Is good 1080p video possible with Panasonic small sensor bridge cameras?

You made such a difference in my fz300 in setup. But now that I have the g85 there’s no one on this planet 🌎 that can setup like you do. Waiting for the g85 to be setup from you. Stay healthy and keep them coming.

Graham, Excellent video as always. If you are looking for a new video idea - I would find an explanation of shutters and when to use useful - my TZ80 has three options auto, mechanical and electronic.

Can a Lumix FZ-70 film at night (assuming there is porch security lights on continuously in front of my house). I have 3 porch LED lights at 5,000 lumen each, which is bright in front of my house. I have the AC adapter for constant power, no battery needed. I use a GoPro Jaws clamp attached to my bedroom windowsill to mount it point through my bedroom window to film my driveway. Do I just turn the dial setting to " Video AE" and ISO to auto?

Where do you find the image stabilisation in the menu to turn it off or in. Anybody? or crickets 🦗?

Thanks Graham. Some great info there. But as far as I could see, none of the sample vids were any good as far as smooth and steady? And I take it, you simply don't use the singular video record button?

Graham...do you undertake simple repairs.? I have TZ70 ... the last section of the zoom has come off having been dropped .. if I can't fix it following your videos would you be interested in doing it ..?

I noticed the colour saturation or white balance seemed to change when you turned on EIS , any idea why ?

Hello Graham I have Panasonic cameras and thought 1080 50p requires a shutter of 1/100 to achieve 180 degree rule. Please advise as confused regarding 25 frames 1/50th shutter.I do shoot in AVCHD more or less all the time.Only occasionally MP4.

Yes with the 180degree shutter rule you double the frame rate to get the shutter speed. The higher the frame rate the smoother any motion in the video will look. The downside is the bigger file size and the demands on video editing. Frame rates are about feel and motion. This is a choice based upon your subject matter and delivery needs.

@@GrahamHoughton12 Thanks Graham thought I had it all mixed up but Panasonic Cameras/Camcorders I have appear to go to 1/50th default in IA modes even in 1080 50p so is the default filming at 25fps PAL ? I have always been confused by this and my basic iMovie editing only tells me when I use US format of 60fps.Otherwise just states 1080.Good videos I always watch as mainly use Panasonic. Many thanks JP

Thanks for the video Graham. I was under the impression that shooting at 1080 50P/60P was better that 1080 25P/30P. Yet you only mention the 25P/30P. Is there an advantage to using 50P/60P as I thought?

The higher the frame rate the smoother the resulting video but if you use the 180 degree shutter rule you loose 1 extra stop of light and in low light that might be a problem for some scenes.

@@GrahamHoughton12 Graham, Point noted about the exposure loss. Before seeing your videos, when shooting with my camcorder, I wasn't aware of the 180 degree rule. So I mostly ignored any relationship between the frame rate and the shutter speed, and let the ISO fall where it may. I was just aiming for correct exposure. I'll try shooting at 30P 1/60 sec (for non action scenes, of course) to see how I like it. An extra stop could avoid needlessly raising the ISO ... and the noise.
