Micheal Poulson's fast vibrato will drive you absolutely crazy. Check out Volbeat Fallen. He wrote that song to his father who passed away. It brings tears to my eyes with some of the things he says.
I feel like reaction channels are the best thing to happen for metal in the past 10 years. It's great to see so many folks realize how good this music i love is \,,/
Ye its like for ages we've been preaching to everyone we like metal not because we are angry emotional unstable ppl who like to break things but because the music is actually great, then suddenly ppl who really understand about music stopped to listen to the songs instead of immediately dismissing them as noise and went "wait a minute, this is rather genius, these ppl are all great musicians, why haven't anyone told that to me before ?" lol.
@@maggiereneemusic i probably wont be. I got work. I wish you luck tho. Last time you streamed the audio was out of sync and there was a lot of video freezing. I still enjoyed the stream though.
It's hard to say which is the best live version of this song. If you listen to the one from 1982 He's almost 20 years younger and hasn't had throat cancer, but his technique isn't as polished. With this version it sounds to me like he has to work for the notes he was hitting with raw talent back in the '80s. Either way, Bruce Dickinson is an amazing talent and not only will his vocals leave your jaw on the floor he'll perform them while running and jumping around the stage.
@@norwegianblue2017 I agree. This performance is good for a band given their age and such, but the 80's version is flawless, regardless of vocal technique.
Bruce's voice is still just as good now!! There's a video out there on you tube with bruce hitting something like a 43 second note!! They don't call Bruce the human air raid siren for nothing!! UP THE IRONS!!!🤘🤘🤘
The drummer (Nicko McBrain) is to day 69 years old, and he's still rocking! Another awesome video is “The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner” (live Flight 666 New Jersey), based from the book from Samuel Taylor Coleridge 1798! Up the Irons and a happy new year to you, greetings from Munich!
I cracked 3 ribs getting pressed up against the stage at my second Iron Maiden concert in 1986, been to 4 more since. They always bring that energy and I swear they get more energetic the older they get. Best metal band of all time. Also Bruce held the world record for the longest note held for a little while.
my 14 year older brother was to his first maiden concert on the somewhere in time tour...I was on my first in 99 or so...the one before the brave new tour...been to 11 more since then...their live shows are so fun.
Iron Maiden had alot of great songs. Bruce Dickinson is still an amazing singer. His solo album was really good. My all time fav song by Bruce was Tears of the dragon.
Iron Maiden are still going strong and released a new album in 2021. Have been a fan since the 80's and like a good wine they just get better with age. Up the Irons!!
Bruce's voice is, essentially, indestructible; he sounds just as strong at the end of the concert. Not easy for a guy singing D2 - C6... C6 is "Wrathchild". D2 is "Book of Thel".
Have seen this vid. Live in 82 Hammersmith has better vocals. (Best concert for overall sound on any song. Still early in their career, so not a huge selection of hits). The intro might be like Hells Bells, maybe? 250K in attendance here. The audience always sings along on every song. I've been to 27 (best guess) shows. My suggestions include Wasted Years, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Aces High, Powerslave, & the Number of the Beast for starters.
I don’t think I’ve ever been so entertained by a reaction video. You’re very knowledgeable, you have SO MUCH energy and an AWESOME personality! (And it goes without saying that you’re easy on the eyes). You’ve earned a new subscriber!
Absolutely an amazing song, but my all time favourite is Infinite dreams. Afraid to shoot strangers certainly is my number two. That guitar, holy smoke! I always play that part so loud! Ah, they have SO much amazing stuff!
Totally agree with @pappajudas (5 months ago). I’ve never been huge into Iron Maiden as much as I was into other bands, but it just so happened that EVERY single boyfriend I had was a die hard Iron Maiden fan. I do seriously appreciate their amazing talents though. Not just Bruce Dickinson’s vocals but the entire band! They are all MASTERS of their instruments! I’m pretty sure I heard or read somewhere that Bruce had some classical voice training, possibly even some opera? I’m sure your die hard Maiden fans can tell us. In any case, I love watching your reactions, how positive you are and how excited you get hearing new amazing music. Min 19:05 to 19:25 of you perfectly says it all! Keep it up!
yep. you've heard of them, but for most people they were never in the front as a favorite band, and many can go "mmm i'm trying to remember what songs they did" Oh we listened to Aerosmith, AC/DC, Led, bla bla bla and you go oh Iron Maiden i've heard of them of course, a song.. mmmmm.
Bruce was also a national class fencer which of course lends itself to a high degree of fitness. Bruce's master's degree in history also has had a major influence on much of the writing content within many of the songs. This track is from the first LP with bruce as lead singer. The 1st 2 LP's had paul dianno on lead vocals. Liked the reaction alot Maggie!
I'm an American who lived in London from (summer) '64 to (late spring) '78. In that time, I saw many a great many wonderful bands. I was witness to one of the earliest performances (Oct. '68, Marquee Club) of a band who (a few months after) would change their name from The NEW YARDBIRDS to LED ZEPPELIN. It was while living in East London (Stratford) that I discovered a local band called IRON MAIDEN; they became the "house" band at a Pub called The Cart and Horse. Only Steve Harris remains from the earliest days (Dave Murray joined a bit later). It's amazing to see, all these years later, that I.M. is STILL going strong AND getting BIGGER!! I'm still a MAIDEN fan and Hammers supporter. UP THE IRONS!!
This is my favorite band. The most influential metal band in the history of metal. Hallowed be thy name is the best heavy metal song ever... also dang by other genres of metal. Thanks for reacting to this song 🙏👍🤟🤟🌹 Bruce Dickinson is the best metal singer out e. You have to react to his song ...Tears if the Dragon..to check out his vocals... awesome 🤟🤟 trust me you won't be disappointed 👍👍🤟🤟. It's his solo career. Thank you very much ❤️🌹🙏. Cool reaction to this song Maggie as usual...your are absolutely amazing 👌🤩🌹❤️👍🤟🤟
I hope you checked the live version of Tears of the dragon by Bruce Dickinson with Tribuzy ... live in Brazil..lol 😆🙏👍🤟🌹❤️. Sorry to bother you Maggie.. oops 🙏. Take care of yourself and be safe and be happy 😊👍🤟 always 🙏. Thank you ❤️🌹
Actually it wasn't throat cancer, it was on the roof of the mouth. It was after this concert, and he still sings incredibly well. He has had voice lessons, and from his generation of metal singer is the one that has best preserved his singing capacity and actually improved it in many ways. He was in the studio recording when he noticed it first. By far the best frontman in this genre.
This was the encore at the end of a nearly 2 hour set, they played one more song after this (Sanctuary), and then did an “encore encore” of Run To The Hills after that! I dare say they could’ve gone another hour even after that, Bruce was in his vocal prime here (in his 40s). He had all the power and range of his 20s, coupled with the maturity of experience. He still has the power and range now in his 60s, but his voice sits a little deeper now than it used to, and he has to push a little harder for those high notes. But he can still hit them. There’s an audio clip of Bruce from 2003 (I think), he holds a 40 second note and he wasn’t even singing a part of the song, he was doing a “call and response” with the crowd. He literally held a long note as a challenge to the crowd. For the sheer hell of it.
Bruce has been doing his thing for around 40 years. He's also had and recovered from throat cancer. He's a warrior. He can't quite hit as high of a note as he used to be able to, but you've got to love him.
I saw them FRONT ROW in 1984, and it is still the best show that I’ve ever seen! I also saw them on the tour from this video and they were still just as great!
Great reaction and analysis, Miss Rene. This performance is before his throat cancer. If you'd like to hear something from when he had it, then anything off of the Book of Souls album is where to go. Songs like If Eternity Should Fail, Death Or Glory, Empire of the Clouds (Their longest song), Valley of the Shadows, any of those. Still a wonderful performance. Can't wait to see your next reaction to them.
@@maggiereneemusic No ma'am, probably not, but I hope you have a wonderful time and I always love when a new vid pops up in my timeline. Always a pleasure.
I saw them live in 2006 and in 2016 and they were just as good as they are here if not better, they are one of the best metal bands to actually see live
Well, Bruce leased it through his aviation company. But it was for long enough for them to give it their own paint job. That was for The Book of Souls World Tour in 2016-2017. Most impressively, he regained his Airline Transport Pilot's Licence medical post-cancer-treatment and re-rated for the 747-400 to captain it. Most airline pilots with his ratings are retired by his age, so he has to renew every 6 months and it is a very exhaustive and (for most) exhausting medical - like running on the treadmill with a 12 lead ECG hooked up and a facemask to measure VO2MAX type exhausting. The earlier tour was on a 757 in 2008-2009 and for much of both airborne tours they were given the Flight 666 designation and most ATC facilities recognised the callsign Ed Force One.
Just found you, holy cheese muffins! Beautiful! Welcome to the Mighty Maiden. They’ve been rockin this since ‘83 or so. The ‘87 or so live version of this is epic. As is Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner. Even after the big C Bruce is epic. And oh yeah he’s a commercial pilot (and piloted one of their world tours) and brews epic beers that are sold commercially, among other things.
You've just touched the top of the iceberg with this band.... Hit After Hit.. And are way better LIVE.. 😁 I look forward to seeing you become a Maiden fan in the coming months !!! 👹🤘🤘👹
The most impressive thing of this performance (and of that “GOD BE WITH YOU!”) is that Bruce delivered it at the end of a 1h30 concert and with a vocal line so hard because it’s fast and constantly high. In the original recording he didn’t do the octave jump.
i have been to more than 200 live shows with all kinds of different bands over the world, but Iron Maiden is by far one of the most fun and epic experiences you can have as an audience member. Never a dull moment with Iron Maiden live!
Hey Maggie!! Bruce is not just a singer. He's also an esgrimist, history teacher and a pilot in grade of captain of international airlines!! He pilots the jet of the band.
Look at The Trooper by Iron Maiden and or Aces High. Oh Powerslave, Wasted Years, or Two Minutes to Midnight. All great songs. They have so many songs to list. Another band to react to Judas Priest. Try the song Halls of Valhalla Or Dio song Heaven and Hell live or the song Last in Line
Have seen Iron Maiden twice. By far the most energetic show I have ever been to. They give it their all and make sure everyone has a good time. Would love to see them again. Hallowed be thy name is also my favorite song by them! Thank you for reaching to this song.
I have to chuckle watching these reaction vids. I was 13 when this was released and my friends and I would challenge each other over how long we could each hold, "Running Low".
Bruce was diagnosed/treated for the cancer in 2015, so this 2001 Rio concert was ~14 years previous. If you want to see how it affected his voice, check out 'Writing on the Wall' from the album Senjutsu
Miss Renee I must say you appear to be an ultimate future fan of Iron Maiden. I have seen this band only a couple of times but as I sit here watching this video with you it reminds me of the very first time I saw them in 1985 in Florida and then again in 2003 in Irvine California. I got the chills six times watching this video with you. What are the things I can say to you is that the video is great but the concert is absolutely outstanding to this day after seeing many of the greats all around the country in concert Iron Maiden is the best band I have ever seen. You deserve to treat yourself to an Iron Maiden concert regret will not be a word in your vocabulary after that day. At 56 years old I cannot wait to see them again. Those guys are getting older but they Rock yes they Rock and they have a sound like no other I hope to see more Iron Maiden on your Channel oh, I love to see the look on your face when you're watching them. Please do some of the newer songs off of the last album I can't wait! Oh by the way you are a great singer as well. You just got a new subscriber!
When they toured in the 80's the drummer got the nickname "The Octopus" from other rock and metal drummers. No one had ever seen a drummer with such a huge drum set that actually used all of his drum set. One of the things I absolutely adore about Maiden: All of them are absolute masters at their craft.
I was at this show and it was phenomenal, because bruce dickinson had just returned to the iron maiden and my friends and I agreed to go to this show, just for bruce's return up the irons!!!!
Another fantastic review!!! 🤘 I was one of the many fans of your videos waiting with bated breath for those "key points" throughout the song to see how you would react... those long notes at the beginning and end of the song are where I learned that very breath control you spoke of... You really MUST practice to get it to the point where you can hold and power through those notes lasting for 20 or 30 seconds (or more!) and that only helps to make your singing even better everywhere else...🤘 it proved VERY useful during my dabbling in theater and I became quite sought after for a long time for being able to sing and fill a theatre with sound, learn lines in record time, and to accentuate my visual performance on stage to an audience that ranged into several hundreds ( I think one or two even hit up to over a thousand!) Always keep teaching and learning and sharing with everyone!! 🤘🤘
I’ve been a fan of Iron Maiden since I was 9 thanks to my dad! I’m 21 now and have first saw them live in 2019. They are my absolute favorite band. This band rocks and Bruce can still hit it! So many absolutely amazing songs and storylines with them. No regrets in becoming a metalhead whatsoever 🤘🏼
Book of souls live at download 2016 is a banger but no matter what live track you listen to of maiden they are always on point and kick ass my favourite all time and this was before throat cancer
Bruce was fairly old here, he has done better in his younger years, but this was pretty incredible. So love you noticed Nicko on the drums. One of the best, ever.
at the time of this concert he had been singing this song for over 23 years....so, i say he has done a phenomenal job of taking care of his voice. he is also a polymath.
Bruce is also an international standard fencer and a fully qualified airline pilot, he flew the airliner around the world with the band and all the gear in it !!
You do know that metal isn't "the dark side"? Most metal is actually very "bright". Always "the good over the bad". Remember the meaning of the 🤘. Fight off "the evil eye". You Rock 🤘
This video is not after his cancer. This is from 2001 and he had the cancer in 2015. He's still singing today though, after recovering, but this is well before that.
Please check out iron maiden- empire of the clouds. It's nearly 19 minutes long but it has some of the most beautiful orchestral moments and Bruce (the singer) plays piano on the song. Not only that but he was in very early stages of throat and tongue cancer at the time of recording in 2015 but still sang so beautifully
Though this performance is good, my personal favorite performance is from 1982. That performance is why Bruce is The Human Air Raid Siren. And what makes Hallowed Be Thy Name so special is that it is literally a song about accepting the reality of one's own death -- regardless of whether you are hung, you die in your sleep like Betty White. This song is so lyrically powerful.
They call Bruce a Human Air Raid Siren. He has been singing like this since 1981, and does it running around a stage for 2hrs a night. Hallowed is one of their signature songs and is often played at the end of their set, or during their encore. It is the second song of their encore during this recording, so Bruce has been running around a stage singing for nearly 2hrs when he sang this.
