Is Halo Infinite Finally Worth Playing?

The game is the definition of too little too late, they’re tryna dangle halo staples in front of our face like we didnt get them day one every game since halo 3, 343 had 10 years to cook with halo and they didn’t, it’s time to either rest halo up or get new blood on it

bandit starts is fine, just ar/bandit feels redundant. also, behemoth now spawns enemies closer to you to keep action going but its too chaotic because the map is too open when they spawn so close to you i think the flood mode will be a worthy season.

No, unfortenutely it is not worth playing due to horrible desync and other issues. Just tried playing team slayer, what an unbelievable shit show. Some power weapons don't work or a rocket launcher that just shoots through players, shots don't register and other issues. But that seems to be the norm in this game, especially if you're outside of the US. I could go on, but after 3 times I just left as usual. The only time desync decreases is in the middle of the night, it's disgusting.

This game needs firefight and invasion and lots of old maps

@Arrrash 343 didn't lost a bunch of employee's because their game was under-performing. That...doesn't make sense. Microsoft had to fire various employee's from a handful of different game companies. Some of those being Bethesda and Activision, along with 343. Don't know how you fucked up that bit of research, kind of obvious. : /

Halo Infinite is so trash, I am so annoyed to be a Halo fan right now. I will just be stuck playing MCC until the next Halo game because I refuse to play a Live-Service Halo Game. I wish they ported Halo 5 to PC because I believe that was one of the most re-playable Halo Multiplayer ever.

What current FPS has better gameplay over Halo Infinite??

Kick and one hour ban for anyone who gets last place in a match. They're obviously a bot bootcamp player who has been forced into PVP.

I don't understand why it is so hard to split playlists in a category for Social, Ranked and rotational and display a skill rank next to the ranked playlists. The whole playlist UI is such a mess it feels like a placeholder

They needed to add more social features and pre and post game lobbies to save this game IMO. The social aspects were always the core of the multiplayer, now you can solo que a dozen BTB games and never hear another person on a mic aside from some psycho screaming about how bad everyone is.

This is all great I think it’s just too little too late. There’s not much of a player base anymore. As much as I want to play the new season, I’m Aussie and the only playlist I can find games that aren’t 300+ ping is quick play and it gets very frustrating very quickly having high ping match after match

The UI is so bad they have multiple slayer gametypes all over the place but took out the fun ones even taking out bot bootcamp again so they never learn their lessons.

I've been playing since it launched. Not daily or even weekly. Just when I can. I feel like it's been worth playing but there's more content now and improvements have been made over time.

As soon as i seen there is no progression system when the game launched i knew it was gonna die. I don’t know how you launch a halo game without progression makes zero business and logical sense

I played 2-3 matches with a friend in Ranked Slayer and I was just... done. It's not Halo. Ugly, bland UI. Players fly around the map with lightning speed. Soulless maps that feel like something out of Blacklight Retribution or another futuristic free shooter from the early days of PS4. Hitboxes and hit detection on enemies are so small that it feels like you're shooting at hyperactive sticks instead of these giant spartans. Lacking customization. Everything I learned playing Halo 1-2-3-Reach with a friend on MCC just doesn't work. I don't understand how they spent $500 mil to develop this.

The problem is pretty much everyone hype this up, which dont get me wrong it is a solid update but it is just legacy features like this that doesnt attract any players bc you know its just a mode and a rank. Casual needs a new experience outside of pvp to comback to game, FireFight is a perfect opportunity but instead of relying on leaks i wish they themselves confirm that its coming in season 5.

Halo Infinite will NEVER be worth playing because every update at this point is nothing more than damage control. It's not passion for the game, it's scrambling to get players back. At least with Halo 5 you could feel SOME passion from each update, but with Infinite, it feels like the devs are jingling keys infront of they players faces, and the sad part is it is fucking working.

I'd like to really try out the new season, but ever since the update, the game's been giving me issues. The game's always had technical issues on PC, but it was relatively solid for the Winter Update and Season 3, but when I got season 4, the game would crash before even entering the title screen. Contacted Halo Support about it, they told me that downloading the Hi-Res Texture Pack might fix the issue, and it did. Sucks that 13-14 GB of storage space is being used for something I can't even take advantage of with my PC specs, but whatever. I then ran into another issue; the game's framerate is super choppy, despite it never having this issue before in prior seasons, and none of my video settings being changed. Told the Halo Support person "Installing the texture pack fixed the crashing, but now my game runs poorly" and was told to create a brand new ticket, instead of the Halo support person just opening up a new ticket for me. Annoying, but I did it, and got a message back with the new person asking for gameplay footage of this happening. Recorded it, uploaded it to RU-vid unlisted, and sent them the link, as requested. That was yesterday, and if the view count on the video is anything to go by, they haven't even watched the video yet. It's one thing to have the game in the state it's in, but to make people jump through hoops to try to get the game to even work, only for all that hoop-jumping to not mean jack shit is fucking pathetic.

Honestly infection is just too little too late. We still only have one new gun and four new maps after almost two years is absolutely unacceptable when every other halo before this objectively did far more by this point. The fact that mcc has almost double the players also points to how dead infinite is(I wouldn’t be surprised if halo 5 could be tied with infinite in terms of players). The turning point for this game came and went with forge. Anyone who still believes that this game can come back at this point in time, I’d say is positively delusional. If Arrash and co did another state of halo, this is what I would say if I ended up somehow being part of it(I’d love to personally).

I would prefer if halo would just strictly be about the campaign. Theres so much they can do. We can have several spin off games expanding the lore. Imagine playing as a san'shyuum prelate. It doesn't even have to be the same first person style gameplay either. Turn it into a hack and slash or something. Just give us something new and refreshing based on the lore.

Halo will never be back as long as 343 is still there.

Aside from the known Halo RU-vidrs and Pros, virtually the only people left playing this train wreck of spaghetti code are small time, wannabe streamers who rely on EngineOwning to help them create their echo chamber content. The fact 343 can't comprehend that desync is tied directly to cheat software running in tandem with, and bogging down server connections is fucking hilarious. Even funnier than the fact they've simply given up on even attempting to debug and improve the anti-cheat system they swear up and down is running in this abysmal mess of a proprietary engine catastrophe 🤣

I have gotten into the game again because of infection, but just like before I will stop playing the game due to getting bored of it. And Halo Reach, Halo 3 had better infection.

Of course it is for the right nitch of people. There's not a game on the planet that has 100% of the population becoming raging fans over it.

I stopped playing regularly after season one, and only played a few times during season 2. I'm just tired of it all. The shitty challenges. The incessant grind for the battle pass. Cosmetics we can't grind for, locked behind bundles and the store. Everything I hate about live service games on display in halo. It doesn't make it worth playing to me.

It'll never be worth playing for a few core reasons. Game modes still lack, playlists arnt split into ranked and spcial, custom games,are still messed up, desync still an issue, free to play customization leads to the game looking straight memey unintentionally to make items worth buying, sandbox still really hasnt been improved woth better weapons and meutral equipment outside of the smokescreen. Removal of any community fueled tactics like skill jumping on maps. These are the main reaaons i refuse to play infinite. The game is barwly what it shouldve been at launch.

I dont understand why they dont just add the old maps to MM and add every halo wep/vehichle to the sandboz for forge. It should be INFINITE and have everything halo like smash ultimate is for smash

I miss halo dearly. The only games I would play is halo 3 or reach. I re downloaded Mcc to play and it was just awful. Played on Xbox and pc took 10 minutes to get a lobby and half the team was afk or had 0 idea how to play.

I completely dropped Halo infinite and have been having such a ball with MCC, 343 had so many years to get Infinite right, but whatever it may be its a he said she said situation and at this point I don't care, they fucked up so they should own up to it and just stop ruining Halo and give it to a more competent dev team

Infinite should be scrapped, Halo needs to be given to another studio and start from scratch. Everything 343 has done has failed, never had an inkling of success.

Think about it this way and everything will get put into perspective. It’s 2007 Halo 3 launches in a broken state. Missing features, content, game is broken. Bungie drip feeds content, and fixes to the game all the way up to summer of 2008. Nearly 2 years into Halo 3 and we are practically away from the launch of ODST 2009 and the Reach 2010. Did we even truly get a chance to enjoy halo 3? Now we move back to 2023… how do we find ourselves 15+ years later and a company can not make the game work right at launch. Populations won’t wait years for a fix. Halo infinite and halo in general can not be made with the intention of playing one game for like 10 years, and the logic then being that we will add and fix things along the way and people will be happy. It’s a damn shame that whatever is left of the Halo population.. we are it. Because I’ll tell you, 2007-2010 were great times. Millions of people across the planet loved Halo 3 but it’s no wonder why it did so well. Look at the package that we were offered.

Damn i sorta like forest. I think it actually makes strongholds play well and I hate that mode. Scarr is definitely fire. And hey now, I dont think argyle is that bad but I certainly don't enjoy ranked CTF on it

Nope. Not to the majority of us at least. If you use a controller and rely on aim assist, then this game has always been perfect. But if those people aren't enough to keep the game alive then they might as well just unplug it because everybody else spits on this game.

Finally, with this update games load up fast that’s all I wanted as a benefit and they change the ranking system looks promising

Damn, was kinda stoked for ranked team slayer due to Bandit starts. Yeah, the AR has been over tuned for a long time now. I’ve been saying this for a long time as well “343 DO NOT UNDERSTAND THEIR OWN SANDBOX.” Remember how Team Snipers launched in Infinite?! I rest my case lol.

Took me a while to realize that the first year of live service development was mostly focused on fixing the games code rather than content, reports show that they had what is called "spaghetti code" which is hard to work with, and apparantly their game editor which they used for making maps and game modes had a 75% chance of crashing, so they really had to sort all of those issues out before adding any real content to ensure more can be added in the long run. I understand a lot of people are frustrated that it took this long, but I have actually done game dwvelopment for my freshman year, and it is HARD, sometimes code doesnt work for no reason, I cannot tell you how many times things have just not worked and not have any fix to them, I cannot imagine how hard that is working on the slipspace engine and on such a large scale project.

I started playing again the other day and I noticed that the frame rate seems worse then when it released.

Agree with everything, except for the ranked slayer. 1. Bandit starts are better than BR starts. The Infinite BR is the most powerful BR across all the Halos by a country mile. An average player can cross map with it effectively with high accuracy. This is a problem. This causes the gameplay to be too teamshot heavy, slows down gameplay because nobody wants to move, offers no outplays, and reduces effectiveness of all the power weapons. The reduced range of the bandit makes the gameplay similar to Halo 3’s BR where crossmapping is extremely rare outside of the absolute best players. This allows you to move around the map, have 1v1 fights with outplay ability, and makes the sniper rifle and stalker rifle feel like actual power weapons because you’re not getting descoped crossmap constantly by the infinite BR. 2. The slayer rank glitch while frustrating is not gamebreaking bad as you say. Halo 2 and 3 everyone started at level 1 and had the same issue of bad players getting dominated at the early ranks during a rank reset and by smurf accounts, but that ranking system is more rewarding than infinite’s system where above average players start at Diamond 5 only 2 ranks from max rank. Besides, the issue is fixed now and as the season rolls along the ranks will even out where everyone is placed where they should be. 3. 4 stacking is a WAY bigger issue in Arena due in part to point 1 I made. Also with the extremely low player count the only way to get to Onyx now in Arena is to be exceptional at the game or be in a 4 stack. No above average player is reaching Onyx in Arena now without 4 stacking. I grinded for a good month in season 3 and BARELY got into Onyx and nearly got demoted back to D6 due to running into constant 4 stacks. But I quit before that happened. Lol

I updated halo infinite to play season 4 and ever since I did that the game has crashed on me three times. Is anyone else experiencing any game crashes ? I’m about ready to just give it up.

nah infection just gets less and less each time it's implimented, it's just not really anything worth it after a few matches. With everything added, we lose like 2 things.

Infection is pretty well balanced but the game plays EXACTLY the same, there's no new content apart from some cosmetics (half of which are in the store). It's not refreshing at all, its stale. Hope they just abandon it and move on to something else they can actually deliver on because they're just trying to squeeze as many pennies out of this game as they can before it dies out for good.

The main problem with halo infinite since lunch is microsoft imo... they dont market it, nor do they fund it enough

Forest is an FFA map that focuses on movement over positioning; I guarantee you that it will play well with ranked FFA (which more maps like this are sorely needed, as the FFA experience in this game is complete ass)

12:50 they do this every single time. Garbage Settings, Trash Maps, Broken Party Matching, Broken MMR, You name it. Every time they do something ranked, they fk it up and it dies within a week. Been like that since 2015, and I don't think it will ever change.

If they were able to drop Seasons in a proper pace they could have had a bigger success story. Even bigger if they actually launched with all basic expected features and modes.

the biggest thing that irks me (besides all these core features being super late) is the damn AI voices. I tried to play the new infection and I cannot STAND the banished AI in my ear the entire fucking time. Like just let me play the damn game without nonstop chatter

I can't deal with the whining like the update wasn't good. Ofc some bugs appeared, its 343. That doesnt change the fact that the new maps are bangers, infection is great (dont care how you feel about the AI, turn the volume off or dont play), and the new armor is sick. Fuck the haters, im hype af
