragnarok tops it imo. Ok in hindsight Ragnarok is a better game in everything but Sigrun still is my favorite part about the 2 games. Great video and loved that you really enjoyes the game as much as I did.
That is funny isn't it, I don't mind the pacing but yeah, the pay off isn't as well executed as I'd like. I've heard Sigrun is great but you gotta evaluate the whole package 😂 Glad you enjoyed the video mate!
I enjoyed the game but it was nowhere near as good as people claim it to be. It was pretty much “meh” throughout the entire game. Definitely not game of the year contender worthy.
@@MayorHairBear the thing that’s confusing for me is where does Sindri’s character go from here? Like I heard that Cory Barlog wants to move the series to another mythology like Ancient Egyptian (which is cool af), but I hope we meet Sindri again or other characters. I’m intrigued to see what happens next and how long we will have to wait for that. Since Barlog has stated he wants to make other games not just GoW
Yeah I didn’t buy that he died when it first happened, I thought for sure we’d revive him, until I noticed Lunda took his in-game role which started to make me doubt then I fully accepted he was dead once the funeral went around.
@@morbincentral3607 Subtleties? LMAO you people crack me up. Ragnarok is a game that unironically took all of 2018 world building and slapped a "fake information, don't worry about it" label on it. This game's story is a complete joke.
It's taken me awhile to process this but Gow Ragnarök is a good game or arguably great game, despite my nit picks. I think it would've been amazing or even a masterpiece had the Ragnarök segment not have been rushed and short. It could've hugely benefited with 1-2 more hours. That's really my main disappointment.
Broks death had some impact but why did they have us go to the inn first before his funeral? His corpse is literally just dumped on a table with no fanfare there! No flowers, no wrapping, no nothing! Just ridiculous, I couldn't take it seriously.
I got 4 problems with this game. 1: some dialogues is pure cringe. 2: has some intense pacing issues. Like 90% of ironwood and that "Tour" through Asgard. But Kratos both got more and longer missions that offers awesome side content. And all Atreus missions were pretty short... Well except for ironwood. 3: Unfair attacks in combat made by some enemies. Although it's not anywhere near that many unfair attacks from some enemies. 4: the game is so extremely easy till' ironwood on ng+. I had to nerf myself to lvl 8 for the first two missions then go up one lvl when i got to alfheim. Then after ironwood the game became perfectly difficult again. Other than that, great game 8 - 9/10 game. One of my personal favorite games.
The new god of war games are garbage, they are Sony formulaic playable films. The story, gameplay and everything about both games are cut and dry, and generic.nothing about these games is god of war. Kratos is a filler character that feels like the god of being pathetic and weak, not only in gameplay combat but through demasculization and character destruction. In both games you fight recycled boring generic enemy’s, and you fight zero memorable bosses. Every boss is a troll, a flying fairy or when you fight a real boss it’ll be ordinary people. Tf is so bad about Thor and Odin, this is what it feels like to be a god fighting gods now? Sad that they did so much more on a ps2 than they do on ps5. I can go on And on. No replayability , a pretend linear restricted open world. 70% of the game being cutscenes and walking. 15% of the game being generic enemy wave fights or recycled bosses. It’s a crime to charge people that have a ps5 for these crap exclusives. A game like this should be 30$ at full price if not included with the subscription. That would change everything then this game being this ass would be excusable. Imagine paying 125$ for these 2 games when they first release, thinking your getting 80h of total gameplay. Only to find out you paid that much for a cringe ass 40h indie movie and 30 hours of walking, looting, 2iq problem solving and draugger fighting. Stop hyping this pretentious dogshit please it’s hit the standard for modern day gaming which is so low games like fortnite and dead by daylight are in the upper echelon of gaming. 10 years ago all these games including Dad of Bore would have been trolled out of existence

GOWR and GOW 2018 is Like HZD and HFW The sequels of these games do Most Things Better But The Previous games had more of an impact and had better Story telling
If they just had cut 2 of the 3 times you have to ride the animal, and maybe split ironwood into 2 parts I think it would've been better. But that is the only section of the game that is tedious imo.
In Norse the 'ei' is like the 'ai' in stain, not like heim in Deutsche albeit both come from Proto-Germanic *Haimaz, as does English 'ham' in place names.
The only part I disagree with is the characters droning on. Imo it’s one of the best parts of the game just listening to them banter with each other and flesh out this interesting world. The performances as well are great so for me it’s one of my favourite aspects of Ragnarök
As someone who is a victim of childhood abuse and manipulation, I knew from the getgo Odin was using and abusing Atreus, it's very clear if you've faced abuse before. Gaslighting, uncertainty in words/behaviour. Feigned threats or threats that are never delivered on, there's a lot to unpack with how Odin treats others. What SM did with Odin is...scarily, frighteningly realistic. To others who haven't faced abuse, like you said he seemed likeable, and you didn't think he was upto anything, but that's exactly what narcissists want you to believe.
Your conclusion almost matches mine (I did not mind the fast pace at the end) :) I do prefer both Gow 2018 and Ragnarök over at least 3 tho, as for me the emotional impact of the writing and acting just hits so much harder and overall I prefer TPS over hack n slash. III is great regarding the boss fight density tho, that game had very little fat :D
Who else thinks Surtr’s sacrifice was pointless? They ultimately ended up defeating Odin without the use of Ragnarok because they decided last minute they don’t wanna go down the destruction route… Also Atreus is unbearable in this game sorry
