Werner- hi! This is a phenomenonal discussion! I didn’t expect you to make the point about sight reading- but truthfully- you’re 100% right- the “secret” benefit of these exercises is that they dramatically improve your ability to sight read by building your spatial awareness of the keyboard. You are 100% correct- the exercises need to be done with intention. I would forget about the different keys and rather focus on practicing each exercise with your eyes closed. The goal is to really “see” the keyboard in your mind, using the patterns to help reinforce and confirm.

It is the most complete Hannon explanation I've ever heard in You Tube. Thank you so much Werner.

Great, My teacher makes Hanon mandatory taken 1 year to get the first 5 absolutely perfect turnarounds timing etc. notice both hands are working together finally and all fingers are equally strong. Put a lot of time and energy into it and glad you agree it is worthwhile. Never thought about endurance but that is another great benefit. Cant believe you are going to do the whole thing, thanks so much. Now on to 6-10.

Okay I only like really too piano teachers on RU-vid you and pianote. I'm 53 and I stop playing piano second grade years ago. But I went on to DJ and reproduce music in the dance scene. Always love Mozart and Baroque music could you suggest where I could start just by using your videos? Thank you thank you thank you
