The day hira understands what kiyoi feels will be the happiest day in my life like kiyoi is so thinking of long lasting relationship meanwhile hira still thinks him as a god! Gosh!!!!!!
I love complicated feelings, Hira being bullied his entire life, never been cared for as a human being, neglected by his own parents, Just being used and taken advantage of. He's sense of identity is shattered, Love how he's written, Love that you can see his feelings everywhere, Through everything he does every thing he says. I think people forget the reason Hira liked photography in the first place " it's because it creates this wall between me and the real world " He said it in season 1. You can't just snap out of something that has been there for you your whole life, You can't just say ok I'm in a relationship now so all my mental health issues should go away, Hira never had a sense of belonging, He had always been used , Going through abuse , neglected and never had anybody cared for him to even talk to them about anything. He may not even know that all these had led him to believe that maybe unfortunately his feelings aren't even real.. See.. It's about him.. Not Kyioi.. He doesn't even know what does it all mean, He had always felt so worthless.. And I know Kiyio is in so much pain now.. It breakes my heart.. All I want to say is that stop looking for someone to blame, For someone being the bad not -deserve the love receiving guy, People are much more than just that~
Very well said, and you make a great point about his own parents even neglecting him. You get very subtle clues, like that they are always absent and Hira really has never had anyone to truly confide in so he developed this very deep-rooted belief that he was simply defective and couldn't form a true connection to anyone.
The way Kiyoi is portraying his emotions through the subtle changes of his expression 0:30 is heartbreaking, because he was thinking of a forever together, but Hira wasn’t on the same page and here 1:28 is where he realized that Hira is still having that one sided love and it hurts to know that 1:49 and the wishful thinking he had about their forever together is gone 2:12. “I’m sorry that I like you” 2:49 😢 The portrayal of conflicted emotions and inferiority complex is well delivered by Hira’s character 1:25. Hira started worshipping Kiyoi since high school and he hasn’t stopped and I know Kiyoi likes to be loved, but Hira just does it in a way where he puts him on a higher level than his own self, on a pedestal. But this has happened because both are insecure. Kiyoi doesn’t express himself well, we knew that him saying “disgusting” “gross” was a good thing because he used to do it in such a cute way and he is shy, but I have to admit that he has been showing more growth and even tried to balance the relationship when Koyama talked to him and challenged him with cooking. He also has been talking more and when he talks is because he wants to stop Hira from his self-deprecation, to praise him or because he’s motivating him to keep going and not stop trying just because he failed one time. Hira needs to come to reality and find that self worth, self confidence he is lacking. Even if they break up and decide later to be together it would be the best, because a relationship like that is emotionally exhausting 😞
kiyoi made me cry in this scene. it was so difficult to accept that the man he loves doesnt understand what he feels. this is the scene of the series for me and that's why i considered My beautiful man one of the best from Japan.
This whole series is deeply carved into my heart. Kiyoi and Hira will forever be my comfort couple though at times they are immature but that's what makes their relationship appear more natural and beautiful, I could never say any of this was scripted.. Hats off to both the artists, they did an absolutely amazing job. Love kiyoi and Hira always 💜💗💗💗
this show seems to teach us all not to idolise our bf/gf. and it tells us idolising [stars in the music industry or actors] isn't a foundation for an actual relationship
Honestly, I think Kiyoi deserves better. The boy just wants to be loved, but Hira is too busy loving the idea of him. Unless Hira can grow a brain and stop living in his own world, I don't think the two will be happy. I was really hoping Hira would have some character growth but no, he's stuck in his own fantasies again and won't address the world that surrounds him and Kiyoi, until he does their worlds can't meet and they can't grow as a couple which I think is what Kiyoi wants. Hira needs to evolve and until he does, sadly, I don't think I'll be satisfied for Kiyoi.

I really feel for Kiyoi; to have your dreams of having a future with someone you genuinely love so much shattered so unintentionally cruelly and doubting whether they ever loved the real you or the fantasy version of you they've built up in their head and being straight up *told* by your lover that they don't even *want* to understand you because it would break the illusion of the fantasy you is...just so heartbreaking 😭. You can almost hear his heart shatter in this scene, and Hira's look goes from worshipper to shocked when Kioyi starts crying because he truly doesn't understand how awful what he just said to Kioyi, who just wants Hira to love and understand him, is. What he *thinks* he's doing is reaffirming that Kiyoi is the 'King' and Hira as a mere worshipper would never dream of trying to understand him thus bringing him down to Hira's level, but what Kiyoi is realising is that the relationship he wants so desperately with Hira; where they are equal and love and see each other for who they are flaws and all, is never going to happen and he's devastated, but Hira doesn't even realise he's pretty much ended their relationship. I mean he senses that when Kioyi walks away that he might not be coming back, but he has no clue why. The fact that Hira *still* doesn't seem to grasp how very reciprocated their feelings are; assuming that Kioyi's looks at the party are Kioyi's trying to remind him that 'he can dump him at any time' when in reality Kiyoi just wanted to show off his boyfriend to the people he's working with, even if he can't come right out and say it is tragic to me. Kiyoi has grown a lot from last season. Yes, he still has a knee-jerk negative reaction when he thinks he's being too affectionate/loving and backtracks, but he's also being a lot more vocal with Hira when before he was a lot more reserved. And him trying to cook for Hira as a show of him making an effort in making their relationship more equal is so sweet. He's openly supportive of Hira's photography and encourages him when his first attempt at a competition doesn't get past the first round. He's trying hard to move their relationship forward, only to have Hira's hero worship and low self-worth put a spanner in the works to the point Kiyoi maybe even doubts Hira has feelings for the real him at all, preferring the 'King' version of him he's built up in his head to the real flawed but loving man who loves and adores him and his quirks so much. I know it's a bit cruel but I really hope that Hira goes to Koyama when he can't figure out what happened, because Koyama might have residual feelings for Hira but he also cares about him enough to still to want him to be happy with the person he loves and he knows that's Kioyi and that it definitely goes both ways and he has the best hope of getting Hira to see where he's going oh so wrong! I wonder how Hira would even explain everything that happened from his perspective, but I can just imagine him getting to the 'it's ok you'll never meet my parents' part and Koyama realising he both dodged a bullet with his feelings not being reciprocated and starting to understand how much damage Hira unintentionally did to his relationship with Kioyi, as someone who probably had similar fantasies of a future with Hira when he still had feelings for him.
This is the first time I meet a couple that communicate but didn't get a solution of their problems because the problem has always been there since before their relationship start. And the worst of all is they are first love for each other and this is their first relationship as well. Because it's their first, they didn't know how to solve their problem to maintain their relationship and just bursting their feelings out (but it's good to be honest with your feeling). On top of that, they didn't have a best friend or friend that close enough that you can get advice on how to improve their relationship. Also, they seems like they didn't close enough to their parents or siblings or cousins, so they didn't ask them for advice and rely on them at all. I hope that Kiyoi will get some good advice from Anna about their relationship, also I hope Kiyoi can be friends with Anna and have someone that he can get advice about their relationship other than Koyama (because Koyama had feelings for Hira before, it will raise the conflict and it's good to have more person you can talk and be honest to).
Also, why do people watch season 2 and still think Kiyoi is abusive? The 1st ep had his old habits of throwing things, kicking Hira when he's embarrassed. But by the 2nd and 3rd ep Kiyoi was much more gentle and expressive in telling Hira how he feels. He always initiates physical affection, he would tell Hira he's worried for his health working night shift. Even during this conversation, you can see Kiyoi probably started helping out with chores folding the laundry (since he can't cook lol). Although he was initially hurt when Hira first said "I don't deserve to even be called your friend", he tried to brush it off and continue the conversation with "at least your mother won't be worried about you". I mean, come on. Who wouldn't throw something at your jerk-sounding bf when he makes it sound like your relationship is short-term. While it seems like Hira is the subservient one taking care of Kiyoi's physical needs, Kiyoi is the one invested in maintaining their emotional relationship.
Wow... I can not believe he said that to kiyoi... you will never know/meet my parents... you will never have anything to do with them. That is a huge slap in the face for customs in Japan. It's a huge thing to meet the parents. With him saying he won't introduce him ever... it's basically saying their relationship doesn't exist.. and never will. He's also saying he is ashamed of their relationship if he doesn't introduce kiyoi to them. Ex: As you wouldn't introduce a 1 night stand to the parents... I totally understand why he got upset... when he was told that " I don't want to understand you" way to invalidate kiyoi's feelings of falling for him and wanting to have a relationship with him.... I swear 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
I have to be very honest, I kind of liked having a scene like this just because I felt like it gave me hope in the sense that it could make a difference in the way Hira sees the world. Of course it hurts to see Kiyoi cry (Yusei did an amazing job btw💛🥲) but it was necessary, otherwise I don't see these characters, ESPECIALLY HIRA, changing their bad traits and being able to have a healthy relationship. Bc Kiyoi at least has changed since the first season, every day he's more vocal about what he feels. He still lacks but at least he has changed for the better. While Hira?? Hira is literally still there... What I thought had changed about him in the last EP of the 1st season actually didn't change at all. The problem isn't even that Hira has low self-esteem, but that his low self-esteem made him a extremely self-centered person. In fact, Hira doesn't even love the real Kiyoi, he's just obsessed with this image he created in his mind of Kiyoi. He doesn't even care what Kiyoi really thinks, he's only interested in living in that imaginary reality that he created in his mind where Kiyoi is only the main character. And that's neither fair nor healthy. If i could I would take Hira to therapy bc the boy needs professional help (and i'm not saying this as a joke at all, in real life that's what I would suggest, mental health is important and treatable). Ugh but I really need to see some character development or I'll end up hating this show and I don't want that😞😞
I’ve been in Hira’s shoes. No self esteem. Lost in the fantasy. Feeling like you don’t deserve the person you’re with and the person you’re with, who has a normal self esteem, doesn’t get it AT ALL. Hira takes it to an extreme of course but the dude is very relatable for anyone who’s been bullied and treated less than their entire life. It’s hard when someone average says they’re interested in you. Having someone exceptional and a celebrity say they love you? Pfft I would never believe it either. Kiyoi is probably the best for Hira though because people like Hira can only accept compliments if it’s given aggressively.
i totally agree with your take. its easy to say for folks who experieced life easily. how do anyone expect HIRA who was bossed around, treated like shit and low, suddenly received a love from the Man he was obsessing on? Id be questionig it too so give him time and Kiyoi is actually doing it.

It's not good for Kiyoyi to be with Hira, he will never be considered as a person and never be loved. Living in the fantasy when you have a real person near you makes the other person so lonely and waste their time. You better leave them alone.
@@1990sss Hey, I watched whole S2, nothing is resolved about Hira's fantasy world, they show it like he started to change a bit and then *my beautiful man ~ Eternal* movie is released it's a continuation of S2, they are little bit more closer and having normal conversations, movie is about Hira deciding to improve himself and wanting to get an award on photography and fit into Kiyoyi's world, He decided to stay with Kiyoyi forever but still there isn't single scene that shows Hira cares about Kiyoyi's feelings, I personally disappointed and felt like I needed another season.
Kiyoi and his never ending efforts to learn better about Hira. He is the real lover boy. You could see him suffering but never giving up. Thank you for this amazing series, we absolutely loved it. Wish this could never end and we could just watch these two lovebirds with no end. But now I am waiting for the movie which is expected to release sometime in April. Please we want more of Kiyoi and Hira😩😩😩💜💜💜💜💜💗💗💗💗💗

This was one of the best scenes, although there was a whole lots of "miscommunication & misunderstanding" going on here. I think Kiyoi just meeded some type of assurance from Hira that he was important in some way....and Hira being Hira, fluffed it up
Season 2 has been awesome so far even though this episode broke my heart poor kiyoi 💔 I still sympathise with Hira though. For someone that has low self-esteem, it's hard to get out of that spiral even with the love and encouragement from a lover. It didn't help that Kiyoi was gaining popularity and the one time he was encouraged to join a photography competition (which he said in the episode he was always quite confident in his skills), he ended up not qualifying the first round. I think that beat him down harder than he made it look.
Such a great scene. Kioyi was so hurt once he realized they were never going to have the relationship he let himself hope for and Hira hasn’t move from season 1, he still believes he is not worthy of Kioyi’s affection. So sad. Where do they go from here? Nowhere it would seem right?
I love them so much but i hate how their dynamic hurts them as well. The fact that kiyoi apologies for falling in love just hurts me so bad, i love this series it's dear to my heart and especially the second season really left a mark

Atlast Kiyoi can understood what Hira was thinking. Hira confessed about his inner thoughts... It's so heartbreaking for Kiyoi, it's true... But if Kiyoi stays with Hira each and everyday these type of actions of Hira will burt him more and more.. Kiyoi deserves better... He wants love and at the end of the day a person who can understand him, as being deprived from love from childhood, Kiyoi needs affection,love and care.. If Hira doesn't grow mentally he cannot give these to Kiyoi... So I want Kiyoi to move out from this relationship.. Atleast Kiyoi can keep in mind he is alone and have to fight alone. It is better than expecting loved, cared by someone,having a home but expection is getting hurt repeatedly... When expection from loved ones breaks it hurts the most.. So it's better to move out.

For those who have seen the movie actually Hira does outgrow this “god” mentality he has of kiyoi. By the end of the movie Hira calls him “my beautiful man” showing that he now looks at kiyoi differently. Sorry for the spoilers
Hira just doesn’t understand. He can’t ever accept that this beautiful man loves him so he thinks it would be a burden to make him meet his parents or have anything to do with him outside of the bubble of the house.. he’s so shy about it all even when his friend mentions it to him..
They need to communicate better. And for goodness sake, why does Kiyoi have to be a ticking time bomb every single time he's misunderstood?! The explosive reaction is too much. Hira really, really needs to stop the hero worship and just love Kiyoi the way he wants to be loved. These two have more issues than any other couple in any drama.
then again it makes for very deep character portrayals that make the story very entertaining, both of them have flaws and redeeming qualities and are constantly struggling against them, which is quite realistic imo
Because that’s the way the script is written… sheesh!🙄 Kiyoi still hasn’t mastered his feelings yet and no matter what he puts down Hira is too thick to pick up. It’s frustrating and a lot of young guys in real life don’t know how to handle such intense feelings for another person. If only Hira would stop idolizing him and stop making silly comments like they can never be equals because Kiyoi is a god and other idiotic things. He showed Kiyoi that they’re not on the same level of being together long term if he says he’ll NEVER let his parents know about Kiyoi - who says that about the person you love? I’d dump Hira. Kiyoi wouldn’t be lonely for long with his looks.
He has become so self entitled because everyone keeps ignoring him and he dont even care about them which is good but at certain level we all know that its not he is used to getting ignored that now he thinks why would even someone will talk with me and do I even need them And I think he is not even in love with kiyoi its just attraction, admiration he is just obsessed he needs to ask himself what kiyoi is to him But him getting afraid is also understandable......
Hira is solving Kiyoi's problem without understanding real world and Kiyoi. The best course of action for Hira is to ask Kiyoi, what he should do and learn from his loving boyfriend.

A guy like Hira, need extensive therapy. He clearly isn't mature enough for a long term relationship. He's like person who is in love with an idol, a celebrity, or a fictional character, who's not living in reality. He needs to learn to love himself before he can love someone else.
When will hira stop treating him like a star and start treating him as boyfriend as he is actually is. When will he see himself in equal light as kiyoi.🤦♀️
I would love to see a Season 3. Season 4 if you count the movie as Season 3. Hira and Kiyoi have stumbled and bumbled for several years now and they need to start communicating openly and honestly. They keep speaking in half sentences and assuming the other knows what they are trying to say. Hira needs to straight up tell Kiyoi how his parents mentally and physically abused him. He flinches whenever Kiyoi gets upset and raises his voice. Kiyoi has never harmed Hira, but Hira is used to being physically abused by his parents and expects abuse from everyone. Hira's parents couldn't get rid of him so they literally ran away. There was never an indication that they ever called to check up on their teenage son who was living alone. They certainly did not attend his high school or college graduations but were giving him money to stay away because he was able to afford to live on his own and go to college without having a bunch of side jobs. His parents couldn't be bothered to warn him that they had agreed that he should live on the streets so that the wealthy aunt could have the house. By promising Kiyoi that he would never meet his parents, Hira was proud that he was able to protect Kiyoi from his horrible parents. Kiyoi, not knowing that Hira's parents are worthless, was probably hoping that Hira's parents could fill the space in his heart that his own mother created when she overlooked him in favor of children with her new husband. Kiyoi has begged Hira repeatedly to see him as a man, an equal and to stop worshipping him as a god. Kiyoi needs to keep working on that. If they can just talk openly to one another and listen to one another, they would both be so much happier and stronger. Based on the scene in which Kiyoi got jealous after seeing a woman talking to Hira, dragged him home and informed him that they were going "to do it tonight," it reinforced my feeling that these two wonderful, introverted, bumbling men more than likely are too embarrassed and introverted to "do it" daily as they should be, lol. They really need to open up to one another emotionally and physically. I'd love to see another season that would show them grow further. Hira still has a long way to go. Sweet Kiyoi may not talk enough, but he has grown since their high school days when he bullied Hira and allowed/encouraged others to bully and use him. But now, he has watched Hira closely enough to recognize Hira's moods and patterns, like there's usually bad news to discuss when Hira cooks elaborate meals and has learned how to love Hira.
The moment I knew koyoi was really broken was when he said'sorry that I liked you'koiyi really loves hira ...so hira try to see koiyi for the man he really is not a god

Neither of them are ready to go steady. Period. Hira is living under a rock, Kiyoi is immature... Their whole "relationship" is toxic and unhealthy. First they need to grow up. This series is such a pain to watch...
