Sadly the same can't be said for the rest of his animations. That duel made it pretty clear that Nakai is meant to be a chaff-beater.

I mean if it was real, I wonder who would win? They both have such strong skin.

Also Nakai is by far the best when it comes to fighting hordes of infantry, I wonder how many zombies it would take to best him. Please test this.

@@pjadtron9415 Grimgor is the main Orc character in the setting. Nakai isn't the main Lizardman, so plot armor rules that Grimgor would win that fight.

Pang Jack no as none of the dwarf lords were famous the realms over for 1v1jng every major person they ever met, claiming they were Da Best, uniting every tribe with pure power or kicking Archaon and his balls into submission

@@justinemery2194 Grimgor lost to Archaon's general.....he came in and beat Archaon in a 3v1 but wasn't capable of beating archaon 1v1.

@@justinemery2194 well some of them were famous for blitzing into battle killing everything in the path, i think in the lore Grombrindal would show up and slaughter entire greenskin armies to save dwarfs stuck in bad situations

Even with these buffs, I don't want to pick Grimgor. A slow footlord with no magic, who is melee-only and has no impactful attack animations. And mediocre leadership to boot so when his slow ass gets surrounded and ganked, he'll flee the field and trigger a mass rout.

I definitely agree, and even in this fight Vlad could have potentially won, if he wasn't controlled by the AI that is... He used the Von Carstein Ring at the same time as he debuffed Grimgor to ground. The 90% dmg resistance is kinda wasted when the enemy's melee attack is only 6.

I often think people overestimate Vlad's tankiness. Once a good monstrous gooner like Karl Franz sets his eye on him, he melts nicely. As a footlord, he eats ability boosted charges to face all day.

Tbh I'm wondering why he didn't deselect all spells and abilities to see how they fought on total base forms/stats for a more consistent test

To be fair vampires got a really good rework, so its a really solid faction now even with the dlc power creep

He probably could've won it if the AI used its abilities correctly. No point in a 90% ward save while your enemy is hitting for like 7 damage.

@@bruhbruh4329 yeah, some of the fights would go differently if the human player was controlling Grimgor's adversary instead. Still, that "your next" ability may need a bit of a larger cooldown. Using it twice in the same fight is pretty dominating, and kind of takes away from the outplay potential of CC'ing him when he casts it and trying to keep your distance while the ability is working.

I mean, the vampires got some new generic and improved basic lords. But you talk as if they got a buff. Invocation of nehek got that massive nerf to only 3 units, not that that matters here. Their core mechanics didn't really get improved upon at all, other than maybe free skeletons. The makers have mentioned that they want a way to incorporate all the other lords easier into the players faction, much like the mod that lets them join you if their faction gets wiped out. When that happens, no ones going to use those fancy blood line lords all that long when that have a large roster of legendary lords.

Why not try a mounted Luthor Harkon? He's one of the best duelists because he cheats and fires his pistol while also hitting with his melee attacks, it effectively doubles his damage.

The fact that the AI was controlling the other lord meant Grimgor always had the upper hand. Like you said, the AI just randomly spams their abilities instead of using them in the right time.

That's because Archaon's army was exterminated by a helstorm doomstack while on route to the fight.

Grimgor does get huge buffs with gitsnik and his new abilities but pretty sure he also has an ability that decreases the enemies MD by 40

@@findknightthesecond4317 Yeah, I get that BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT if you'd watch from 17:13 until 17:36, you can see clearly Tyrion's & Grimgor stat lines. the debuff was worn off already. Tyrion did like 7 hits but only landed 2 bringing Grimgor's hp from 2100 to 1527. Even after (17:36) Tyrion's healing worked, buffing Tyrion's MA to 83, (83 KARL!!!) Grimgor's HP is NOT FALLING. Yes, he ended up with 672hp left but Tyrion missed like 10-12 hits without new debuff. Rolls were on Grimgor's side 100% as I said above.

If you put him on a Mammoth he will probably knock him around too much like Settra on the Warsphinx, on foot it probably would be a fair fight, with Grimgor slightly winning.

Without AP, Wulfrik is no match for him; maybe the sword of Torgald should have some.

@@FhargaZ It is really a bummer, wulfrik being "the challanger", being cursed by his gods to challange all the great fighters in the world, the ultimate duelist, and they don't even give him some AP. Really disappointing.

@@amrkotb8464 They do yeah. But they time them beyond horrendously. Vlad activating his damage resist at the same time as debuffing grimgor for example. He could also debuff him first, wait that out. Then activate the damage resist. Would yield a far better result.

Bordeleaux is a double pun, being just the french city of Bordeaux but without the contraction and being next to the ocean like the real city, and that goes for litterally all bretonnian cities and regions apart from Couronne.

cuz it shows he can actually duel large lords now. the 2 ways to kill grimgor usta be ignore him and inflict army losses, and cycle charge him and knock him around. his new abilities and mass really helps those weaknesses but they dont fix it. while still being slow it shows that he can duel anyone and nearly anything. also greenskins getting alot more slow effects really helps them with catching lords with missle pieces and their slow monsters. i think grimgor double giant is a hard matchup for counts now, grimgor being able to duel anything and giants not letting counts double or triple team him as easily

Also, his insane melee defence.

Meh. He has a better chance then most of the large model lords, like durthu or kholek.

I like going up against Grimgor in the campaign, he is predictable and dies to missiles ... there are other Lords I fear far more.

Cycle charge and kite that schlub from one end of the old world to the other.

@@findknightthesecond4317 I don't think so. That moment when he roar at your face is the worst. He has chance to get staggered by monstrous lords. And takes damage way to easily while doing that. And he doesn't always hit the mark after that

That's far from OP my man, he's basically on even grounds with the toughest lords now. A few of those fights could have gone either way due to misses and such.

@@rovers141 It all depends on the price tag (at least in multiplayer). If Grimgor can spank a 3k lord for only a 2k investment then he's strong.

@@jabloko992 but lords aren't everything, obviously you aren't meant to send out a wizard lord into the fray, grimgor is still susceptible to his weakness he always had and that's being snipped from range. This just more makes him respectable as a melee LL. Though lords with mounts can still bully him

@@joedatius Evidently not, as you can see, Louen tried and failed to cycle-charge bully him. Now only truly monstrous mounts will let them do that, like Necropshinxes and Mammoths. Manticores and Gryphs will no longer cut it. Also, which legendary lord ISN'T vulnerable to being sniped from range? Maybe the Warp Chicken with his 60% missile resistance.

@@jabloko992 you're assuming he won't be 3k in the update. His new skills will most likely also come with a price. But if I was concerned about multiplayer (which im not, not even a little bit) I would be more worried about how strong the new greenskin lord will be, and if all the greenskin changes as a whole will unbalance things further. The new guy starts on a chariot, so his superior speed and charge bonus without having to spend money on a mount will already be a pretty big deal.

In SFO hes like the size of two and half orc boys. Dwarves barely go above his ankle.

He stated that he did try Archaeon and it wasn't even close - Grimgor destroyed him so it wasn't worth showing. Ungrim is just straight up weaker than Grombrindal in a 1v1 vs a foot lord so no point - Ungrim's strength lies in his bonus vs large. Gotrek might be one to watch - he's got better abilities to take on Grimgor but his lack of armour will mean he'll feel every blow that lands very hard (especially when Grimgor lowers his MD). Gotrek like Ungrim is balanced around his bonus vs large so he'll likely also struggle against Grimgor, but whether his abilities help him out enough needs to be tested.

To be fair the Empire's whole shtick is to not have the strongest of any one category but be solid in all of them. Not to mention the fact that they're medieval humans in a universe with immortal beings, 8 ft tall lizards, dark god worshippers who all look like Arnold in the 80's, and house sized orcs like Grimgor.

It's logic, they are only mere humans after all, even their best warriors are inherently inferiors to those of others races. The simple fact humans still exist in this world is more due to the evil factions being as much a nuisance for themselves as for humans which keeps them from running over human nations in a week

They're the best at summoning the elector counts, tho.

But that's kind of the point though. They're not the strongest in any one area but they have the most versatile arsenal. That's how they were on tabletop, and that's how they play in the game.

As others have pointed out; Empire is the best all-round, but master of none. You’re never gonna have a duellist that can beat Grimgor, nor will your infantry beat black orks, but you will out-shoot with huntsmen / handgunners, outflank with superior cavalry, out-blast with more diverse magic... Empire is about bringing the right tools to make up for their deficiencies.

orangesilver8 No. I heard what he said, only an ability, no buff in statistics, and the abilities of Tyrion are not well managed, because he is played as the ai.

@@xSurfuel2 he has more mass as well, just so he isnt constantly knocked down. now in multiplayer he will most likely lose ti tyrion but in campaign grimgor will still win since he will have his big waaahg ability

Jaiden Dunn So that’s what I was saying, probably it goes 60-40 for Tyrion dueling in multi, very close but Tyrion is not worse than Grimgor by any means

@@Rolgi Did they ever say anything about a patch for either of them? They certainly need love but then they a reWH1 DLC race that not everyone going into mortal empires will have. Also all the WH2 dlc have had at least WH2 race. Not saying that can't happen but seems unlikely. I honestly think Skaven just because we are missing Clan Moulder, one of the big 4 clans that have the most unique units left and easy mechanic lore for their genetic labs and a famous Skaven in Throt the Unclean. Also Skaven are 1 of the 2 original WH2 races that have no 6th LL, the other being DE but they don't have good rivalries left. Skaven at least have a rival in Dwarfs.
