Great video, totally agree. Just bought exactly the same model, year, colour & trim. £2600 at 155K miles with FSH. Drives perfectly, these are amazing value for money in my opinion. Was going to get 525 or 530d for reliability / performance. Really happy with the 520d, fast enough to be honest and much cheaper on tax/ins and mpg

My "long term" daily driver is 6/2000 e46 320d M47 with 741000km (460 436 miles). Bought it in 2011 when it had 454000km with "full service history". Full meaning the service booklet was full. There was no more pages to put stamps. :)

Good choice! I have the exact same car (well, different colour) which I bought brand new back in July 2009. This means that I've owned it for around 11 and half years. Yes, that's right! I've done 190,000 km so far and still going strong. Never had a single issue with it, this is why I can't really make my mind up about changing it. I've never really had a car for as long as I've owned this one, but it's definitely worth it.

I drove a couple of these back when they were brand new (I worked for Hertz at that time), and remember liking them a lot 🙂 But I'm glad to see how well it's holding up, now that I can actually afford to buy one 🙈

Geeeez 267k. I've got a 2008 520d same colour with 165k but an SE. Bit like you, got mine two years back for under 3k when I know people who spent way more on newer polo's, fiestas etc. I've had people (who don't know much about cars) guess a value of over 10k for it... Mine also needs a new turbo though getting it done soon, great looking cars that have aged really well, I'd rather one of these than some new corsa

Have a 2007 520d 150hp with 180.000miles. ownd it for 7months not a one fault other then 1 parkingsensor that haven't worked since I bought it.

well, you are lucky to have that reliable BMW with that high Milage, unlike me. I also did bourght a high milage 192k 9 years BMW 320D E90 for around £3000 and use it for 4 years, but in that 4 years, I have to repair the engine belt pully, which just fragtured in to thousands of pleaces when I start the car, need to replace the ABS which have rusted away cost the car to go into limp mode, then the bult that connect between the drive shaft to the axle have all come loose when driving, take away the hand brake cable during the process. all and all cost me almost the same as the car itself to repair it.

i love my 525d 2006 got very good deal with it its only done 105k and has the full m sport kit , wheels and gone with ysr coilovers as the shocks was shot so thats why i went with the coilovers in the 1st place

Keep her and upgrade, if you have 177bhp then I assume the 2l diesel engine which is incredibly unstressed, can be taken up to much more power for much less money than getting another car, sell and you will one day wonder why

You are not right, that is not the 177ps 520d, that is the 163 ps, and thank God for it. My own has 367 thousand quilometres. This engines are farely bullitproof. Surely better than every hdi or dci. Probably the best you will ever have. Confort and dinamics.

I got an offer for 15k euros for a 2008 BMW 520i E60 (N43 engine) with 68k miles on it. Do you think is a good opportunity to jump into one of these? I really like the presence of it and the prestige that it gives to the driver.

How long do you plan to keep this car? I have a 142 Audi A5 Convertible (bought in Nov 2018) and it's the...It's basically my dream car, it's turbo red, it only has about 55,000km on the clock, I clean it, wax it every 2-3 months and usually do a deep clean over the summer, but I'm thinking of a few years down the road, when I've to get a new car should I try get a great brand like a Merc, BWM, Audi etc and have about 150k on it to see how it drives. I don't think I would bother 250k miles, I think you're mad!! hahaha.... But I think 150km is a nice max for a second-hand car.

It doesn't have 177hp, that is the M47 engine which has 163 hp. It's the older gen engine from the E39 just has a bit more horsepower.

I’ve just purchased yesterday a 520d 2008 M sport. 135k miles with a full service history and it looks the bollocks. I pick it up next week and I can’t wait.

In Germany 🇩🇪 they do 400,000miles or even 800,000 miles bulletproof cars of that era not like nowadays where they make them to break them

In Germany we see this car as very unreliable due to the many issues it will get once it hits a certian mileage. It might be that the previous owner changed many things and repaired the certain faulty parts of it before selling it to you. Usually if you see a e60 diesel for 4-6 grand you get really suspicious about electronic issues, timing chain etc.

Nice car man I've got an e60 too . great car overall but i can't agree with you about buying an high millage car . my 520d e60 2006 with 163hp with 184 miles I've done 28 thousands miles since i've bought it , and i have spent 5k euro the first one was the Turbo at 160 thousands miles and then chluth whole kit , and many more ... that i had to changed . So I would Recommend to any one who is looking to buy one have less milles or know what to look for. Btw are you sure your engine isn't the M47 one with 163 hp ? cuz looks exactly like the pre lci including mine. N47 with 177 hp engine cover looks different .. !

Just after buying 09 E60 full service history and timing chain changed 2019 so hopefully no big problems in the future, I love the size of it and the comfort Just have to get drivers side fixed because someone key it

This is the 163bhp Engine for sure, as opposed to the 177 as you mentioned.. see that as a Positive as the 177’s are terrible with the Chocolate timing chains! :)

well glad to hear your enjoying it , i just bought one myself , 2009 facelift (Not the M sport version) but one that was so well maintained it looked like it just came out of the factory , i actually thought that car had not been drivin , or sat in when i saw it for the first time. 520 Diesel same engine but with only 140.000 kilometers . i did pay a whole lot more because of the condition of the car and fairly low miles compared to most , but still , i love it!

i am waiting till the f2o to comes down to 5k, that shud be by the end of this year (privite) , i have a e88 right now..but the 520 is ok for the price £1600 right now..(west midlands)..

That was pleasure to watch, i was looking few days ago on autotrader for one like yours and looks like they keep value as i have seen few of 520d m sport with 130k-200k miles for 3-4grand, e60 looks timeless, its a tidy car. Manual only!

The looks of this car is the best BMW ever built. I admire it and I want to own one hopefully soon while all those available still have some life in them. So this was very helpful to me. I have newer model cars (golf and kadjar) but I just want this type of BMW.

I've the same model but 56 reg ,done 166000 miles automatic, had it for 12 years ,its only had a crank belt pulley ,one wheel bearing ..Same exhaust. keep up the presentation, your a natural, thanks .

Got a 2007 520 d m sport on 120k miles absolutely loving it

I have one of these 2006 in auto, it has just over 200,000 miles on it now never misses a beat! The only thing that went wrong was the Dpf blocked and split the flexi hose. I got the dpf removed and remapped and never had any issues! deffo would recommend to anyone love this car! it's a shame I now need a 7 seater so I have to get rid😪😪 should have got rid 7 months ago but I cant bring myself to get rid😩😩😩

Great video, I'm planning to look at a 56 plate 520 tourer that's had 1 owner and has been maintained by a BMW garage every service or at least every big service according to the paperwork. Have you had or heard of from other owners about issues with the timing chain? I'm a little weary about it after looking into the 320d's issues with it. Thanks :)

Harder to say an e60 with the n47 engine is worth it at higher miles unless theres proof of the timing chain being changed.

I have an e60 with 215000 miles. Need a new transfer case. Do you think it’s worth fixing? The rest of the car is great. Lots of new parts. I loved this car and if I can push for another 100 mile I’ll happy. Mechanic gave me a quote for $2000 to fix.

I have a 330d touring 55 reg E90 it has 2000k mileage and omg not only is it fast but it’s in perfect condition because it’s been well looked after and at the end of the day that’s all that matters.

If you maintain BMW it will go forever

A mid 2000s CLA would be a nice side step. Pricing is similar to a 100k+ miles E60.

I would go for a 530d or 525d with m57 engine. Much more durable and powerful

I’ve been driving 20 different cars since 1995. The E60 520d is by far the best car I’ve ever driven.

Had an Audi s3 for 7 years. Bought it on 120,000mls and sold it on 235,000mls. Still on original clutch and turbo….. don’t be scared of miles just poor maintenance.

Does this engine have the timing chain issue or is that just the 3 series
